Loving my view this week. 😍
If, like me, you‘ve read all the Anna Pigeon books and are looking for something similar to fill that gap, look no further! Alex is a field biologist who goes to rural Montana for a wolverine study on protected land. After an extremely frosty reception from the locals, she sees a man running and vomiting on her one trail camera and things get going from there. I‘ve already put book 2 on hold.
Started this one this morning.
One way out of a miserable life of pain, debt, and loneliness is a fairy tale—barflies like to hear one, hunters want to write one, and Tom and Polly drive the plot of their own as the Bonnie and Clyde of 1890s Montana. To Tom and Polly, pursuing a life of escape, beyond the usual conventions and logic, is a noble no-brainer, given that all stories and all roads, even the ones by a beautiful coastline, must end.

This was such a treat to read. It‘s summer 1951 and 11-year-old Donal Cameron must take himself from Montana to Wisconsin to stay with relatives while his grandmother has surgery. Things don‘t go well and he soon ends up back on a westbound bus. It‘s humorous, heartfelt and honest. The people he meets along the way, the stories he collects, and just the cadence of the language all make this a joyful and immersive experience.
This was a fascinating and informative read. I enjoyed the storyline and characters as they developed. There is so many interesting factors that I can‘t pinpoint where to start, but that would be giving away the book, so I‘m suggesting that everyone read this so they can enjoy
