Taking day 24 of #30junebooks (wild) really literally. I read 3 chapters of WILD a few years ago, and then abandoned it. But I know a lot of people love it!

How about you? Fan or no?

marleed Fan! 1d
marleed I‘m always intrigued by people who (and why) could easily go down a path of despair but instead get up, dust their pants, and take another path. 1d
Soubhiville I loved it! Mostly because I love hiking, and I‘m from a family that‘s done most of the AT. 1d
cherinium Not a fan! I was mostly annoyed by her. The logical planner in me can't fathom why anyone would try to tackle something like the AT with no research or planning. I also remember being annoyed that she used some irritating phrases repeatedly. 👎 1d
ImperfectCJ I enjoy books about long hikes, and most are about the Appalachian Trail, so I liked that this one's about the PCT. Memoir is tricky for me, though. There were a couple of scenes that had me thinking about all of the things I'd never put in a book my mother-in-law might read. 1d

#30junebooks - day 23. For today‘s prompt of “N”, I asked my nine year old to choose nine of her favorite books off her shelf. She came up with 2 graphic novels, 2 Harry Potter-ish books, a Dork Diaries, an Ever After High, a Percy Jackson, a science book, and a Bible. She‘s eclectic... or well-rounded, depending on how you look at it. 🙂 #raisingreaders

Day 22 of #30junebooks is #audiobook! I love audiobooks, and I almost always have one or two going. Here are six books I‘ve enjoyed this month — 5 of them were all at least 4 stars, and I‘m currently listening to “Honor Among Thieves”, and thinking it will be a high ranker too!

How about you? Are you an audiobook person?

JaclynW I love audiobooks! I have several going at the same time too. I'm currently listening to: James and the Giant Peach, The Night Tiger and The Clan of the Cave Bear. 3d
Daisey It took me a long time to try audiobooks, but now I always have one on my phone. Although I often read several books at a time, I find it harder to listen to more than one. Once in a while I will switch back and forth, usually between a fairly in depth nonfiction and a lighter fiction, but generally I focus on one at a time. 3d
CogsOfEncouragement I most enjoy audio memoirs read by the author but I have branched out to listen to other kinds of books too. 3d
marleed I always have an audiobook active on my phone. I don‘t purchase audio but rather check them out from the library. When I love them - which is way too often, I‘ll purchase the book, finish in print, and add to my book collection. I prefer audio on my phone vs cd because I can adjust the speed. I find I walk at a faster clip if the voices in my Bluetooth speak a bit quicker than normal speed. 3d

Hey look what I found in my camera roll from October 2017! #flashbackfriday 🙂

My phone is slowly dying, and I had 17,900 pics on it (😳). So today I‘ve been listening to this #audiobook and deleting pics! Down to 16,300. Only like 12,000 to go. 😱😂

Megabooks I took a lot of litfluence pucks back in the day, too!! 4d

Day 21 of #30junebooks is new release. THE GIRLS AT 17 SWANN STREET just came out February, and I found it fascinating! It tells the story of newlywed Anna, who struggles with anorexia, and who ends up at 17 Swann Street, a home for women with eating disorders. It was sad, but really good, and ultimately hopeful.

Emilymdxn I really want to read this! It‘s been hard to get in the uk every time I‘ve tried :( 4d

Sorry I forgot to post the preview last night!

1. Ben‘s Bells started in #Tucson, so there are kindness murals all over town!
2. Nothing? 😬 I hate the heat! And my job is way busier in the summers.
3. Cantaloupe and berries, yum!
4. I hate to admit it, but e-books.
5. 👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻 #friyayintro

Bklover Tucson is probably not the best place to be if you hate the heat! Stay cool! Oh, and I‘ve never mixed cantaloupe and berries before, but now I‘m going to try it! ❤️❤️ (edited) 4d
ImperfectCJ Making sure I understand the game before jumping in... you post a new prompt/question list each Friday and everyone who wants to participate grabs that image, answers the questions in their own blurb, and comments on other posts that have the hashtag? #30junebooks - day 19 - reading place. One of my most frequent reading places is my car! I love audiobooks, and they make drives so much more fun. •
(Also, guys, WHITE FRAGILITY is wrecking me. I‘ve read a lot about social justice in the last few years, and racial reconciliation is important to me, but ooooof this book is hitting painfully close to home.) 💔❤️

Kimberlone Awesome that your car actually displays the audiobook cover art! 6d
BooknerdsLife Hahaa I used to get a lot of reading done in my car too 😂 But not with audio books, just from reading in the car while waiting for my kid from school or other after school activities 😆🤗 Really miss those days! 6d

Reading this book on Juneteenth feels very appropriate. I could quote from it all day, but here is one I made a bookmark of in my audiobook. “My race is unremarkable. I belong, when I turn on the tv, read bestselling novels, and watch blockbuster movies. I belong, when I walk past the magazines racks at the grocery store or drive past billboards. I belong...” #howjessreadsin2019 #juneteenth #whitefragility

Day 18 of #30junebooks - #uglycover. Most ARCs have such boring, ugly covers, which don‘t reflect the story within at all!

I got this one from Shelf Awareness; super interesting literary take on a world destroyed by floods. Humanity clings to a few tiny islands (the remnants of former mountain chains), or lives aboard ships.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #howjessreadsin2019 (Um, I haven‘t shared reviews for the last 40-odd books I‘ve read. Should I play catch-up?)

Soubhiville This is my next read, but mine has a cover. Can‘t wait to jump into it, but I have to finish my bookclub pick first. 7d
emtobiasz I‘m in a similar situation re: a backlog on book reviews 😬 Every time I think about making a post I just end up reading instead! 7d

Day 16 of #30junebooks was “Obsessed with”. I am obsessed with the Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater. I own signed copies of all of them in print, and I also own them all on #audiobook. I am such a fangirl that I even supported the Kickstarter for the artsy box designed by Maggie herself, and now I have this lovely boxed set!

How about you? Are you a fan of #TheRavenCycle?

BookHoarder32 I have that box too. I haven't read these yet, but soon. I love Maggie! ❤️ What did you think of her All the Crooked Saints? 1w

Day 15 of #30junebooks is book source. My three most frequent book sources are the ARCs I get from @shelf.awareness, books from my local branch of the @pimacountylibrary and @bookmanseast, where I work. I very rarely buy new books, I‘m a library / trade books with a friend kinda person. Which sometimes I feel slightly guilty about... Like I should support authors more probably. (Con‘t below)

howjessreads I mean, I‘ve read 130 books so far this year, and I think I bought maybe 5 of those new? But, I also post a lot on social media about what I‘m reading, so that makes me feel better. 🙂 1w
heikemarie My library caters toward a different crowd ( we get mostly James Patterson backlist), so I end up buying more than I want. But most authors would probably love that you're supporting libraries! 1w

Day 14 of #30junebooks - U is for #unread. I‘m a huge library user, so I very rarely buy physical books I haven‘t read. (I do buy #audiobooks though, since sadly my library‘s digital audio selection is lacking.)

We have around 1200 books in our house... but I think these are the only 3 “grown-up” books I haven‘t read. And I‘ve read a significant number of the kids‘ books too! 🙂📖

How about you? Are you a book buyer?

JanuarieTimewalker13 Yes!! I‘m a book buyer and a steady library patron! 2w
TrishB Yes, not many days I don‘t buy a book. Probably read 1 buy 3 🤷‍♀️ 2w
Kaila-ann I‘ve put myself on book buying ban for a little while though I may have to make an exception for a local book club that I just joined. I usually share my books once I‘ve read them, the amount of books that I will keep/love forever is pretty small. 2w

Day 6 of #30junebooks is #bookwormproblems!

I did a pretty terrible job coordinating my library holds, and now I have allllll the audiobooks to listen to, right before a weekend away with my husband, when I probably should *not* be just isolating myself with my earbuds. 😂🤪

What‘s YOUR bookworm problem??

baes Oh no! Lol This is why I suspend everything until I‘m a few days away from actually wanting it. Then I select active. You still move up to number 1 spot, but then you just stay there until you‘re ready. You have to wait for a copy, but I‘ve never had to wait more than a couple days since you‘re next in line. 3w
marleed @baes My new overdrive account (and awesome, btw) at my new Library seemingly suspends my hold at the place in which I suspended. I wonder if that is a toggle at the discretion of the library. So now I‘m monitoring my book to get close to a #1 spot before suspending. I suppose it is a good problem to have and I can appreciate since a reciprocating library acct has limited licenses with overdrive. 3w

Can totally feel it in my abs tonight, whew. Still haven‘t used them much since my surgery in March. I have also finished 5 books since Sunday, so doing good on that goal! 5/3 for books, 2/3 for workouts. #bookfitnesschallenge #bfc @wanderinglynn

When it‘s inventory week and Mom goes to work an extra day, you get dragged along. But they didn‘t seem to mind too much. 😏 #raisingreaders #behindthescenesatbookmans

*squeal of joy* BEST #bookmail in ages! Duncan Kincaid & Gemma James are my favorite detectives anyway, and I‘ve been extra-eagerly anticipating this one since following Deborah Crombie‘s Cotswold adventures on IG a few months ago!
The Cotswolds are my favorite part of England — so I had to pull out a few scrapbook pages from my summer in Gloucestershire when I was 18. Crazy it was literally half my lifetime ago, because it seems so vivid still!

Whew! I survived my first weekend of dry camping! 🎉

Those “33 flights” were actually just walking around our campsite, which was at 9,000 ft. Everything seems hard at that elevation. 🤪 Taking down a tent/packing everything up in 30 mph winds made for a good workout!

Didn‘t do a lot of reading, but did do a little audio listening when the wind kept me up! Hopefully will still hit 3 books this week.

4thhouseontheleft Wow! Camping at high elevations is not easy; congrats on making it through! 1mo
howjessreads @Bookwormjillk - no water/toilets. We had to haul our own water in, and I bought something called a “luggable loo” (a bucket with a toilet seat on top) for our tent. 😳🤪 1mo
Bookwormjillk @howjessreads wow, impressive! 1mo

1. SPRING. We actually got a legitimate spring this year! It‘s the coldest May in #Tucson since 1977. We haven‘t even hit 100 yet! And there have been multiple days with highs below 80!! 😍
2. Going camping... wish me luck. I‘m not a huge fan, but my husband really wants to go. And we‘re going to be on Mt. Graham, where the overnight lows are going to be 32*F. In a tent. 😬😳

OOPS. I just remembered I‘m supposed to be tracking my OWN points for the #bookfitnesschallenge. I was thinking that was a lot of work for @wanderinglynn ! Lol.

So... I‘m at 15 + 4 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 6 so far... Kinda guesstimating on the comments — I think I‘ve actually commented on more than 5 posts, but lowballing since I‘m not sure. But still, 35 points + 6 workouts + 12 books so far! (Way over my 3 books a week goal!) #bfc

wanderinglynn Way to go! 🙌🏻 (and originally I WAS going to track everyone‘s points, when I thought only 5 or 6 people would sign up 😂) 1mo
julesG Great stats! I'm not keeping track on the comments. Yes, I might be missing out on a lot of points, but I'm here for the fitness. 😉 1mo
