Great second book in the series ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Love these characters and all the twists.

Book 2 of the interdependency - characters introduced in book one who were just coming into their roles now get room to grow and settle into their positions. If book 1 introduced the major problems to be addressed, book 2 is trying to get everyone to take it seriously. As with book 1, the parallels to pandemic times are there, even though it was written pre-pandemic. If you liked the first book you'll like this one for the same reasons.
Scalzi always delivers a fun story. I enjoyed this one, the second in the series, very much, and Wil Wheaton does an excellent job narrating. Looking forward to book three.

Although I was still enjoying it greatly, up to about halfway through this - the middle book of the trilogy - I was thinking that it was suffering from a serious case of book-two-itis. But then some unexpected plot developments came out of left field, and things suddenly got a whole lot more interesting. Still tons of fun with lots to say - and so much intrigue and so many plots within plots - but definitely don't start with this one.
I'm reading through John Scalzi's Interdependency series, which was nominated for this year's Hugo Best Series Award. This second book in the trilogy is a solid installment in this fun space opera! #hugo2021 #hugoawards

This is the second book in the Interdependency series. I enjoyed it as much as the first and am ready to read the third. BTW, Kiva rules!
If life hadn't interfered, I'd have devoured this book in hours instead of days.
This book is so much fun! Full of political intrigue and twists I never saw coming! I ❤️ these characters more and more (especially Kiva) and cannot wait to find out what happens next!
Wow. I was expecting to labor through a sophomore slump so that I could quickly get to the final book. But hot damn! Crescendo to the very end, of which many parts I actually screamed out a “Hell Yes!” Or a F- yeah!” Bad ass women taking charge. Best book I‘ve read this year.
Reading The Consuming Fire, during a consuming fire. Stay safe everyone!
Like most Scalzi this was a quick read with some humor. I enjoyed the political wrangling and intrigue that poor Cardenia and Kiva have to deal with. There was also more information about how the world works that I found interesting. All in all I look forward to the next installment.

I've been absent from Litsy for a while but didn't stop reading 😀 The second book was good as well, but I thought it was a duology. I'm reading too many series.
"Confidence isn‘t about knowing you‘re right. Confidence is about knowing you can make it right."
Loving this book so far. It started out slow because the author did a data dump at the beginning to help set the stage for the story and I wasn't sure I was going to like. Once your get past that it got good fast. Lots of intrigue.
If you‘ve read a John Scalzi book, you know what you‘re getting. This one was another interesting popcorn style book. There‘s little to really crunch on but the story moves quickly and it‘s engaging. Don‘t bother learning much about the characters. They all basically talk and act the same way. Apparently we‘re all just snarky in the future. It‘s fine though. I like his books, I just have problems recommending them to others.
I really should have read a summary of the first book or reread it or something. I‘m like 22% into this book and very confused.
I loved this book as much as The Collapsing Empire. It's fast, it's funny, and foul-mouthed with clever characters and lots of twisty political machinations. Great stuff!

A wonderful sequel without the sophomore slump. I can‘t wait for the next book.
That moment when starting a new book then realizing it's the second in the series. 🤦🏽♂️

I can see why this got so-so from some readers, it's more talky and political than some of Scalzi's space opera books like Old Man's War. I loved it, but I like politics so I found all the back room maneuvers and double crosses to be very entertaining. It reminded me a little of Dune, with the various houses plotting and planning against each other. 5 💥💥💥💥💥 out of 5.
Cute comic book reference...Hippolyta is Wonder Woman's mother, and Moulton is middle name of Wonder Woman's creator, William Moulton Marston, who also wrote under the pen name of Charles Moulton.
Ahhhhhh young love, it's better than pie....
Log is ready, coffee is ready, first book is set to go. I got a good 6 hours of sleep.
Let‘s start this shindig. @24in48 #24in48readathon
Scalzi and Wil Wheaton as narrator are an unbeatable combo. Can‘t wait for the next in the series #2019
One of the problems with Epic Sci-fi series is that the author has so many big ideas and complex scenarios that the books become bloated. Scalzi has a brilliantly thought out world and lots of moving pieces but his attempts to keep the story more concise and moving along makes it feel rushed at times. While it‘s fun and he pulls it together well, in the end I felt like there were areas that could have been explore more and opportunities missed.
Another 5 star book from Scalzi.
He made me smile and laugh and I was so pleased to be reunited with some of my favourite characters.
I am now eagerly awaiting the next book in the series.
The characters are really well written in this book and the story line is fantastic. I can't wait for the next one!
This was an excellent sequel to The Collapsing Empire. The political intrigue is so good and there are wonderfully funny parts as well as great drama. Also, the moment when the title of the book is put in context was just amazing! And of course Will Wheaton's narration is fabulous!
Cataloged this today... best author photo ever! 😺
This, to me, was not one of Scalzi‘s better books. I kept getting bored. I think it works best as a climate change allegory, with a side of political commentary on imperialism, capitalism, intelligentsia, scientists, historiography, and responsibility. As most good sci-fi does.
Looking forward to this book tonight!
📚 BOOK MAIL! The sequel to the John Scalzi's Collapsing Empire was just released today and my copy just got here. I am soooo excited. He is my favorite snarky sci fi author. 😃
John Scalzi's sequel to The Collapsing Empire comes out October 16th. The first book was A+ space opera and I expect the sequel to be even better.
