When they were introduced, he made a witticism, hoping to be liked. She laughed extremely hard, hoping to be liked. Then each drove home alone, staring straight ahead, with the very same twist to their faces.

The man who'd introduced them didn't much like either of them, though he acted as if he did, anxious as he was to preserve good relations at all times. One never knew, after all, now did one now did one now did one.

Somehow it always reminded me of an episode from friends where ross and chandler are waiting for their friend gandalf.

“All human beings, as we meet them, are commingled out of good and evil”. It was a fun and interesting read but many times in this short novella, the writer was trying too hard to convince his ideas about good and evil to his readers, which at times came as dry and tedious.

My second dickens. I have challenged myself to read everything dickens wrote in 2019 and i have just read the pickwick papers in 2 whole months, will have to speed up. Any suggestions?

lover.of.the.classics Oliver Twist is probably my favorite book by him, I also like Cricket on the Hearth. 9mo
ReclusiveHermit @lover.of.the.classics i am halfway through and enjoying all of it. I will be reading the cricket on the hearth soon. 9mo
abandonedonearth I am a great lover of the works of Dickens, and I own his complete works. However, even if I were not engaged in full-time studies, I don‘t think I would be able to read all of it in a year. 8mo
ReclusiveHermit @abandonedonearth his writing style is amazing and you are right, its going to be hard but i will give it a try and see how much of his work if not all i can complete. 8mo

All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others. I have always been guilty of admitting to have read and enjoyed animal farm when i never did it, and i am not even sorry as how can he be one of my favourite writers if i never read his major work. But i will admit that without reading this i would never had understood the seriousness of above sentence.

Kafka on the Shore | Haruki Murakami
Mehso-so

Murakami is a writer, whose blurb on the back cover is always more enjoyable than the book itself.

KAFKA ON THE SHORE, a novel with murakami‘s signature plot- where the lives of two characters intertwine eachother, is a ambitious work of authorial laziness.
Nakata and even hoshino were far more interesting charecters than kafka tamura and miss sinae, whose Incest-induced sex scenes troubled me more than the outstretched flirtation with eel.

Kafka on the Shore | Haruki Murakami

Silence, I discover, is something you can actually hear. Everytime i try to like murakami, somehow, he manages to kick me out. Not a bad read, but like murakami‘s other works, some of the scenes surrounding sex, aren‘t even relevant and necessary to the plot.

I can see why the Death of a salesman won a pulitzer for drama in 1949, its arthur millers masterpiece. Theres so much to take from this play, his lack of confidence for the American Dream and the class system and capitalism in disguise. It was a pleasure to read.

CoffeeNBooks I teach this one every year in my AP Literature class- it's such an interesting play, with so much in it to analyze and discuss! 10mo

The Pickwick Papers | Charles Dickens
Pickpick

No other author than charles dickens would had made this 900 pages of behemoth novel such hilariously playful. While containing no plot but authentic narration, The Pickwick Papers is full of wittiness. P.s- I hearby announce myself as a pickwikian. #Charlesdickens
