Poldark's Cornwall
Poldark's Cornwall | Winston Graham
9 posts | 1 to read
A lavishly illustrated companion to Winston Graham's beloved Poldark novels, reissued to coincide with the BBC series based on the novels. Graham's saga of Cornish life in the eighteenth century has enthralled readers throughout the world for seventy years and the wild landscapes that inspired the novels have - even today - remained relatively unchanged. Cornwall then was a perilous world of pirates and shipwrecks: of rugged coast and mysterious smugglers' coves, of windswept moors and picturesque villages such as Boscastle and Port Quin, and of beaches, tin mines and churches. With an introduction by Winston Graham's son, Andrew, and illustrated with stunning photographs, Poldark's Cornwall is a glorious evocation of the land of beauty, excitement, romance and imagination that Graham loved so well.

Godrevy and Leggan Cove today in Cornwall. #VirtualTour

How was Tuesday? A bit late tonight as had a governors meeting and had to shut one bubble this afternoon. All staff in that bubble have a similar symptom, but not one of the 3 key symptoms. So we decided in consultation with Public Health felt it best to be cautious and get them tested just in case. Possibly indicates my cautious style and the extra mile going to attempt to keep people safe.

jhod Sounds full on, wishing you all the best 3y
CocoReads One cannot be too over cautious right now. Hoping it‘s like just a cold or something. 3y
See All 38 Comments
CocoReads It was a day. But I‘m home now, freshly showered and enjoying the cool breeze through the open windows. 3y
TheBookHippie We‘ve got a positive test on a teacher so figuring that out . Otherwise blustery day here. Thankful it‘s not cold and snow! 3y
TheBookHippie @CocoReads I opened up too it‘s lovely ! 3y
JanuarieTimewalker13 That‘s excellent, your style saves lives. Andrew, what does bubble mean? 3y
Andrew65 @jhod Part and parcel of being a principal in a pandemic, to be honest got used to it. But it is exhausting at the same time. 3y
Andrew65 @CocoReads Most probably a winter bug, but so far this caution served us well in keeping it out of our school. First time we‘ve shut any bubble in the 10 weeks so far. All other local schools had multiple closures and cases in schools. (edited) 3y
Andrew65 @JanuarieTimewalker13 Basically each class is in a bubble. Staff only work in that one bubble, and children from different bubbles don‘t mix. That ensures if there is a case it doesn‘t spread around school. Staff from one bubble don‘t mix with another bubble. Some schools have year Group bubbles. We‘ve kept bubbles as small as possible. Some schools allow staff to work in different bubbles but we don‘t as would help any cases spread. (edited) 3y
Andrew65 @JanuarieTimewalker13 All classes come at different times and leave at different times to ensure not too many on grounds at same time. However they all get full school hours. At lunchtime one class goes in lunch hall at a time and take lunch to their classroom so children from different bubbles don‘t mix. This helps maintain a safe system as possible. Are many other controls too. Have to say children are loving being back. 3y
Andrew65 @JanuarieTimewalker13 Our attendance stands at 96.2% and was 96.9% last week. Well above the national average. 3y
JanuarieTimewalker13 Wow, what a smart system👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 3y
Andrew65 @JanuarieTimewalker13 It has taken a lot of work but is paying dividends, 3y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Nice weather here today and my day was fairly quiet until 2 hours ago when grandma asked me if I can drive her back home upstate. Her husband is in the hospital. So I just packed a few things, got gas, and now I'm about to leave to pick her up about 25 minutes south of my place to go 6 hours north. Don't worry! I have books and lots of pictures of my dog to comfort me once I'm there. 😁 3y
TrishB A tiring, long day with systems that just didn‘t want to work. How are we all still plodding on!? (edited) 3y
CBee @Andrew65 being over cautious is definitely not a bad thing right now! 👏🏻👏🏻 3y
Andrew65 @TrishB I know what you mean. I think one foot just automatically goes in front of the other. Most times!!! You saw how bad my Saturday was, one week in and I was totally exhausted and zonked out (technical term). Headache and no energy, and zero get up and go. Had got up and gone! Sending positive energy to you. ❤️ (edited) 3y
Andrew65 @CBee That‘s what I think. Got us through so far, 10 weeks in and no positive cases despite being in some of our families. 3y
JacqMac Another day another snowstorm. We still don‘t have a kitchen sink. Plumber called and said they could get here Friday. I said that‘s awfully far away. I think she liked that I was nice, so she added us to the urgent list. There has been so much bad news today I can‘t even cover it all. Looking forward to tomorrow‘s holiday. Maybe nothing bad will happen. Maybe. lol 3y
Andrew65 @JacqMac Who needs a kitchen sink. 😳 Keeping my fingers crossed for you. 3y
JacqMac @TrishB I really don‘t know how we are all still going on. At this point it‘s one hour at a time. 3y
Andrew65 @JacqMac @trishb I‘m often going one minute at a time, and even that can be too long.🤣 I keep going because the staff, children and parents need me to. They need to see a serene swan, even if below surface my legs are going like fiddlers elbows and have a meltdown when I go home. 3y
kezzlou85 Today was good. Didn't really achieve much but nothing bad happened. Enjoying the slightly milder temps too. 3y
Andrew65 @kezzlou85 Just need some sun, not seen any in 2 - 3 weeks. 3y
TrishB @Andrew65 @JacqMac same! The only place I have any space to moan is here! Work and family expect something else. 3y
IamIamIam Still moving... waiting for Friday!! 3y
Andrew65 @TrishB Exactly same for me too. Great that we can get things off our chests here. 😊🥰 3y
Andrew65 @IamIamIam Good luck 😊 3y
TheSpineView So glad someone is going the extra mile! I want to tell people to just wear the f'in mask and stay home as much as possible. I get that we are tired of this but it can't be helped. So put on your grown up pants, do what is best for your health and safety. As for me I was very busy today and the whole day flew by. No drama so it was good. 3y
Andrew65 @TheSpineView Well said. That is our school motto, going the extra mile. This is what we expect for anyone who works for us and what the children deserve and need from us. 3y
JacqMac @TheSpineView Yes! Personal responsibility. People are getting so annoying because they won‘t abide by the simple rules. And thank you @andrew65 for giving us a safe place to let things out. It‘s so much easier to let it go after you vent somewhere. 3y
CBee @Andrew65 incredible! I‘m amazed at your strength. I‘m nowhere near that strong!! 3y
CBee @TheSpineView YES!! Just wear the damn mask, stay home, wash your hands! It‘s not hard but so many have made it about “rights” and it‘s just..... not. ☹️☹️ 3y
Andrew65 @CBee Strangely personally I am not (one of biggest introverts going and avoid any conflict at all costs) but totally different person professionally. Not sure to this day how I manage that! 3y
Andrew65 @CBee The only right, is the right to live! @TheSpineView If that means I need to wear a face mask to save lives and help ensure hospitals are not overwhelmed then of course I am going to gladly. (edited) 3y
CBee @Andrew65 I‘ve worked from home for so long now (we run a pet sitting business) and it‘s really made me even more of an introvert (if that‘s even possible ha). Doubt I could handle working outside my house 😂😂 sad but true 3y
CBee @Andrew65 exactly!! 3y

Porthgwarra in Cornwall. #VirtualTour

How was Monday? I was awake a large part of the night due to the IBS, so not really the day to have to spend twelve hours working!🙈😴 Had the half-termly Governors meeting and two hours training linked to OFSTED visits this term! So only just got home. Now to find some time for #Scarathlon2020 and #Cocoturns50

#DailyCheckin

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I was off today and have been asleep for most of it! Back for 3 more 12‘s tomorrow! I hope you feel better soon!! 🙏🏻💙 4y
Andrew65 @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Thanks, got another scan on my stomach next week. Not helped when got stomach issues and IBS at the same time. Never any relief at the moment, but yesterday and last night was bad. A bit better today. Thanks ❤️ 4y

CocoReads Long day Andrew! I haven‘t done much reading. Feeling a bit sniffly (probably my winter cold coming early) so I‘veosy been dozing and resting. Have listened to a bit more storm front so audiobooking is helping right now for reading. Probably will get a bit more in this evening. Did not go vote this morning as it was cold and raining. Probably will go tomorrow when it‘ll just be cold. 4y
TrishB Sorry you‘re not feeling any better. My IBS flares up with stress, but difficult not to be stressed. I had a catch up online call with 2 friends as we can‘t see each other again now, just normal catch ups do help normality! 4y
jb72 Not much here. I‘ve been way too lazy. Making garlic pizza for dinner. 4y
Lynnsoprano So sorry, really hope all works out. All day rain here, absolute buckets. 4 inches in the rain gauge so far. So lots of reading time. Did venture out to the library, as hubby‘s hold came in. First we‘ve gone since March. Felt okay going straight to the hold shelf, finding the book, self-checking. We decided we feel comfortable doing that, but not planning on browsing, which is most of the fun. 4y
BookwormM Not much here either fun and games getting phone line fixed today all is good now 4y
Birdsong28 Sorry to hear you are still unwell. Sending you lots of postive thoughts and energy 😊📚📖 4y
kezzlou85 Hope you manage some reading time. Been a busy day here. Been talking parking with my youngest school. Parents just park wherever they want double yellow lines, zig zags outside the school, bus stops its a nightmare then if asked to move they mouth off at the school. They have enough to worry about without parking. 4y
Andrew65 @kezzlou85 Yes major issue for all schools. The school along the road from us tried to get children acting as mini Marshalls supported by PCSOs and were abused by parents! What is the world coming to. 4y
Andrew65 @Birdsong28 Thanks. 😍 4y
Andrew65 @TrishB My wife said need to stop getting stressed but far easier said than done especially in these circumstances. (edited) 4y
Andrew65 @TrishB Secondary school across from us only has 1 1/2 year groups in following confirmed case over past week. 4y
kezzlou85 @Andrew65 yep. Where we are we have three schools and two nurseries all close together in one area so it does lead to reduced parking but there's still no need to be rude. If I drive I park at the social club close by. They allow it and its not causing any trouble for anyone else. 4y
TheSpineView Just the usual work day for me. I did manage to sneak in a little over an hour of reading today at lunch with no interruptions. 4y
CBee It's just..... Monday. Enough said. Ready for a better day tomorrow! 4y
Andrew65 @CBee 4 days and get a break from school for a week. 🤞🤞🤞 We avoid a confirmed case in those 4 days. 4y
JanuarieTimewalker13 Hope you feel better, Andrew!! “Monday, Monday, can‘t trust that day”. Well, mine was OK, just had an appointment with hematologist and did a bit of food shopping. Watching “The Awakening” in fits and starts bc it‘s spooky!! 4y
CBee @Andrew65 Breaks are good! Enjoy! 4y
IamIamIam Of course, updating on Tuesday 😂 We're remote learning today because Jo took a covid test yesterday and #NORONA, thank you very much! Fall allergies suck.. @Andrew65 Hope you feel better! IBS has to be a bitch with all this stress! Flare ups are probably brutal. I'm so sorry! 4y

Porthcothan in Cornwall. Never been there but worth a visit by the look of the beauty of it. #VirtualTour

How has Saturday been? Time to draw breath today and focus in #24B4Monday. Readathon is helloing me limit thinking about school and Covid

#DailyCheckIn

kezzlou85 Been a good day as spent it with my brother who i haven't seen since December. Good to catch up. 4y
CocoReads Worked today but it wasn‘t very eventful (which means tomorrow might be a zoo). The most exciting thing was we tripped a breaker in the break room using all the appliances and ac at the same time. But I called maintenance and they fixed it. Good thing too because we have ice cream in our freezer. 🤣🤣🤣 4y

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I‘m having a great day!! I‘m spending the day with a wonderful man who also likes to read. Best weekend I‘ve had in a while ❤️❤️ 4y
BookwormM Lazy day here might have fallen asleep on the sofa after lunch 🤣🤣 4y
Velvetfur Beautiful photos! I've been on my tablet all day, learning new skills via Open University free courses, making lots of notes so now my writing hand hurts 😁 My elderly cousin phoned for a chat (actually my Mum's cousin) so that was nice to have family contact after a while 🙂 4y
Andrew65 @kezzlou85 That must have been great. 4y
Andrew65 @CocoReads Glad the ice cream didn‘t melt! 4y
Andrew65 @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Love hearing this, enjoy it because you so deserve it. 🥰🥰🥰 (edited) 4y
Andrew65 @BookwormM 🤣🤣🤣 4y
Andrew65 @Velvetfur Yes we rarely write these days, amazing how much that can hurt the hand! 4y
TheSpineView It has been a nice weekend so far. Reading coming along good for me.❤📚 4y
Hooked_on_books I rarely comment, but I‘m still enjoying your pictures! Thanks for the virtual travel tour. 4y
Andrew65 @Hooked_on_books Glad to hear you are enjoying the tour. 😊 4y
Andrew65 @TheSpineView That‘s great. 4y
TheBookHippie The tour is beautiful. I‘m taking my anxiety out on my house. It‘s all decorated for fall now and clean and I made fish tacos ✊🏼 4y
JacqMac Glad you had some time. We went outside to enjoy the fall before it disappears. We had a nice long walk along the river. The water is always so relaxing. Now hopefully I‘ll get to finish my book. 4y
kezzlou85 @Andrew65 it really was. With both my parents gone, he's my one link to the side of my family. 4y
gradcat @Andrew65 Saturday was truly lovely... I hope yours was the same xx 4y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Andrew65 thank you Andrew! You know my luck so fingers crossed 🤞 I hope you had a great weekend and got to relax 💙 4y

Just had to stop at Stinking Cove, what a great name! #VirtualTour

How was Thursday? Busy tonight writing up my report ready for my Appraisal tomorrow. Tricky this year when most things stopped mid year and no end of year assessments, apart from Teacher Assessments showing what they were on track for.

#DailyCheckIn

Itchyfeetreader Of just left my comment on yesterday. Sorry I have been MIA for a while - life has been hard and busy and I came off social media for a little bit! How is everyone else doing? 4y
Lynnsoprano Really quiet day here. Good luck tomorrow. 4y

kezzlou85 Better than yesterday but anniversary of my mums death 18 years today. Was nice and peaceful at her grave though plus the sun was shining. 4y
Andrew65 @Itchyfeetreader This is here for people to check in whenever they can or want to. Never feel the need to apologise and always here for you. 😊 4y
Andrew65 @Lynnsoprano A quiet day sounds good. Thanks 🥰 4y
Andrew65 @kezzlou85 That‘s good, have my full sympathy for your dog 🥰 Always good to reach out to those loved ones we have lost. 4y
IamIamIam Getting ready to go into my first job interview in 15 years!!! And at a gorgeous library too! 🤞🤞🤞 I'm so flipping nervous!!!! Haha 4y
BookwormM @IamIamIam good luck 4y
BookwormM Another quiet day at work not feeling good about it 4y
Andrew65 @IamIamIam Good luck, you‘ll be great! 😊 4y
Andrew65 @BookwormM You‘ll far from alone in this! 4y
TrishB @Itchyfeetreader nice to see you 👍🏻 4y
TrishB @IamIamIam good luck 😘 4y
TrishB Andrew- hope it goes well. 👍🏻 4y
Andrew65 @TrishB Thanks 😍 4y
TheBookHippie Good luck ...I‘m looking for our marbles location still 😝 4y
Andrew65 @TheBookHippie Might have to hide away with our marbles! 4y
TheBookHippie @Andrew65 true story 4y
Velvetfur I love that big main photo, such gorgeous colours! Appraisals must be awkward to do considering this year, good luck with them 👍🏻I've done nothing physical today, all intelectual, reading this n' that, so I'll have to do a home workout tomorrow as I can already feel myself stiffening up and my legs are slightly sore! Silly me 😜 4y
CocoReads Pretty! Thursday isn‘t too bad but I‘m at work for another couple of hours. But I‘m off tomorrow! Yay! Because I work the weekend. Boo! 4y
TheSpineView God luck with your appraisal!🤞 Today was good. Just an average day. I did manage to sneak in a book review amongst my work. So behind on reviews. While some people have had trouble reading, for me it has been writing the reviews. Also, I have wanted to read not but books I could escape into. Nothing serious. The world is more than serious enough. 4y
kezzlou85 @Andrew65 thank you for your kind words. It really is. 4y
Texreader Good luck tomorrow! 4y
Andrew65 @Texreader Thanks 😊, 12.25am Appraisal Report finished, now time for bed! 💤 4y
tracey38 @Andrew65 good luck tomorrow. Love the pictures here today, just gorgeous. It's been a rough couple days here since my mom's been home from the hospital. But the home health nurse, OT, and PT have all stopped by and say she's doing well at this point from surgery. It's just hard for her to see it yet. I'm tired but doing OK. 4y
Andrew65 @tracey38 Thanks 😊 Sending best wishes for your mum‘s recovery, but also make sure you look after yourself. 🥰 (edited) 4y
Itchyfeetreader Thanks @TrishB and @Andrew65 it‘s been such a weird year hasn‘t it! 4y
Andrew65 Oh yes and looks like rest of the year and more will be the same. 😢 4y
IamIamIam Thanks everyone! Things seemed to go really well! Just need to see how many other people were interested since it's civil service & keep but fingers crossed that I made a good impression! 💜 4y

How has the end of the week been? I led some training for the new Initial Teacher Training Trainees on Zoom, which was a nice refreshing change based on constantly talking and thinking about Risk Assessments and Covid. Despite being on Zoom using the Chat function went well. Nice to talk education and not safety! Very worrying the rapidly increasing number of cases once more 😔

#DailyCheckIn

BookwormM Well today has been a funny one estate agent called to say viewer thought lounge was too small so we thought ok move on then about 30 minutes later called to say they are really keen and want 2nd viewing tomorrow we said 10 as we are busy but they are viewing another property at 10 now coming next Weds if they don‘t cancel. Obs not that keen 🤣🤣 we haven‘t found anywhere yet so not too bothered just time wasting is annoying 4y
Lynnsoprano Glad you had a good day, and glad your Zoom session went well. Hubby is scheduled to teach the plant pathology section of the master gardener course in two weeks, and he‘s nervous about doing it on Zoom. He‘s used to making it very interactive, answering lots of questions, and has been afraid it will be too much lecture. I‘ve told him chat should help it work, now I‘ll use your experience to back it up😄 4y

JanuarieTimewalker13 These photos, once again, magnificent. I wonder how the heck we‘re going to get out of this COVID quagmire. I can‘t remember how long the Pandemic Of 1918 took to finally fizzle out, but I‘m pretty sure it was 2 years or so bc of 2 waves. Influenza was a good book to read, it def gave me perspective. 4y
CocoReads Love these photos. Had an appointment today for possible biopsy but the dr did some further imaging and really took the time to tell and show me the areas and what they look for. In the end he said he was 98% sure I didn‘t need one and to come back in 6 months to see if anything changes. I‘m good with that. Now I can enjoy the rest of the weekend. 4y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Cornwall looks a little more built up since Poldark was on those shores. 😆 After 3 long days in the office I did a little work from home and some light cleaning today. I'm about to sit on the couch and read (if the dog lets me). Despite taking a daily pill, my allergies feel strong this week, too. My nose and eyes are itching like crazy. But hey, it could be a whole lot worse so I'm fortunate. Enjoy your weekend everyone! 4y
JacqMac What lovely pictures! Living in the mountains now, I really miss being near the ocean. Hubby found out today that he‘s going to need brain surgery for his aneurysm. So that fun time is still ongoing. Hopefully, I can keep him relaxed until we get to talk to the surgeon. This has really been quite a year. I hope everyone has a nice weekend. 4y
Andrew65 @BookwormM yes time wasters are very annoying but you never know. I hate it when people feel they can criticise your house. 😡 4y
Andrew65 @Lynnsoprano We were very nervous too but found we soon settled into it. On Monday hoping to do an assembly that way with it playing into each classroom. Trying to finalise whether we do it by Microsoft Teams or Live stream on YouTube. In some ways chat made it even more interactive but helped there were two of us. Allowed questions at points there wouldn‘t usually be questions. Wishing him good luck. 4y
Andrew65 @JanuarieTimewalker13 Yes it was two years I think, but this is a different type of virus so worried it could go on and on and on unless we do get a vaccine. 4y
Andrew65 @CocoReads That‘s great news! 😊 4y
Andrew65 @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Allergies are the worst, hope you have a good weekend. 4y
Andrew65 @JacqMac Sending love and best wishes, hope everything goes well and smoothly. Take care. 🥰 4y
JanuarieTimewalker13 Yes, different. One is an influenza and one is a SARS. I don‘t quite understand the difference, however. I guess it‘s like comparing HIV and Hep C, both viruses but different. 4y
JanuarieTimewalker13 I‘ve always said (in reference to whatever problem du jour I was experiencing) “It all works out in the end or you die, and then you have no problems” hahaha...that helped me not to worry about pretty much anything. Just do your personal best🤙🏽 (edited) 4y
Andrew65 @JanuarieTimewalker13 Very timely and great advice. 4y
JanuarieTimewalker13 Oh good!🌻❤️😘 4y
TheSpineView I too am worried about the rise in cases. I knew it would happen when in classroom school started again. Kids must don't understand and despite our best efforts I think the virus will spread. Case in point, I saw a meme about a kid who comes home with a different mask than he left with. When his mom asked where "his" mask was he said he traded with Tim, and Tim traded with John and so on. He liked the other kids mask better.⬇️ 4y
TheSpineView Kids don't think the way adults do. The kid was told to wear a mask and is his mind he was following the rules. 4y
kezzlou85 It was awful. Eldest woke in the middle of the night with indigestion then started panicking. Was up all night with her. She's got so much anxiety at the moment and ended up missing school. 4y
Andrew65 @kezzlou85 Sounds as if you are having an awful time. So much anxiety around at the moment. Take care, sending love and best wishes 🥰 4y
kezzlou85 @Andrew65 she really is. Its not so much school but more the bus getting to school. I think its sparked off so many other worries. Bless her. Thank you so much. Hoping for a better week next week. 4y
Andrew65 @kezzlou85 🤞🤞🤞🤞 4y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I just have to say that scrolling past this post today I noticed that sunset photo is even more beautiful than yesterday. 4y
gradcat I really appreciated your taking all that time to explain to me what you‘re going through. It‘s a lot, isn‘t it, and I‘m surprised that you‘re not crazy yet. Meanwhile, I‘m really going to feel bad for you when cold/flu season starts, because it‘s going to complicated, I suspect. Good luck, Andrew, and don‘t forget to take care of yourself!! ♥️ 4y
Andrew65 @gradcat Perhaps I‘m already beyond crazy 🤣 Trying to ensure down time at weekends. 4y

Crackington Haven in Cornwall today. #VirtualTour

How has today been? Been a bit of a Knight, are today and been working non stop since getting up, not helped with very little sleep last night to issue that giving me pain. Positive note first 3 days every child been at school at some point and attendance Dover first 3 days 96.5%. But now 1 member of staff and a number of children waiting for test for Covid as got temperature or cold. 👇

Andrew65 But of course they can‘t book a test and not any available fir at least two days and no separate system for tests for school staff. How ridiculous. Insert own words here! 😡😡😡 4y
BookwormM Sounds like a nightmare hope they turn out just to have colds. We visited Wolvesey Castle today and nice walk in Winchester 4y
See All 48 Comments
TheSpineView What a horrible situation you are in. Then in pain on top of that. I don't know how you do it. Wishing you better days! 🙏 As for myself, back at work today after the holiday. Busy but doable. 4y
TrishB 😮☹️ this country.... 4y
CocoReads Hope it‘s just a cold. System wide we have a shortage of tests ourselves. 😡 today was ok. Lots of useless and repetitive stuff because other departments couldn‘t get their 💩 together and do one order (surgery, I‘m looking at you) so I ran down there way more than I should have. Otherwise not a bad day. Rainy and chilly and I love it! 4y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick That sounds so worrisome! I hope it's just colds or allergies for those with symptoms. I'm in the office this week. I found out the re-alignment that happened a few weeks ago means I am now only selling for 2 locations instead of 3. Much of it seemed temporary when I was assigned 2 new ones to my usual one, so I know it's not a slight to me. It's just hard being here when I don't need to be. But when the boss wants you in, you gotta go. 4y
JanuarieTimewalker13 I got some kind of vicious bug bite that has my right eye half closed. A bit hard to read, but it‘s getting better. Besides hip and foot pain and 1 1/2 working eyes, it‘s been a peaceful day. Getting old is definitely a privilege, but it‘s a mixed bag of goods. Hope things work out at your school!! Keep on keepin‘ on and hopefully you will get a good nights sleep tonight!💫😴 4y
IamIamIam Hopefully it's a run of the mill virus that's going around. They're still out there! Hope all goes well with staff and students!! I just got finished with all my homework from the first day of school! 😂 Kids had a great day and my son said he's really comfortable going back to school tomorrow. 🤞 Just hope it lasts!!! 4y
Lynnsoprano Oh, no! Hope everything is okay for you and for your staff/students. One of my former colleagues had a former student die of presumed Covid this weekend. So sad, she was 20 yo. Busy day, nothing special, just household chores, more recording, a shorter walk than usual. 4y
Andrew65 @TheSpineView There were times today I didn‘t want to do as a number of things on top of what I mentioned. Winchester sounds heavenly. @BookwormM (edited) 4y
Andrew65 @TrishB Totally incompetent and risking people‘s lives. If as schools we didn‘t have everything ready for September we would have been hauled over the coals. Totally unacceptable. 😡🤯 4y
Andrew65 @CocoReads I don‘t know what‘s gone wrong. The last test needed in July was easy and no problem. 4y
Andrew65 @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I believe most, if not all will be negative and be usual colds for this time of year. System going to go in meltdown as young children pick up temperatures so easily. 4y
Andrew65 @JanuarieTimewalker13 Now worked 15 hours solid apart from the drive. Sounds awful for you. Hope you are feeling better soon. 🥰 4y
Andrew65 @IamIamIam Thanks I‘m sure it will be but better safe than sorry. Good luck for tomorrow. Our children are loving being back. 4y
Andrew65 @Lynnsoprano Sending all my sympathies 😔 That is awful! (edited) 4y
TheBookHippie Shit show here🤣🤣🤦🏽‍♀️ hope it‘s just colds by you!!!!! 4y
TheBookHippie @CocoReads shit show here too 🤷🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️ hope it gets better down there! 4y
TheBookHippie @Lynnsoprano oh how very sad. We had a college kid this weekend die as well 22. So heartbreaking ... 4y
tracey38 I know with season changing that many have allergy and sinus issues. I dealt with it all weekend myself. I hope that's all I it is with your kids/staff. Of course, everything is looked at through COVID colored glasses now. And I'm sorry you are dealing with personal pain as well. Many hugs @Andrew65 ❤ As for me, back to work and was ok, though I still dealt with the sinus headache myself. 4y
CocoReads @TheBookHippie hope it gets better for you as well. The good news is, we do seem to be going down again but I‘m still pretty caution 4y
TheBookHippie @JanuarieTimewalker13 I agree what a mixed bag!!! Thankful to be above ground though! ✌🏻 4y
tracey38 Then my mom got word her surgery is now scheduled for 9/17. And she's in a mood. Probably anxiety again over thinking about the surgery. So we're dealing with that and the fact that she's having open heart surgery next week. 4y
TheBookHippie @TrishB I say this every other minute here 🤬 4y
CocoReads Cautious—still not dining out, I sat out a concert although my hubs went, book group is still meeting outdoors, which we figure we can probably only get away with for this month. Maybe October if we‘re lucky but probably not. 4y
TheBookHippie @tracey38 oh ughhhhh 4y
TheBookHippie @CocoReads colleges and a highschool have alarming numbers -otherwise we seem to be on right trend. HOLDING MY BREATH!!! 4y
tracey38 @Lynnsoprano so sorry to hear! @JanuarieTimewalker13 I hope you feel better soon! 4y
CocoReads @TheBookHippie colleges were driving ours up for sure (thanks Notre Dame) but most of our schools are still elearning. Some are open, some have a hybrid option, it‘s all touch and go. My sister had 2 days of in person teaching, then last week was all elearning but she went back to in person today. 🤞her school doesn‘t have any more cases (small private school). 4y
JanuarieTimewalker13 Holy cannoli!!! Yes, this is what my teacher friends are going through!!! My friend from RI is starting soon, and she‘s already stressed out!! 4y
JanuarieTimewalker13 @TheBookHippie Yeah, I‘m super grateful, bc there‘s still good times and I‘m mobile enough to still get around. Seeing Orthopedic surgeon soon. Everything has been delayed bc I‘m not comfortable with risking anything yet. I don‘t have a spleen or tonsils, so I‘m a welcome sign to a virus or bacteria. (edited) 4y
JanuarieTimewalker13 @tracey38 thank you🌻🌸💫😘 4y
TheBookHippie @JanuarieTimewalker13 I have bloodwork and my physical this week. Blech. I have hereditary anemia and autoimmune issues so I have to go but I‘m pretty anxious 😬. 4y
JanuarieTimewalker13 @TheBookHippie I have beta thalassemia Major. What kind of genetic illness is yours? Is it only anemia or is it like sickle cell or aplastic ? Those are the only other ones I know. (edited) 4y
TheBookHippie @JanuarieTimewalker13 I‘m Jewish so it‘s a hereditary iron deficiency passed down,Fanconi anemia, I get infused with iron&eat a specific diet to ward off getting a more serious kind. I have half the mutated gene not the whole, my grandma -great grandma -daughter and niece and I all have it the same way. Lots of testing to figure us out. I also have PCOS and endometriosis. I cannot take iron orally has to be infused. So it‘s managed but difficult. 4y
TheBookHippie @JanuarieTimewalker13 so yes sort of like aplastic. Apparently we are rare of the rare? I got diagnosed at 12. They actually study us at Mayo😳 4y
TheBookHippie @JanuarieTimewalker13 and we make good friends similarities I imagine. Do you bruise really easy too? 4y
JanuarieTimewalker13 Ok, what is the exact name of it? No, no bruising. I just have to get blood every 2 weeks, which has tethered me my whole life to hospitals, complete drag, yet I‘ve met wonderful people with my same illness. I went to NYPresbyterian most of my life. Yes, this is very rare unless you go to certain parts of Mediterranean and I think areas in Asia @TheBookHippie (edited) 4y
JanuarieTimewalker13 @TheBookHippie grew up with loads of kids with same thing bc NYP has large clinic. I also had a sister who died at 14 (before I was born) who had it (edited) 4y
JanuarieTimewalker13 @TheBookHippie Oh sorry, I missed your comment!!! Oh wow, interesting (edited) 4y
JanuarieTimewalker13 @TheBookHippie Wow, I‘m a mess. Sorry. I‘m tired. 4y
TheBookHippie @JanuarieTimewalker13 my sister died age 5. So sorry you lost yours as well. I‘ve managed quite well with treatment, it‘s been more difficult the last 20 years. I had a very tough patch 10 years ago for a few years. We as a whole improve much when past menopause -which is a blessing. Andrew we have high jacked your page❤️ 4y
JanuarieTimewalker13 @TheBookHippie oh wow!! Sorry for your loss😢I didn‘t know that sister, so it makes it easier. I didn‘t even know she passed from the same illness until I was 19. My mother didn‘t want me to think it would happen to me. Life is really something!!!☮️ 4y
TheBookHippie @JanuarieTimewalker13 I agree it‘s quite the ride 4y
Andrew65 @JanuarieTimewalker13 Even my stresses have stresses but better day today and Sunny! 4y
Andrew65 @TheBookHippie @JanuarieTimewalker13 Sending both of you all my love and best wishes. 🥰 The things you have and have had to deal with. Both of you heroes in my book! (edited) 4y

Not exactly book related but Littens are so helpful I thought I‘d ask. I am thinking of visiting Cornwall the next time I‘m in the U.K. does anyone have any tips or must-see suggestions? Thanks!
