I've just started this and wow it's so good! My copy is nearly falling apart but if I love it I'll probably invest in one that is in one piece.
Interesting use of a spy narrative to examine the natural alienation and fluid identity that makes up life for so many first-generation Americans, where the daily movements between home and the outside world are like passing back and forth between two countries with distinct cultures. Doesn't always hit the mark and the writing is a bit over the top in places, but the ambition is appreciated.
My Asian American literature picks begins with Chang-Rae Lee‘s Native Speaker. #aseries #asianamerican #asianamericanliterature
// ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ // This is a book about immigrant life, race relations, identity, belonging, tradition, necessary change, and so much more all marvelously packaged in great storytelling.
I did not want to rush through the pages of Native Speaker; it‘s a quiet read that provoked thought, gave insight, and touched me. A beautifully told story.

Also, speaking of starts, I'm watching the HBO version of Big Little Lies and boy did they do one of my favorite books justice. Fun! 🍭🍭🍭

During my wander around the library, I spotted some gems like this Penguin Drop Cap
Lazy Saturday reading in bed with three dogs and Chang-Rae Lee. Isn't this book gorgeous? My lovely ex boss bought me a bunch of these Penguin Drop Caps special editions as a going away present. Now I'm obsessed with eventually collecting the entire A-Z set.
