panSecond book I‘ve read by the author with no success. He is probably just not for me, but I don‘t really think this book is worthy of it‘s place on the #1001books list. 2⭐️

Not off to a good start with my #TBR1001 book for the month, seems it will be many pages packed with fluff/morality. For those of you who have read it, worth prevailing or should I bail?

so-soQuite philosophical. Honestly, I need a second read because I lost focus here and there. Bonus points for simple language and plain writing style, with the message being conveyed just the same!
I'd give it a 3/5 rating.
pickA stranger comes to the small village of Viscos. Using Miss Prym as his messenger, he makes the villagers an offer they can't refuse...or can they? This book moves quickly through the ten days as the villagers decide whether they will allow themselves to be tempted by evil. It was a fast 240 pages and I wish there would've been more turmoil shown among some of the villagers as they decide what to do. #Brazil #foodandlit @Butterfinger @texreader
These are my #foodandlit selections for January celebrating Brazil. I'll likely go through a cookbook, too, to see if there's anything I can make. I have to start the year off strong, right?!

so-soThis is a story that invokes old world story telling and philisophical debates over good v evil. When a small village is tempted to kill just one community member for a lifetime of riches, which triumphs? Is the little village as it is perceived--one of good hearts? Or is it susceptible to greed as the devil suspects? ...I just didn't care. The plot unfolded slowly and the characters were predictable.
pickThe pace of the book is slow but with the quaint backdrop of Viscos, it's a pleasant read. It explores the existence of the eternal war between good and evil in each of us, regardless of who we are.
As Ms. Prym struggles with her dilemma, you encounter the battle happening within yourself. Just like The Alchemist, I finished the book with a feeling of awe, self-realization and a smile.
pan240 pages pontificating on morality. Urgh. I don't know what I had been expecting (plot?), but it wasn't this. #onestar #unpopularopinion
I narrowed it down, I think! 😊 I mostly just grabbed some books off my shelves that fit the page requirement and didn‘t sound like they would hit any triggers we talked about. Side note: In Year of the Hare, he does accidentally run over a rabbit but it sounds like the rabbit then becomes a sort of spirit guide to the main character...If you guys don‘t like any of these, I have PLENTY more to choose from! 😄😄

Taking a break from school finals to finish reading this.Till now it's a so so kind of book.I do like Coelho's writing style though!!
so-soCompleted this short read as an audiobook on my way home from Springfield. I know some of you don't really like Coelho's writing style, but I really enjoy it. Story-wise, this was alright but not my favorite. If you haven't read anything by Paulo Coelho yet, don't start here. (Brida might be a good choice.) But if you already like his style, this is a quick and somewhat interesting read. And good narration for the audio! #LitsyAtoZ
pickI really enjoyed this short novel, as a best on the temptingly tested morals of good and evil. A man arrives in an impoverished village, offering a fortune in bars of gold, in exchange for a willing act of local murder. Miss Prym becomes the spokesperson and hopeful voice of reason, with some great philosophical dialogues between her and the stranger, while the village folks debate. The tensions of the tale makes a deep read!
pickI love the spiritual messages Paulo Coelho tells within his story. This was supposed to be one of my four books to complete in February, but I've already read it and it's not February . . . Still a good read though.
58 pages in and really enjoying it. Hopefully finish this short book by Tuesday.
