Is your child talking back? Refusing to bathe? Staying up past their bedtime? Call Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle, because she can handle it allllll. Author and former Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle super fan Meryl Wilsner joins me on my book podcast this week to jump into this extremely wacky world of child-rearing! ✨ Listen at the link in my bio.
My Mom would read to me and it was the lovliest memory….my favorite being the tagged series. I also loved Uncle Wiggly. And my Mom always took me to the library. She basically fed my love of reading.

I loved the Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle books when I was in 3rd grade. I found them in the El Dorado Public Library. I can still remember the shelf in the library and the blue cloth cover. I felt so grown up. I read them all.
I am delighted that my boys enjoyed reading Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle as much as I did when I was their age. They thought it was so funny! We read it in chapters before bed every night, and they clamored for more. It‘s so great to share a beloved childhood book with a new generation of kids.

Following up my beloved Mrs Frisby and the Rats of NIMH was a hard ask, but Beatrix enjoyed these quick and easy stories. There were some amusing moments for me too - particularly in the portrayal of the often sardonic, primarily absent and very hands-off fathers. I did not love it enough to continue on with the series - I would imagine they become quite repetitive although happy to be corrected if anyone has read them.
Ah, Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle! The delightful small chapter, semi-illustrated book about a friendly widow of a pirate whose house is built upside down and who dispenses remedies for common behavioral problems with children. My favorite ‘cure‘ was the Radish Cure for poor Patsy who didn‘t want to take a bath! 😂😂
If you‘ve read this, what was your fav cure?

Book #35 of the year: “Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle” by Betty MacDonald.
Iwas absolutely in love with all of the Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle books as a child. It‘s been years since I‘ve seen one so I was glad to revisit an old favorite! So much silliness and whimsy.

I loved Mrs. Piggle Wiggle growing up, so I was super excited when I saw the one of my favorite podcasts (Overdue) had done an episode on it. I just had to reread it for the #relatedtoapodcast for #booked2019. It was great listening to it with my daughter on the way to and from daycare! Can‘t wait to listen to the podcast
I loved Mrs Piggle Wiggle. I remember my Mom reading this to me and how we would laugh at the end of each story. ❤️

This little note was found in a library book today.
I “beleve” in magic. I see it everyday at the library.
E: reading
N: Hey Eleanor, wanna scratch my head a little while you're sitting there?
E: my hands are busy turning the pages.
