Whitethorn Woods | Maeve Binchy
43 posts | 14 read | 1 reading | 5 to read
A New York Times Bestseller "Love, longing, and rich scenes of daily life.... What could be sweeter than a trip to an Irish village packed with robust native characters." The Christian Science Monitor When a new highway threatens to bypass the town of Rossmore and cut through Whitethorn Woods, everyone has a passionate opinion about whether the town will benefit or suffer. But young Father Flynn is most concerned with the fate of St. Anns Well, which is set at the edge of the woods and slated for destruction. People have been coming to St. Anns for generations to share their dreams and fears, and speak their prayers. Some believe it to be a place of true spiritual power, demanding protection; others think its a mere magnet for superstitions, easily sacrificed. Father Flynn listens to all those caught up in the conflict, as the men and women of Whitethorn Woods must decide between the traditions of the past and the promises of the future.

Pickpick

I‘m slowly making my way through my collection of Maeve Binchy books. They‘re cozy, fun to read and I‘ve become accustomed to her large cast of characters (helps to have a physical copy). All characters across chapters had a tie back to St Ann‘s well -scheduled for destruction. Most chapters introduced characters that had a connection to previous chapters - so page flipping involved!

March #BookSpin Cat: Love That Cover 👇🏿

marleed I think part of why I still have unread MB books is that I know I won‘t read and donate - her books stay on my shelves because endsheets! They are beautiful and each one extends the cover art. 1mo
Ruthiella She was a consummate storyteller. I‘ve read a few of her books and enjoyed them all. 1mo
AvidReader25 I‘ve read all her books and they are such comfort reads for me. 1mo
TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!! 1mo
marleed @Ruthiella @AvidReader25 Maybe knowing there are no more comfort stories coming from her also keeps me reading only one book each March. I need to make my firsts with her last a bit longer! 1mo

New highway threatens to bypass Rossmore and Whitethorn Woods where people share their hopes, dreams and prayers at St. Anne‘s Well. The people need to decide between the traditions of the past and the promises of the future. I enjoy all Binchy‘s books as I find her characters and stories fascinating. Binchy is a gifted storyteller and I enjoy visiting all the Irish villages in her novels. Recommended!

Andrew65 Overall enjoyable but not my favourite by Maeve Binchy, too short storyish. 4y
EadieB @Andrew65 The short stories are not my favorite either but I still find the characters interesting. 4y
Andrew65 @EadieB Yes, always interesting characters. 4y

JacqMac I agree. I usually hate short stories. But her character development makes up for a lot, so it was an OK for me. lol 4y
EadieB @JacqMac These short stories are a little different as they center around a common theme of St. Anne's Well and the bypass. 4y
JacqMac @EadieB That‘s true. I also really This Year It Will Be Different, which is all short stories. She‘s just about the only author who‘s short stories I enjoy. 4y
EadieB @JacqMac I haven't read that book but I do own it. 4y

Final Discussion.

Question 6 of 6

EadieB I like the format of this book the best as I find all the characters interesting and there is always some type of theme with all the short stories which I like too. 4y
ljuliel I‘ll have to disagree on this one. I like Binchy‘s books, but she has a few that are written like this, telling the stories of multiple characters a piece at a time. I find it disjointed and harder to follow what‘s going on. I like her other books that start with a main set of characters that she carries throughout the story. Thank you Andrew, for leading the discussion. Great job. 👏🏻 👏🏻 4y
JacqMac There are so many characters sometimes it‘s hard to remember who everyone is. I‘m normally not a fan of short stories. And this was so much like short stories. But Maeve‘s character development is so great that she manages to keep me interested. It‘s not my favourite format, but she pulled it all together enough for me to enjoy it. 4y
Tove_Reads I could not stand the way the book was written. These could have been inserts in a weekly magazine. Too many characters not having anything to do with each other. The stories are too short. I think this is taking the easy way out, not really having to even write a book, just extremely short stories, and then publish them as a ‘novel‘. 4y
rubyslippersreads I prefer the books that follow just a few characters through the entire book, like Light A Penny Candle and Circle of Friends. But I really enjoyed the discussion, as I have all our Binchy reads. Thanks, @Andrew65 ! 4y

Question 5 of 6

EadieB I thought Neddy was trying to get the best deal for the property. He was being a bit unfaithful by not telling Claire what he was up to. 4y
ljuliel I guess I had a soft spot for Neddy in a way, since he wasn‘t maybe quite as sharp about life and making proper decisions or explaining why he was doing what he thought best. I‘m not sure I‘d call it being unfaithful if he didn‘t function as well mentally . Therefore, he looked at things in a more simple manner. (edited) 4y
JacqMac I didn‘t think he was being unfaithful. I did worry for a bit that he was making a big mistake. 4y
rubyslippersreads I couldn‘t imagine Neddy being unfaithful but, like @JacqMac , I was concerned he might be taken advantage of. 4y

Question 3 of 6

EadieB Laurence needs to let Caroline do what she wants to do. Sometimes taking care of the house etc. is just not enough to make a woman feel like a real person. Some women need to experience the working world in order to make them feel whole. Laurence needs to support Caroline in whatever she needs to do to make herself feel complete. Otherwise Caroline could hold a grudge and their relationship could fall apart. 4y
ljuliel Perfectly said, Eadie. I agree. Being a housewife isn‘t exactly a fulfilling career. Ask me. 👎🏼 4y
JacqMac I love being a housewife. But I know lots of women who need more or different. Laurence seemed very selfish to me. He put himself over her happiness. 4y
rubyslippersreads As I said in my previous comment, Laurence is selfish and doesn‘t want Carolyn to have any interests except taking care of him. 4y

Final Discussion.

Question 2 of 6

EadieB I think it's best to have at least 2 children as it is really easier when you have 2 or more as you don't have to entertain the children as much as the 2 children will entertain each other. 4y
ljuliel It‘s probably a bit more challenging to only have 1 , to raise them so they‘re not spoiled rotten. It‘d be too tempting to give them everything they ask for and you‘d probably want to do that if you only had 1. Plus it might be hard to be an only child. Lots of expectations because you‘re the only one that can fulfill your parent‘s hopes and dreams. (edited) 4y
JacqMac I always said no child deserves to be an only child. It‘s a lot of pressure. Not just when they are little, but when they are grown and have parents to deal with. I like having my brother to carry some of the load. Even though he isn‘t that great at it. Lol I imagine it might be a little lonely, too. 4y
Tove_Reads It‘s up to the parents and people raising the child. There might be many reasons behind having one child and these reasons are not others concern. I think it‘s absolutely no ones business to question other people‘s choices in this matter. 4y
rubyslippersreads I think in this case, it‘s because Laurence is so selfish, he‘s jealous of even his own children taking up Carolyn‘s attention. Once their son went off to boarding school, he thought he‘d have her complete attention again. 4y

Question 1 of 6

EadieB I think they need to confront their partner and ask them what is going on. Pretending that it isn't happening if just burying you head in the sand. You need to find out if your marriage can be restored or move on. 4y
ljuliel I agree with Eadie. Honestly is the best policy. That‘s the only way to have a healthy marriage. 4y
JacqMac I agree with @EadieB and @ljuliel I‘d confront them. Pretending doesn‘t make it go away, it just makes everything worse. 4y

TheBookHippie Hope you‘re feeling better! I‘m hoping to rejoin again! Oye. Life! I‘ve saved all the questions and stacked the books 🤣🤣🤦🏽‍♀️ (edited) 4y
Andrew65 @TheBookHippie Will be great to have you with us again. In November (19th) we will reading one of my favourites. Still having health issues and have been diagnosed with Gerd and Fatty Liver Disease (never heard of it before). Still doing regular blood tests to monitor the liver, hopefully with the big changes I have made in my diet (lost over a stone in weight) the liver readings will stabilise and improve. Next readings next week. 4y
Andrew65 @TheBookHippie Look forward to your replies. 😊👍 4y
TheBookHippie I‘ll pick up a copy! Hope you‘ll get back to tip top soon! 4y

Discussion of Chapters 10 - 13

Question 5 of 5

EadieB I think it was ok as the older folks were having some harmless fun. Poppy just needs to monitor things so things don‘t get out of control with the alcohol. 4y
ljuliel This was one of my favorite sections of the book. Poppy was born to have that job. She really did care for those elderly folks and wanted them to still have as much of their normal life as they could possibly have, even though they live in that place. She tried to make it as “fun” as possible. I think everyone kept the drinking under control with no problems, although if they got caught, it‘d not be good ! 4y
rubyslippersreads I don‘t think it hurt anything, as long as they don‘t get caught! 😄 4y
rubyslippersreads Do we ever find out what Poppy‘s real name is? She says there‘s a “worse one” on her birth certificate. 4y

JacqMac I think it‘s the end. He showed such a selfish and disrespectful side. And he couldn‘t even see it. 4y
ljuliel I think it was a real turnoff to her and she really didn‘t want to hear it any longer. 4y

JacqMac Amy and John don‘t seem to appreciate the things their parents did for them. There isn‘t a lot of respect from them. 4y

Question 2 of 5

EadieB I think it was a good idea that Hugo told Ken about Emer‘s feelings for him. Sometimes it means more coming from someone else. I do think if people are too cautious that is not a good thing as you could miss out on an important experience that could be life-changing. 4y
JacqMac I think it was a good idea, too. You can‘t have new experiences without taking some risks. 4y
ljuliel I thought it was good. I try to picture that happening here. When I read Binchy books, she makes it sound almost like a different planet over there. I always wonder if the people there are really like that or if it‘s all completely fiction based. I‘d like to think it‘s really like that. 4y
rubyslippersreads @ljuliel said it perfectly. I‘m not sure that what Hugo did would work out in real life. 4y
rubyslippersreads I‘m a little confused. At what point did Ken go back and help Emer “straighten ... up for that interview she‘s going to,” as Hugo suggested? 4y

Question 1 of 5

EadieB A daughter may want to be best friends with her mom at age 16 but not a good idea from a mom‘s perspective. 16 year olds need to be mothered at that age by a mother not a best friend. 4y
JacqMac Agreed @EadieB It‘s a bad idea. 4y
ljuliel You‘re walking a fine line between a parent / child. In a perfect world, a friendship would be great , but there‘s always a bit of an uneven relationship. If a mother puts themselves on even ground as a friend, you lose ground if you need to lay down rules or give advice. 4y

Question 5 of 5

ljuliel Yes I was surprised and yes he should have been honest. Now it makes him as guilty as her. Also not a very good marriage to be so “loyal” to your spouse that they lie to you, plus break the law and you don‘t speak up. It could backfire on everyone involved. 4y
EadieB I was surprised that James knew. He should have acted on this knowledge but I think it all boils down to the fact that he wanted to keep his mother happy. 4y
Andrew65 This was a real shock, he knew about it in advance and did nothing. He should have stopped this from happening, no excuses at all. Agree with @ljuliel he is as guilty as her! @EadieB (edited) 4y
See All 8 Comments
JacqMac So shocked. What a coward. 4y
Andrew65 @JacqMac That‘s certainly true. 4y
Tove_Reads I guess he just wanted to keep status quo. Probably loved and protected his family from all of this to keep the peace. I‘m sad to see she didn‘t trust him enough to tell him about it all. They could have legally adopted a child, and probably without people knowing about the adoption. 4y
rubyslippersreads I‘m not at all surprised that her husband would figure it out, but he shouldn‘t have been complicit in the kidnapping. 4y

Question 4 of 5

ljuliel This wasn‘t surprising. Of course I didn‘t know WHO took the baby but I figured it was a case if someone wanting a baby and stealing her. It‘s a Binchy book, so I didn‘t expect there to be a child murderer in the story like the true crime books I read. It was a pretty heartless way to handle things. She should have been honest to her husband. There might have been a day where an orphanage would keep quiet about it, but not here in our world . 4y
EadieB Helen's actions to get a baby was done out of desperation in order to have an heir for Natasha's estate but she never should have stolen somebody else's baby. I think the orphanage didn't report her because they knew her from when she lived at the orphanage and probably just didn't want to get involved. Despicable actions! 4y
Andrew65 Her actions were totally shocking and to be so premeditated about it...nine months of premeditation! The orphanage should not have helped cover this up. @EadieB @ljuliel 4y
See All 7 Comments
JacqMac It was awful. And the nuns not reporting it was also awful. Nobody involved even considered how this baby‘s actual family might be feeling. Everybody involved was so selfish! 4y
Tove_Reads Does not sound that Irish! I‘d like to know more about this whole ordeal. 4y
rubyslippersreads This seemed awfully far-fetched to me, that Helen could pull this off successfully. 😏 4y

Question 3 of 5

EadieB Yes I do think they should build the road. It's progress to have the heavy truck traffic travel around the town instead of through it. Goods will be delivered more efficiently. 4y
Andrew65 @EadieB Safety wise it sounded like this bypass was needed. But given the well they need to look at making some plans for this so that both can sit side by side and people can still access it safely. A small adaptation in plans should allow this. 4y
EadieB @Andrew65 Yes, I'm sure they could divert the road in order to keep the well. 4y
See All 8 Comments
Andrew65 @EadieB Surely a country as religious as Ireland that would be essential. 4y
EadieB @Andrew65 Yes they should understand how important the well was to the community. 4y
ljuliel Making the road go around the well area would probably be for the best from an outsider looking in, but you hear so many really good reasons for and against the road going right through, it almost seems to be one of those decisions where it‘d depend on the person and you can see both viewpoints. Both sides have good answers. If it were me, I‘d probably vote to leave the town as is because coming from a small town, you get used to how things are. 4y
JacqMac I grew up in a tiny town. People who live in them are always so resistant change. I think the change would be a good thing. But I can understand the fear. People don‘t like the unknown and they don‘t know how it might effect them. 4y
Tove_Reads Probably. Would have to be part of the community to really know. 4y

EadieB She was contemplating a relationship with Dr. Dermot but I think Chester Kovac is better for Hannah as Dr. Dermot is selfish and arrogant. 4y
Andrew65 She was much better off with Chester, Dr Dermot acted like a total jerk! Who would want to be with someone who was so selfish and arrogant. @EadieB (edited) 4y
ljuliel Sorry, I‘m going to have to pass on this answer. I‘ve already completed the book, and frankly, there were so many characters , it was hard at times to keep track of them all . No answer for this one. 4y

Andrew65 @ljuliel Hannah was the one who went in and did Dermot‘s Books, made him food and had ‘designs‘ on Dermot. 4y
JacqMac Hannah is so much better off with Chester. Dr. Dermatologist was took advantage of her. He took a lot and didn‘t give anything in return. Happy relationships can‘t work that way. 4y
Tove_Reads I think she‘ll be happy with him! The one she‘s been waiting for her whole life, but never thought she‘d meet someone like him. Sweet! 4y

Question 1 of 5

EadieB He did't want to pay special attention to his patients but treated Dr. Jimmy White with arrogance when he started losing patients. Can't have it both ways. 4y
Andrew65 @EadieB I thought it was disgraceful the way he behaved. First he didn‘t go to the pregnant woman at night, which but for Dr White the baby would have died. Then left for holiday knowing 3 people likely to die and gave them over to Dr White‘s care knowing this. This destroyed Dr White‘s reputation so unfairly. 4y
EadieB @Andrew65 He really is a nasty man! 4y
See All 11 Comments
Andrew65 @EadieB Most definitely and Maeve Binchy got me, as at first I thought we were meant to like him. 4y
EadieB @Andrew65 I know I was starting to not like Dr. Jimmy White taking over Dr. Dermot's patients until Dermot started being so nasty. 4y
Andrew65 @EadieB Me too! 4y
ljuliel It wasn‘t really surprising to me that he did that. I think in a small village like this, the competition would be fierce. The old guy who knows everyone and used to have all the business , now gets threatened by the young guy. It was a pretty nasty way to try to keep patients on his side. 4y
JacqMac I can understand why he felt the way he did, but change isn‘t a bad thing. Especially in this case. He was just a jerk. 4y
Tove_Reads Sounds like something a person like him would do. He‘s lazy, and this was his way of fixing the problem without doing pretty much nothing. 4y

EadieB I thought Barbara came up with a great idea to invite all these people to her party. It took her mind off of her so called friends who didn‘t invite her on their trip and she gave some misfortunate people a great day that they will remember forever! 4y
JacqMac I think Barbra handled that really well. It explained why people think so highly of her. And what a perfectly fantastic party! 4y
ljuliel This is one of the reasons I like Binchy‘s writing. She somehow manages to take a sad situation and make it all come out ok in the end . I‘m not quite sure I understand why the coworkers didn‘t include Barbara in the holiday plans..did she come across like she wasn‘t interested , did they not really like her? I‘m not sure, but her party was a good idea and turned out great, to invite such a wide variety of people who all got along and had fun. 4y

Question 2 of 5

EadieB A situation like this can be very tricky as most women who are in love with someone are not too apt to believe something derogatory about the person they are about to marry. It could ruin their friendship and she would probably marry him anyway. I think it‘s best that she find out for herself. 4y
JacqMac I don‘t know. I couldn‘t live with myself if I didn‘t tell my best friend something like that. She should have told her. Before the wedding. I think their friendship would have been strong enough to survive. 4y
ljuliel That‘s a touchy one. I think it‘s an individual decision, depending on the people involved. I wouldn‘t be able to stand by , knowing that information, but not telling her. A lot of times it backfires, the friend gets mad at you for telling them, and she stays with the guy anyhow. 4y
See All 6 Comments
EadieB @ljuliel That‘s my feeling too. I had a friend years ago that dated a married man for about 10 years. I kept telling her that he was not leaving his wife and you are wasting good years dating him. She refused to listen to me and stayed in this dumb relationship and just wouldn‘t tell me anything more about him. I learned that people are going to do what they want no matter what you tell them. 4y
ljuliel Agreed, @EadieB . It‘s frustrating to see someone waste so much time on someone who isn‘t going to enrich their life, but usually make it worse . I have a friend who‘s single. She‘s been divorced for many years . Every guy she dates now is either another cheater, abusive, drunk, won‘t work, etc. She‘s so pretty but she seems to pick all the Rotten Apples. JacqMac I agree with @EadieB Something that important in a relationship needs to be discussed and agreed upon. 4y
ljuliel I agree with both the above answers ,because it could cause issues between them if either partner keeps a secret that big. That being said, I‘m sort of on the fence with this one, as it‘s almost always the female‘s responsibility to give up everything else in her life for her kids , while men still have the freedom to work, hang out with friends etc. Most of the responsibility for child care is on the mother. She should have talked to him about it 4y

Discussion of Chapter 1 - 3

Question 4 of 4

EadieB Going to a singles holiday worked out for Vera and Sharon. They both met partners and became great friends in the process. 5y
ljuliel It seemed to work well for each of them , and I especially liked the way Vera put herself out there , went on the trip where she knew she probably wouldn‘t fit in age- wise, but I liked how she met a person her age that seemed to click well with her. 5y
JacqMac I love Vera. I like the way all the pieces of their story fit together. (edited) 4y
Tove_Reads Vera is a great character! Hope she finds real happiness 4y
Andrew65 This is quite a strange relationship given the difference in ages but it definitely seemed to work. What‘s not to like about Vera, but surprised how reluctant she was to take things further. @EadieB @ljuliel @JacqMac @Tove_Reads 4y

Discussion of Chapter 1 - 3

Question 3 of 4

EadieB Clare‘s family totally ignored the fact that her uncle was a sexual abuser just because he owned the property where they lived. 5y
ljuliel Definitely. It sounds as if she really didn‘t have anyone willing to stand up for her, protect her, and help her, so it was nice that when she met Neddy, they both had something the other was looking for. 5y
JacqMac Poor Clare. I‘m so glad that she‘s with Neddy, too. He will give her a good and happy life. 4y
See All 6 Comments
Tove_Reads This sounds like the “good auld Irish way” of ignoring things because someone was a priest, or was rich and so on. 4y
Andrew65 This really annoyed me, talk about being let down on a massive scale by those that should have protected her. 😡🤬 Neddy was just what she needed and deserved. @EadieB @ljuliel @JacqMac @Tove_Reads 4y
rubyslippersreads Her parents completely let their daughters down. I loved when Geraldine figured out her own way of dealing with Uncle Niall. 4y

Discussion of Chapter 1 - 3

Question 2 of 4

EadieB He wasn‘t book smart but he did know how to manage. I was impressed with his ability to save so much money that he didn‘t really earn. 5y
ljuliel I really like his character. He might not have been as “ book smart “, but I think he was able to handle specific tasks and do them well, plus he was kindhearted, which made up for his possible lack of knowledge. 5y
JacqMac There are all different kinds of smart. Just look at how much he achieved. 5y
See All 6 Comments
Tove_Reads The ones who are smartest on paper are not usually the ones who are good with people or practical matters. Luckily, you can do extremely well in life without being book smart. 4y
Andrew65 Neddy came across as very smart in the end, and much smarter than those around him. At times he was a touch naive but in the end made this work for him. At truly great character. @EadieB @ljuliel @JacqMac @Tove_Reads (edited) 4y
rubyslippersreads I think Neddy had a lot of common sense, as well as being kind. And Kit was too smart for his own good. 😏 4y

Discussion of Chapter 1 - 3

Question 1 of 4

EadieB Site to ask for healing. Reminds me of this place: Saint Joseph's Oratory of Mount Royal in Montreal Canada. It is a Roman Catholic minor basilica and national shrine. On display in the basilica is a wall covered with thousands of crutches from those who came to the basilica and were purportedly healed. Pope John Paul II deemed the miracles to be authentic and beatified Brother André in 1982. In October 2010 Pope Benedict XVI canonized the saint. 5y
ljuliel I don‘t know a lot about the Catholic religion, so I‘m not very educated in this area. I don‘t remember exactly, but wasn‘t there a girl at Lourdes that supposedly had the wounds in her hands, like being nailed to a cross, and people came to her for healing ? I think there are lots of people who need help , and they are hopeful that they can find solace . The church probably wishes people would depend on them, rather than other places ? 5y
JacqMac I think everyone needs hope. This is the kind of hope people look for when nothing else works. I‘m not a believer, but I think if it helps you to keep going, then go for it. 5y
Tove_Reads Every Catholic village in Ireland would like to have their own little Lourdes. If you want to believe in something feel free to do it, if it doesn‘t hurt others. 4y
Andrew65 These sites do give people hope as @JacqMac says. I‘m sure the churches would rather you went to them and had faith. But when those difficult times in life it is easy to just give up hope!. Like @ljuliel not catholic but from the outside appears they recognise these miracles but put the religious spin on it but quite naive about this so could be calling it wrong. I‘m with @Tove_Reads if you want to believe what is the harm. @eadieb 4y

ljuliel Thanks Eadie. I just replied to your email. It‘s funny you should mention the next Binchy readathon. I‘m currently rereading her first book, so I dropped a note to Carolyn and Andrew to ask what book they‘d be reading next , and when. I just asked them this morning ! (edited) 5y

EadieB @ljuliel that‘s funny! Glad you can join us. You only have 2 books on your wishlist. Will you be adding more? 5y
ljuliel I just checked my Amazon wish list, but I usually just stick books in there that aren‘t out yet , to remind me to look for them when they come out. I‘ll try to think of a couple others to put in my wish list. I‘ve just never made a habit of putting much in there. It‘ll be fine if you just send this one .💕 5y
EadieB @ljuliel ok thanks! 5y
EadieB @ljuliel Mailed your book early this morning. Delivery is for Saturday hopefully it will come by Friday. 5y
ljuliel Thank you @EadieB I also mailed your book this morning, due to arrive Saturday. I guess we‘ll both get some fun mail that day. 🙂 5y

Andrew65 @Tove_Reads Not sure why we were given a referendum if not stand by decision, whatever way each individual voted. 5y
EadieB @Andrew 65 Ok thanks for letting me know about Whitethorn Woods! 5y
Andrew65 @EadieB Lot of the issues have delayed me being able to get the book and time quite precious over the next week. Hardly posted on Litsy over the past two weeks. 5y
EadieB @Andrew65 And how is the other problem doing? 5y
Andrew65 @EadieB Very much the same. Acid still an issue and continuing with modification of my diet for the Liver issue and then another blood test in 3 weeks. Stress at work not helping! 5y
EadieB @Andrew65 Yes stress can be an issue. Sorry to hear acid is still a problem. Just may take more time until your liver is doing better! 5y
Andrew65 @EadieB Yes, think liver will be a long term thing as I try to reduce carbohydrate intake. 5y

JacqMac Hmm... I don‘t think I own this one. I hope things settle down for you @Andrew65 5y
Andrew65 @JacqMac I had to get this one from the library, thanks 😊 (edited) 5y
JacqMac Oh, good news. I do own it. It was on the bottom of my Maeve stack. Which is good because the library doesn‘t own it. lol 5y
Andrew65 @JacqMac Great news 😊 5y
ljuliel I‘m going to try jumping in for this one if it‘s ok. @EadieB was kind enough to share an extra copy of the book with me. Can I ask how these work ? Is there a set number of pages or chapters at a time, or just a day when you complete it and have the questions ? 🌹. Hope things get sorted out for you soon @Andrew65 5y
Andrew65 @ljuliel We tend to split the book into around 5 sections and aim to read a section every couple of days or so (depends on the length). I will then post 4 or 5 discussion questions for each section for people to get to as they finish the section. Very informal. First questions likely to be on 27th or 28th. I will post the schedule later this week. Hope this helps and is clear enough. Great to have you joining us. 😊👍 (edited) 5y
Andrew65 @ljuliel Thanks been a difficult few months, and unfortunately health issues ongoing. But trying to just get on with things. 😊👍😁 5y
ljuliel Thank you, yes your instructions make sense. I‘ll keep an eye peeled . I know health issues can definitely throw a wrench into life. The best you can do is to listen to the doc, follow instructions and take care of yourself. You can‘t ask any more of yourself than that. Fingers crossed 🤞🏼 you‘ll feel much better soon. @andrew65 5y
Andrew65 @ljuliel Good advice 😊 I‘ll make sure I tag you in when I post the schedule. 5y
