This timely story centers around Grace who is inspired to become the first female US President. It follows her on her journey to become class president. Along with diverse representation, the book centers around the process of the electoral college. This would be an excellent shared reading to accompany Social Studies election content.

Inspiring book to show girls that they can dream big and become the POTUS one day. I also appreciated that this book covers the electoral college and how it works. I do wish that this book showed both sides either shaking hands or congratulating each other at the end. We need to show kids that integrity still exists and should be at the forefront in politics today.

I really liked this one! And, frustratingly, it feels so true to life and white male privilege. Grace campaigns hard, volunteers, makes change happen before she is elected, and it is still almost a tie between her and the white boy who does very little campaigning because he thinks he will win because there are more boys in the class who he assumes will only vote for another boy. ⬇️⬇️

Grace for President a RF by Kelly DiPucchio is a fantastic picture book that highlights political areas such as an election. This story is about two students who campaign against each other until polling time comes around. I would use a RA strategy for this book as I‘d really like for the students to hear the pronunciations of new words properly. I would be sure to introduce the vocabulary prior to the RA which would support UDL 2.1 and EL 5.

This realistic fiction children‘s book is an amazing book that would work really well in the area of social studies. It‘s about a girl named Grace who wants to run for student president once she‘s hear there‘s never been a girl president. This would be great as a read aloud because of the great illustrations. I would make a lesson out of this book and focus on the key vocabulary words which are associated with how we vote.

This RF book has a great ending and tells young girls and boys that everyone is equal. I fell in love with the main character, Grace and how humble she was. Grace is appalled when she realizes that a woman has never been president, so she decides she's the one for the job. She is a terrific candidate, up against a kid who is resting on his security in his popularity. This books explains the ridiculous electoral college, and it is very matter of fact about it, not presenting it as a good or a bad thing, just as what is. But I'm still convinced it is archaic. A great picture book.
