I LOVE THIS BOOK. This F book tells the story of a mouse dentist who typically refuses to serve dangerous animals but takes pity on a fox with a severe toothache. It becomes apparent that the fox is trying to trick the dentist, so the dentist comes up with a plan. This book is so silly and I would love to tell it to my class! I think it would be most effectively in early elementary levels but could work for all grades. #ucflae3414sp18

This TL book is one that I have read many times over the course of my life. This book tells the story of a grandma witch who‘s magical pot makes so much pasta that it nearly ruins an entire town! This book is so much fun and would make a great S book. I can‘t wait to use this one in my classroom. This would be great for all elementary ages. #ucflae3414sp18

This P book is a classic. I have always loved reading Dr. Seuss books! I plan to use Dr. Seuss in my classroom as much as possible, as there as so many resources out there. This is a HF book I have been wanting to read for a long time and finally got around to it. This book tells the story of CJ who rides the bus with this grandma every Sunday after church but has questions as to why he doesn‘t have a car or nice things like many of the people he knows. This is a great book that shows the bond between children/grandparents and also educates as it tells the story. Great for upper elementary levels. #ucflae3414sp18

This F was another book introduced to me by Dr. Spalding. It tells the story of a kind witch who accidentally feeds a baby moonlight which in turn gives her magic. While I couldn‘t entirely get into it, I definitely think this book has its place in the classroom and should be shared with upper elementary students. #ucflae3414sp1

I loved this NF/B book. It tells the story of a slave who was incredibly skilled in pottery, telling his story over the course of this beautifully illustrated book. I loved the story this book told, but what really got me were the illustrations- they are breathtaking. This book would be appropriate in pretty much all elementary classrooms. #ucflae3414sp18

This F book is SO CUTE! This is the story of a little chicken who is constantly interrupting the story to warn the characters of impending danger. This book would work best in lower elementary grades and it is very simple but an absolutely adorable read. #ucflae3414sp18

This HF book was amazing! I am so happy I read it. It teaches a lot about the Civil Rights movement, by telling the story of a mother who doesn‘t want a relationship with her children. This is an extremely powerful story that would be appropriate for upper elementary levels. #ucflae3414sp18

This HF book tells the story of an 11 year old girl named Turtle who is sent to live in Key West with her relatives. It gives a lot of information about the Great Depression in a way where you don‘t even realize you are learning. Although this was not my favorite book, I‘m glad I read it and I think it would work very well in upper elementary grades. #ucflae3414sp18

This was a great read. This RF book tells a story of unexpected friendships from the perspective of a captive gorilla. I had never heard of this book until Dr. Spalding brought it to our attention and I am sure glad she did! This book would work well for upper elementary grades. #ucflae3414sp18

These were some of my favorite books when I was younger. This RF series tells the story of Greg Heffley and his many not-so-great adventures of being a “wimpy kid”. I know people who enjoy these books all the way up through high school, but I think they‘d be fine to start as early as third grade. #ucflae3414sp18

This F book is so cute. My mom used to read these books to me and my sister when we were kids and I always loved them! It works great for young readers. This story follows a boy and a mouse on their trip to the movies telling you all the different things the mouse will do as a result. I‘m in love with this NF/B book. Written by none other but Chelsea Clinton herself, this book tells the story of many different women who have made a change and taken a step in the right direction for women‘s rights. This book is not only for girls but for everyone as it tells an amazing story and teaches incredible lessons of equality. I cannot wait to read the sequel. I really enjoyed this SF book. It tells the story of a young girl and her brother who travel across different dimensions to find their father who has been missing for years. I feel like it may be a bit complex for many younger children, but could definitely be used at the upper elementary level. #ucflae3414sp18

I am in love with this RF book. Wonder tells the story of a boy named Auggie who was born with a facial deformity and is going to school for the very first time. It‘s a roller coaster of emotions but I am so glad I read this book, especially as a future educator! This would work great as an IR for upper elementary grades or as a GR for younger grades. #ucflae3414sp18

This book is excellent! This very simple F book is perfect for young readers and tells the story of a very dirty pigeon who refuses to take a bath. He eventually ends up loving the bath so much that he refuses to leave! This book would be great as a RA when teaching students about hygiene. #ucflae3414sp18

I adored this book! “How Full is Your Bucket” is realistic fiction (RF) and tells of bucket that sits over each and every one of our heads. When someone is mean or something goes wrong, your bucket becomes less full. But when people are kind and things are making you happy, your bucket begins to fill up! I think this is a approach to try to get younger students to understand that their actions can have profound effects on people. #ucflae3414sp18

“No, David!” is a Realistic Fiction (RF) book that I would highly recommend for young readers. The book tells of a young boy named David who is always getting into trouble, leading to his mother often shouting “No, David!” In 1999, this book was a Caldecott Honor Book. This book also has the distinction of being “Teachers Top 100 Books” from the NEA as well as named one of the “Top 100 Picture Books” of all time. #ucflae3414sp18
