I seriously struggle with Pic Collage. Maybe it‘s because I do it on my phone. The book cover are too big or too small. I can‘t get them just right and my background moves…arghhh. Anyway here‘s my pics so far.

This is not my usual genre, but this book was so good, brutal, but brilliant. My first Don Winslow, but not my last! The Cartel is on my list for April #bookspin!
@The_Book_Ninja You were so right! It‘s a wild ride!
March Madness has been stealing some of my reading time, but I‘m diving into this one on the recommendation of Paul‘s brother.
Another great Kindle deal today. This is the first book in one of the greatest trilogies EVER. I cannot sing Don Winslow's praises enough. An auto-buy author for me!
I am a mystery to myself. This book is SO NOT my thing. It is drugs and organized crime and guns and torture and the writing is nothing to celebrate, yet... I keep reading one more chapter and I am well into it now. This is a first ( and probably the last) for me but I‘m surprised to say that I‘m sorta enjoying it. 🤷♀️
Stupendously readable, if brutal, account of the Mexico-US drug trade from the Reagan years on. Winslow has been compared to James Ellroy and Don DeLillo in his ambition, but despite its complexity the reader never gets lost or baffled despite all the twists and turns, double-dealing and treachery. There's also a barely concealed fury at the human cost of the nonsensical "War on Drugs". Just great.
Ouch!
This was a re-read for me, in anticipation of the final book in the trilogy which is being released this month (The Cartel is book 2). Don Winslow is a master of crime thrillers. The research he put into these books is remarkable. I had the pleasure of seeing him on tour for one of his other books (“The Force”, also AMAZING) and I highly recommend going to see him if he comes to your area on his upcoming tour. LOVE this series. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Starting my re-read of this amazing story, to be followed by a re-read of “The Cartel”, in anticipation of the release of “The Border” next month. I cannot wait to see how this trilogy ends. If you haven‘t read Don Winslow, you are really missing out!!
My W book in #LitsyAtoZ crime was overwhelming in the sheer force and brutality of some of the storytelling but gosh it was good. Set over 20 yrs it tells the tale of drug wars in mexico, the us interference in central & S America, + drug smuggling. Art keller is a dea officer battling the barrera brs with lots of victims physically emotionally and ancillary brilliant characters from ny gangsters to prostitutes + priests. On to 'The cartel' asap.⏬

Gosh i am loving my first foray into Don Winslow's stunning crime fiction. Hallway in i have me so many characters who are definitely suitable for this description and this paragraph at the end of part two is following an incident when a character sacrifices a safe future after he is drawn back into a psychopathic existence.
I have a book hangover. I finished this today and the characters and resolution are filling up my head so much that I can‘t even contemplate starting another book.
Just finished “The Power of the Dog” and I LOVED it!! Absolutely 5 stars! Winslow was so creative and powerful with his writing and choice of words, I truly felt like I was reading actual history about the drug wars in the ‘80‘s and ‘90‘s! Picking up his sequel “The Cartel” tomorrow!! I would no doubt read this book again in the future! If you‘re interested in history, crime, corruption in politics, and drug wars, it‘s a must read!! 👏🏼😍
Reading Power Of The Dog with Mexican Border Wars on the television in the background for atmosphere.
Has anyone else been SOOO angry at a character in your book for something they did?! Because right now, Mr. Fabian has me so dang angry, that I am ready to put my book down for the night 😂🤬 I love a good book that can create such intense feelings while reading! Even though my boyfriend may or may not be thinking I‘m slightly crazy at the moment 😂🤷🏼♀️ #damnitfabian #thePOWERofthedog 🙄🤦🏼♀️
“He sticks the needle into Earnie‘s vein and pushes the plunger. The Mexican Mud takes only a second to hit. Earnie‘s body jerks and his legs kick back. They say that a jolt of heroin is like kissing God.”
Started this Morning and can't put it down..Been awhile since I have read a good Gangster Novel.
This is what happens when you order a book just to realize its part of a series. My three latest books, I found The Nightingale in one of those free library by my house but really looking forward to this series by Don Winslow
If you like cartel and mafia stuff this book is the biz. Wow. The story is so tight. The writing is beautifully crafted. Page turner. Read it in two days. Not a criticism for this one. Cheers and read!
After binge watching Narcos, I needed more. This book was so interesting and well written and was like Narcos in a book! I learned a lot and can‘t wait to start The Cartel next.
Whataya mean you're reading about the power of the DOG?? What the heck am I -- chopped liver?
When I said I wanted to grow up and get a job where I could read all day, I should have been more specific and said "books" instead of "patient education materials related to healthcare marketing and communications." Sigh.
My best book of the year!! Drug cartels, CIA, DEA, guns, government side deals, revenge, a whole lot of violence, and absolutely amazing writing. I couldn't ask for more in a book. Except I will when I pick up The Cartel.
Happiness is coming home after a long work week and finding a box of new books on your doorstep. 😍📚💕
I finished the Netflix series Narcos and wanted more! This book and its sequel did it for me! They were both full of action, history and character! Loved them both!
Today's #allhallowsread post of a book with a Day of the Dead holiday in it. Not a major part of the book...but it qualifies. Just finished and I loved it. @Orbeck33 is now reading it, so we have something to talk about again 😚
Are we supposed to assume the $100K Art gives Ramos to bring in the Doctor is from the account Adan created for him? Or is it gov't funds?
Drugs, violence, corruption-rinse, repeat. I read book 2 (The Cartel) before this. Both are equally amazing and powerful. Book 2 concentrated mainly on the cartels of Mexico, this book focused on NY, MX, Columbia, Honduras and China. I hope book 3 of this series is out soon. Don Winslow can write characters that you can empathize with. Yes, even drug lords.
I made the mistake of taking both kids in for their check ups this morning. You'll save so much time, I thought. Wrong! They'll behave, I thought. Wrong! I need a drink and a nap. ☕️🍷
Goodbye summer weekends. Sad to see you go, but at least I have these to look forward to!
Starting this one while the kids watch the Chipmunks movie. Take me away, Don Winslow/Ray Porter/Art Keller! 🏝

This book is amazing. I feel like I just finished binge watching an amazing show. There were so many great characters and plot lines and twists and turns.
