This is where the series really picks up, where we go from episodic to a more coherent narrative thread. Kate and Curran are heating up, supporting characters are developing more personality, and the stakes are getting higher. Really enjoying my series reread.

These books just make me laugh so. much.

Help me decide a #bookblanket thing, though! Should this book be just turquoise for fantasy, or turquoise/hot pink for fantasy/romance, now Kate and Curran's courtship is really getting off the ground? The previous books are just classified fantasy in the blanket. I do actually have a poll on Twitter: https://twitter.com/shanaqui/status/1148733448330387457 But comments with opinions works too.

shanaqui My feeling is that these books get pigeonholed as 'paranormal romance' when, yes, love is a serious and important element of the plot and characterisation, but it's not ABOUT the romance. Certainly I categorised the first two books as primarily fantasy, with no hesitation.

(The colour is chosen based on primary genre; if the genre mashup is particularly close, I use two colours. Two is the max.)

the-woman-who-read-everything I haven‘t read this one, but it sounds like it could go either way, so I say pick whichever option looks best in your blanket 😁🧶 7mo

“Fear is pain. It hurts. I sink into it and use it like a sharpening stone gliding against a sword. It makes me better, more aware. But I can‘t be scared for too long, or it will wear me out.”
“How do you make it stop?” “I kill.”

10/10.

I checked out a handful of these to keep me busy while I was home recovering from knee surgery. Finished the third one the Sunday before I had to go back and read all of the fourth one that same day. Loving the pack politics and I think the underground fights might make the third book my favorite so far.

This book was great. A gladiator's arena, Andrea and Raphael continue to be adorable in the background, and plenty of my favorite character, Saiman. Side plot I loved was riding into the boarding school dressed as pirates to give the adopted daughter more street cred.

andreadmw @TheLibrarian my first was Harry Dresden but Kate is awesome. I discovered her about 4 books into the series. I'm interested to see where it goes. Did you read the newest one yet? I was about to comment then thought I didn't want to spoil you! 3y

iread2much One of my favorite series right now. I've probably reread these books way more than is descent and I can't wait for all the novellas to come out for the most recent novel. 3y
TheLibrarian I just finished the latest book a few weeks ago @andreadmw Now I want to next one but will have to wait 😭 3y
TheLibrarian @iread2much This will definitely be a series I'll be rereading in my future. 3y
andreadmw @TheLibrarian yes I loved the last book too. Intrigued to see where it goes. I did start to find all the gods they discussed a little overwhelming so I want to see where they take it. The characters, the core of the series for me, are still 100% spot on. Love Kate and Curran! 3y

Finding a series that continues to deliver book after book like the Kate Daniels series is such a blessing and treasure. Magic Strikes again blew me away. It should be criminal to have such a unique, engaging, and appealing storyline and to have a narrator that brings every character to life.

MrBook Yay, a good read found 😊👏🏻. Welcome to @Litsy ! We hope you enjoy your stay, I think you'll like it here 😎👍🏻. 3y

Finally we get more emotional involvement in this book! In the first two it felt like a lot of set up. We get to see more of Kate's softer side and more details about her past. 👍 Loved it! ❤️
