2017 #158 sci fi audio this is so weirdly like the TV series The 100 but not really but that's I could think of. It was weird and I couldn't get my mind wrapped around the construct. Book 1. Will probably wiki the others because I'm not sure I really really want to continue the series.

2017 #146 business audio loved this course I took at work. Insightful

BookBabe I love these kinds of books! Can't ever get enough. 2y
Ksvz I really enjoyed it, especially as the six-week workshop I took broke down the stories by theme and the real life applications/reflections. Eye opening and paired with failing forward was a serious double whammy. 2y

2017 #144 NF audio this book was well written and did what I think it was suppose to : make you uncomfortable and question how you see the world. Being a mom to three daughters this book really wiggled into my discomfort zone. Not sure I liked it but it made far too much sense and that I disliked more.

2017 #143 novella audio this was weird. I think the emotional connection was lost because of book hangover from The Force. It was well written with an interesting perspective. Felt YA and would be great for discussion with Writing My Wrongs.

Jess7 I purchased this one from my library's book sale and it was in the #YA section, but it sounded interesting. 2y
Ksvz I never read the blurbs. I always go with the cover art or title or gut feeling. So I'm grinning that it was YA - sometimes it is hard to tell. It was very interesting. If you enjoy it, I recommend the memoir Writing My Wrongs for an alternative view. 2y

2017 #142 historical fiction audio I have no clue what this was about (besides a spire), why it was important (besides being written by a person who won a nobel prize), or why I stuck with it (besides being read by Cumberbatch). I loved listening and really didn't care that I didn't know what was going on.

2017 #141 drama audio OMG I cannot even begin to explain the intensity of this book. Brilliantly read, fantastically written with such a feel of truth and reality. Seriously one of the best books I've read in ages. I loved Cartel but this was a bazillion times better.

2017 #139 thriller audio I loved the writing but *spoiler alert* the story is not a happy one. By the end all I wanted was something positive or nice or not as horribly horrible. No luck. Superbly read and gut wretchingly awful. Can see why it is a must listen but I have to have something happy to cleanse my audio palate because holy crow that was beyond stressful.... and that was only book one!

2017 #138 historical fiction audio I found this book a slow start and I almost gave up. But like Zelda's life it starts slow and gradually turns into an amazing ride. Heartbreaking, frustrating, enlightening, and intriguing. Fictionalized but not too far out of what I've read on the subject. A woman's strength is unparalleled.

2017 #136 audio novel it was as good and as emotional as the first one. The story continues. While I didn't enough it as much as the first one (mostly because i knew what to expect) the story still made me teary. Never looking at my dog the same way ever.

2017 #135 fantasy audio I really enjoyed the characters and the world building. It was strangely annoying because it was so well written. The tension and frustration at the character's choices left me pausing, saying nsfw words, and being tempted to skip parts. Dealing with teenagers in real life is hard enough. Put them in book form and you at least get to walk away with them following.

2017 #133 NF audio absolutely fantastic. I haven't fact checked it in it's entirety but the small part I have checks out. Wonderfully read, well paced and extremely interesting. So much freaking fun when you chose a book based on the cover and don't read the blurb and it turns out great. Happy me!

2017 #132 fictionalized memoir audio I didn't read the blurb and was surprised to learn that this is a fictionalized true story of the main character. I have really enjoyed Eggers other works and have found the creativity behind them amazing. This didn't feel that way and maybe it was because he is giving an oral history written words. I almost gave up but the very, very last chapters made it tolerable. Not a favorite but intriguing.

2017 #131 supernatural fluff audio I am not sure what to think because the characters, the plot, and the sexual overture all feel like other books I have read. It doesn't pull it off and while I enjoyed the story line, I didn't enjoy the story. There are other series I will be dedicating my time to finishing. LOL went to put this in my Goodreads and it turns out I didn't like it 2011 either.

2017 #130 novel audio very different from the others I have read by him. This one has vulgarity, not misplaced but not loved, and without the convergence of timelines and the intertwining of storylines that I have always loved. This is a story that is so heartbreakingly human that it crawled into my brain, clawed it's way into my heart and rubbed raw emotional scars. It was not my favorite but I loved the writing, the characters, the pain. +

2017 #129 reread / YA audio I first read this in analog and then lived in an area surrounded by three reservations. Our basketball games use to have enough police presence to resemble a G20 conference. I enjoyed it more with a deeper life experience and listening to the author. Still a favorite. Definitely a worth while read.

The photo is of my kid's en suite for her hospital stay. Yes that is a towel swan. Her 36" plasma TV with cable was sweet too. Infact I liked the room and bathroom configuration enough that if I ever build a house I may model the guest room by it :)

2017 #126 short story audio that was the weirdest trip on a bad tab of acid into extensional humanitarian introspection that I have ever experienced. All the while constantly feeling like this had to be translated poorly from a culture with a much deeper love of philosophy than here in the US. Ksvz @mrozzz I'm not sure I would say it was a pleasant read. Let me know what you think. I'm currently at the hospital with my child for testing and looking around the book is screaming in my head. 2y

2017 #124 crime boss porn audio I sorted the audiobooks at the library by suspense and the title caught my eye. It was grouped with Vince Flynn and Brad Thor. Never read the blurb and what a surprise when the intro (oh ya it is a spin off of another series I had never heard of) talked all porny. It is like Black Dagger Brotherhood without the vampires. So OTT and cheesy but the good kind. Made work go by all blushy and quick.

2017 #123 Scottish flavored porn audio one this is probably the cheesiest 'historical' romance I've read since middle school when my friends and I would pass around a copy of something similar and dog ear the naughty bits. Although we never read about giant penises and gspots. Was in the mood for fluff and this just didn't satisfy. Oh, and it's read by an American trying very hard to be something akin to Scottish.
