Mistletoe Murder
Mistletoe Murder | Leslie Meier
MAIL-ORDER MURDERAs if baking holiday cookies, knitting a sweater for her husband's gift, and making her daughter's angel costume for the church pageant weren't enough things for Lucy Stone's busy Christmas schedule, she's also working nights at the famous mail-order company Country Cousins. But when she discovers Sam Miller, its very wealthy founder, dead in his car from an apparent suicide, the sleuth in her knows something just doesn't smell right. Taking time out from her hectic holiday life to find out what really happened, her investigation leads to a backlog of secrets as long as Santa's Christmas Eve route. Lucy is convinced that someone murdered Sam Miller. But who and why? With each harrowing twist she uncovers in this bizarre case, another shocking revelation is exposed. Now, as Christmas draws near and Lucy gets dangerously closer to the truth, she's about to receive a present from Santa she didn't ask for--a killer who won't be satisfied until everyone on his shopping list is dead, including Lucy herself. . ."Lucy Stone is an endearing sleuth." --Dorothy Cannell

A lighthearted holiday cozy mystery, with lovable, realistic characters. Kept me guessing until the end.

4th book read in December (GR closed but I‘m still reading this year and for me, those books counts). I don‘t know if I‘m going to continue this series. Does anyone read it? What do you think? Published in 1991, interesting mystery but you will find stereotyped women roles, work place sexual harassment, animal cruelty in one scene. Big concern is how she was treated as as a woman. I don‘t know if that issue is resolved in the other books. 2.5⭐️

Andrew65 Well done. 🎄🎄🎄This isn‘t a series I know. 1y
Monica5 I read the series, but it's one of those that I need to catch up on 1y

Read4life I actually just bailed on a book in this series. Similar issues to what you stated plus the negative comments about overweight characters. It was the 3rd or 4th book in the series that bothered me. There are too many good mysteries and series out there for me to keep reading a series that annoys me. 1y
Gissy @Read4life Thank you! You convinced me. It seems that the author continues with pejorative comments. 😠 1y
Read4life It takes a lot for me to bail on books. I thought maybe I was being overly sensitive. After seeing others questioning the same things I knew it was time for me to move on. I hope you find some good reads 🤓 1y

I read this one 20 years ago and reread today to prepare for an upcoming cozy mystery book discussion. A fast read, and yet, I definitely did not enjoy this one as much as I did 20 years ago. In some ways, some of the storyline has not stood the rest of time (originally published 1991). There were some holes in the plot line that never quite fleshed out, and maybe because I know what happens later in the series ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Librarybelle …I felt that some actions by some of the characters are foreshadowing of things to come, and not in a good way. Or, I could be just completely jaded! 🤷🏻‍♀️ Anyway, my discussion of this book this week will be interesting. 😂 TW: Animal violence 2y
BarbaraBB Jess, I received your Christmas card and bookmark. I love both, thank you so much! 😘 2y

This was my last read of 2018. Book 1 of the Lucy Stone Mystery series was written 20 years ago. It is still a lot of fun to read. I really liked the look into her job at a call center for a mail order company. Although this book takes place around Christmas, it didn't seem really Christmasy to me. I felt this was a solid cozy mystery and a good start to the series.

Cozy mysteries are my go to when I #needtochasestressaway . They‘re silly at times, but the perfect escape from reality. This is the first in the Lucy Stone mystery series, and it seems appropriate too for #silverbells , as it‘s Christmas time in the city. #survivingdecember #decdays

Cinfhen Perfect 👌🏽 well done ✅😂 6y
Mollyanna I totally agree! Cozys may sometimes be a little unrealistic and predictable, but they make me feel good, and well... cozy. 6y

Librarybelle @ferskner I‘ve read that one! I haven‘t picked up this series for awhile now, so I‘m behind on the last three or four books. 6y

Read as part of #Book1CoziesClub

This was a re-read for me and I have to say that I enjoyed this more than I did the first time around. I didn't remember a lot of what happened, so it was almost like a new read for me. I really enjoyed the relationship between Lucy and her husband. I also found the chapter headers interesting as they tied in to Lucy's day job.

This ebook included samples to a couple of the other books in this series.

queerbookreader What's this cozy club? I love this genre 7y
