Good morning, everyone!
I‘m going to take today & tomorrow (Thursday and Friday) off from posting. Today through Sunday are going to be very busy for me due to packing and trying to get some last minute visits in before I leave for DC. (I‘m heading there for an internship that‘ll last through May.) I hope to get back to posting Mon-Fri next week!

wanderinglynn Awesome! Let me know if you need any recommendations for things to do/see/eat in DC. I lived there for several years & my BFF still lives there. 2y

Sorry I‘ve been so MIA lately. Things have been crazy on my end. But I‘ve started reading #julieberry‘s #lovelywar, and that beginning took me by surprise. I‘m really looking forward to the rest of the book. (See an IG reel of the book here: https://www.instagram.com/shannasbookshelf/reel/CX-bJduDJ6l/?utm_medium=copy_lin....

As a result of my #libbyapp loan of the #audiobook of #janetskesliencharles‘s #theparislibrary ending in a day or two, I‘ve picked up the audiobook of #hilarymantel‘s #bringupthebodies, the sequel to #wolfhall. I‘m enjoying it so far, although I‘ve picked up the speed to 1.25x.

My #libbyapp loan of the #audiobook of #janetskesliencharles‘s #theparislibrary is sadly ending in a day or two, and I‘m unable to renew it this time around for whatever reason. I placed another hold on it of about 6 weeks, so I‘m not sure if I‘ll be able to finish this book in November, but we‘ll see!

I‘m only a couple of chapters into #elizabethlim‘s #sixcrimsoncranes, but I‘m enjoying it so far. I‘ve been raised on stories similar to the book‘s premise, so I can see where some things are going, but that doesn‘t bother me too much.

Hi, everyone!
I have been seriously trying to post regularly here. However, it‘s fairly easy to forget about this app for me (with #bookstagram on my mind constantly due to notifications). And I don‘t find it to be an issue, but I really want to post regularly here, starting tomorrow (Monday, Oct. 11). Let me know what you‘d like me to post here!

2. I‘m not sure if I mentioned this, but I‘ll no longer be posting reviews here. Those will strictly be on my bookstagram, so give that account a follow for reviews.

Hi, everyone! I wanted to make a few quick comments.
1. I‘m still getting used to & trying to remember posting here.
2. I‘ve decided I‘m no longer going to post reviews here. Reviews will be on my Goodreads and my bookstagram. I will, however, keep rating books here based on my opinion of them and Litsy‘s features.
3. I started school on August 30, so posts here may really be few and far between. But please bear with me through all this!

Between Shades of Gray | Ruta Sepetys

4.25 stars
Review: This was an amazing read. It was moving and powerful. The focus of the story, how life was affected by the Siberian work camps in 1941, is also such a unique placement and setting for WWII historical fiction. I definitely think that Sepetys has a way of writing WWII historical fiction that, while fitting in well with the genre, also stands out on its own apart from the rest of the genre. I definitely recommend this book.

CaitlinR Started reading it last night, but decided it is a “light of day” read — fewer nightmares. 3y
shannasbookshelf @CaitlinR I definitely agree. It‘s not something I could read at night. 3y

People We Keep | Allison Larkin

Rating: 3.75 stars
Review: This was, in my opinion, a good book. I enjoyed the story. It also has a great message, especially for the teenage/young adult age brackets. Although the story was good (and I did enjoy it), I don't think that this book was ultimately for me. While I liked most of the characters and the setting, something about the book made me think, “I read it. I liked it. It's one-and-done.“
