Bought this book for the cover, was hooked by the first paragraph:
“‘Oh my, this is embarrassing,‘ Miss Juliana Telford said aloud. There was no reason to keep her thoughts to herself, as she was alone, completely alone. In fact, that was half of the problem. The other half was, of course, that she was hanging off the side of a cliff with the inability to climb either up or down and in dire need of rescue.”
😂🤓😅

My newest book-adjacent purchase 🤓 My anxiety makes it so I can't sleep without some form of light in the room, but I've been working with a counselor and have gotten it down to just a dim nightlight. I made this purchase as a reward to myself and I LOVE it! It's quite small, but so pretty! Special cameo by Cameo 😸

Holy literary fiction in space batman! I LOVED this book you guys. I mean LOVED. It's space exploration mixed with introspection mixed with family relationships and all written beautifully. I understand why some people call it more of a character study, but I think that's why I loved it so much. Gonna be thinking about this one for a loooooong time. Great reading start to 2018 ❤️🍾👩🏽‍🚀🌌

I LOVED this book. This was a re-read for my book club and it seems everyone else loved it too. We'll have plenty to discuss. Again, there is a selkie theme running throughout (I can't pass up a selkie story 😊), and family, identity, history are central. The descriptive language was beautiful, and I connected to characters even when they made baffling decisions. Love, love, loved it!! ❤️❤️❤️

I loved this book, though it was not exactly what I expected. It doesn't have much of a plot but instead seems like more of a character study of two people and the marriage that they make together. The characters were real and flawed and that's what made this book so compelling.

I will say this was a very quick and easy read. BUT. The portrayal of mental illness was almost offensive. The MC obviously has some issues but is expected to resolve them mainly through an English class discussing Sylvia Plath. There was really no character development and it just fell flat for me. 😕

This whole series is just delightful. A pseudo-Victorian society where dragons are just like any other animal, and this kick-ass feminist scientist travels around the world to study them. Super fun, and apparently super comfy too 🙄

Re-listened to this for the first time in almost a decade and I forgot how completely awesome this book is. Atwood is one of my favorite authors, and it's amazing how prescient she was even in the 80s - religious fundamentalism, control over women's bodies, etc. Plus it's just a great story. Love! ❤️❤️❤️

Cam helped me finish this book late last night. It was a beautiful story, switching back and forth from a Belle Époque courtesan to her granddaughter at the beginning of wwii. Lovely writing and a sweet story, based on a piece of news that an apartment was left untouched for 70 years, full of Belle Époque art and discovered in the last 10 years ❤️

Cameo wanted to be included in #24in48 too! This was my second read and I really enjoyed it! It switches between Fran trying to survive after her plane crashes on a desert island, and the terrible thing she did to get herself on the plane in the first place. It takes a little suspension of disbelief - 16 year old who's never camped on a desert island - but I loved the writing and overall a great pick 🤓

Finished this excellent book with my sleepy puppy tonight 😍 Honestly Margaret Atwood can do no wrong in my book (heh), and this novel is no exception. Wow. This book was excellent! Leah Remini talks about her life in Scientology from childhood, and I was shocked at how much she went through and how strong she is. She doesn't flinch away from the things that she did wrong, and I like that she tries not to judge those people who the church really helps, while at the same time getting at the heart of the problems that exist within it. A great listen, I'm glad she reads it herself!

I think I liked this one - I'm not 100% sure since the characters aren't really likeable? The main character parties ALL THE TIME (5 drinks is her happy hour norm, before she even goes out for a night of partying) and I just can't relate to that I guess.
