So that happened... or it didn't? I'm not really sure what this was... lots of masturbation, a sort of freak show, a family in France? Yeah... I know that I got to the end of the book and that's just about all I figured out. It was well worded, even if I'm not really sure what I was reading? Umm....

so-so

I found this to be a bit of a disappointment. It is strange & experimental, unconventional & sexual. There are some uncomfortably human moments and no shortage of pretty prose. But I wonder if some of it wasn‘t merely intended to shock and confuse the reader. I like that Bynum didn‘t talk down to me and didn‘t feel the need to ground herself in reality, but by the end, this totally fizzled out for me (er, wilted, hence the flowers in my photo).

I‘m on the fence about whether or not to bail on this one. Has anyone read it?

It‘s bizarre and experimental and I love that—when the experiment is successful. I can‘t tell if this is good-strange or just meh.

...What? What just happened? Usually I love when things are weird, but this one was SO WEIRD I don't even know what I just read. Hands that are fused into paddles and 'the flatulent man' - I'm not kidding, that's one of the character's 'names' in the book. I'm not upset I read it, I'm just 😳😦
