This was 100% a cover read because I kept seeing it eeeverywhere in bookshops and then my library had the ebook. It's a dystopian-ish YA romance with a 'The Bachelor'-for-the-crown-prince premise, and the usual love triangle. It is... ok. If you're looking for something Light & Fluffy and are prepared to totally suspend disbelief (particularly re world-building). It was my #LetterC for #LitsyAtoZ

I quite enjoyed this book - the first in a trilogy. It has most of the usual YA fantasy/romance tropes, including a love triangle, ordinary girl turns out to be super special, plain girl gets a makeover... but the world building is great and the plot is fairly compelling. This was my #LetterB book for the #LitsyAtoZ challenge. (And yup, I'm recycling my bookstagram photos, I hope that's acceptable!)

Ok friends. I have been extremely lax in keeping my litsy up-to-date, I'm so sorry to have neglected you! I'm going to try to post daily until I'm at least current with my #litsyAtoZ challenge progress.
So, for #letterA, I read All the Light We Cannot See. Given that it won the Pulitzer, you will be unsurprised to know that it is beautiful. I am not usually a literary fiction kind of gal, but I LOVED this book.

BookFreakOut At first I thought either the mug was huge or the book was tiny and then I realized "oh it's a phone!" ? 7y
a.reader @BookFreakOut hahaha, yup! I read heaps on my phone, but it's so hard to take nice pictures of it 😂 7y

I love this book. I don't read a lot of short story collections, but clearly I should, because 😍
These stories are beautiful, intricate and a little bit fantastical. They each stand alone, but characters turn up in multiple stories, which is a thing I enjoy. I definitely recommend it.
I read this for the @bookriot #readharderchallenge and #LitsyAtoZ #LetterO

I loved the other two books in this series, so no realsurprise that I loved this one too. Complex but understandable characters and world-building. Great plot. It suffers a tiny bit from that thing where you're following so many different character stories that you forget for a second where you left that character last time, but it's manageable (ie nowhere near Robert Jordan levels).
I definitely recommend this series to anyone who loves fantasy.

Bailedbailed

I'm not sure if it's just the mood I've been in lately, but I could not get into this book. I struggled to almost halfway through, but in the end I bailed - too many other books that I really want to read!!
Maybe I'll give it another go some time in the future. I didn't hate it, just wasn't drawn in at all.

I'm doing a #loveozya challenge on Instagram so I've been reading quite a lot of Australian YA this month. This book was wonderful. Sweet but not sticky. Well developed characters and sense of place. Also, it's just as much a love story of a secondhand bookshop as the love story of two young adults. Which is 👌
Definitely give it a read!

I loved this book. I read it for the 'book about war' category of the @bookriot #readharder challenge for 2017.
Be warned it's fairly explicit on some perhaps stomach-churning topics, but the writing style is funny and engaging and the topics are super interesting. I particularly loved learning a little about the people involved, as well as the science.

Lea I'm reading it for that category too - well listening to the audio. 7y

I loved this book. It took a bit to get into, I think perhaps I found some of the initial world building a little clunky. But I am so glad I persisted because it was all up from there! Brilliant characters, super twisty plot, and I can't wait to read the next one! #loveozya

Finished my @24in48 audiobook smack on the 22.5hr mark.
This is such a great book. A story of family, small town life, racism and growing up. Not that I'm a teenage boy, but it seemed a well written perspective. Totally recommend.
Particularly great audiobook recording, I think. #24in48 #readharder

Second book finished for @24in48
An incredibly rich story, good fantasy world building, intricate plots and complex characters. I actually love it when I don't know if I agree or disagree with a characters reasoning/motives/actions. Suuuuuch and intense ending too. Glad I already have the second book in the series so I can start it soon! #24in48 #LitsyAtoZ #LetterJ

missevievelyn Yay!! Loooved this book, maybe my favourite Jemisin novel! 💕 7y

Nearly halfway through my second novel. Pretty sure this is gonna be too complicated for my tired brain in about an hour, but really enjoying the world building and interesting characters at the moment. #24in48 #LitsyAtoZ #letterJ

Finished my first @24in48 book sitting in the park. I first read this in about grade 12 when it fuelled my mild obsession with India and my desire to travel there. Now I'm not so sure I could handle it, to be honest. Good book though. #24in48 #readharder

GlassAsDiamonds Do travel here! It's a rough, rough place to live but a delightful place to travel! (But be safe & sensible). 7y

This has been on my #tbr for a while. Such a great fantasy trilogy - complex without being entirely confusing. It's my #LetterQ pick for the #LitsyAtoZ challenge.
Also, my husband was a tiny bit bewildered about why I needed to borrow his phone this morning, given that I was literally holding mine.

Oh, I loved this. Charming, quirky, all those good things. I so appreciate an author who can brush on a serious topic (or 3), treat it seriously, but not leave me incredibly depressed. This book is light but not lite, if that makes any sense at all. #LitsyAtoZ #letterZ

I loved this book. An intricate blending of historical and fictional characters, partially set in the town I grew up in.
It makes me want to learn more about the historical people and events, and re-read Jane Eyre. Any books that prompts me to read more is a good book, in my opinion!
ED: this is my #LetterW book for the #LitsyAtoZ challenge!

Picked this up yesterday from Better Read Than Dead (side note: one of my favourite local bookshops. So spoiled in Newtown (Sydney) #getindie). Stayed up way too late because it is unsurprisingly awesome. Work is getting in the way of me finishing it. Bring on 5pm.
