Chaseb I think using this book as an IR is a great idea, especially to utilize that UDL strategy of choice! I‘m sure many kids that like dogs or cats would be drawn to read this book, just as I am now drawn to read this book! Some students may be able to relate to the story too, if they have dogs or cats! 3y
Sdemps The illustrations on this book just draws you in. I can see why this is a Caldecott Honors Winner. The website resource is in to me, but it provided great lesson plans and activities. 3y
DrSpalding I added this to my stack! Independent reading as a part of your classroom library is a wise choice. As noted, you can also teach specific vocabulary with any quality picture book. Beautiful images! 3y

Betrinag I love twists on the classics! And I agree that a book like this would do great as a readers theater- students will be aware enough of the story to feel comfortable doing it, and the twist to the story adds an extra layer of fun! 3y
DrSpalding Traditional literature not only works well with storytelling but also as you noted, readers theater! Comparing fractured fairytales with the original version also works well using quality graphic organizers. 3y

Betrinag This seems like such a fun, and easily relatable book to have in the classroom! I love that the author provided coloring activities to go along with the book- this allows for students to do something they know they enjoy, and adds a creative spin to an assignment. 3y
