I‘ve read quite a few books about Tupac. But I must say, this is the most in-depth account of his life that I‘ve ever read! I‘m only 40% complete and I‘m loving every page! It is the FIRST estate authorized biography ever written about Pac. I think I‘m going to purchase a print copy for my library when it‘s released on Oct. 24th!

I listened to the entire 6 hours and 39 mins in my car as I was driving. It was a good story. A little predictable. Once I realized the ex-husband (Todd) truly understood his mistake of leaving his wife (Nina) for a younger, money hungry woman, I was rooting for them to get back together.

Janina Edwards did a phenomenal job with the narration.

I enjoyed the journey!

I listened to the audiobook. Intriguing concept. Loved the beginning of the book, the middle was a little slow, and the end fell short.

But, what made this story for me, was the narration. Marin Ireland is absolutely amazing! Listening to her transform with each character was like listening to a stage play. She kept my interest.

Overall it was heartwarming story that I found uniquely satisfying and unforgettable.

Mehso-so

The concept of this book is intriguing. Three girls, all friends, all named Elissa (the spelling of each name is different -Elissa, Alyssa, Alissa- but the pronunciation is the same). Each dead by age 26, from the same underlying cause. It sounds very interesting in theory. Right? Unfortunately, it failed in delivery. Didn‘t flow. Took too long getting to discussing how the girls died, which was the most intriguing part of the story.

I enjoyed first half of the book the most. It is here I learned how much she loved dancing as a child. The story of how she followed her passion for dancing is so inspiring. Her drive and motivation at such a young age was amazing.

BookReviewsbyTara This is an excellent book for...
- YA readers
- Anyone looking for inspiration
- Dancers
- Laurieann supporters

Overall I really like Laurieann‘s message! I agree with her belief that no position in life is too small. We all have a part to play and every person should be valued & appreciated for what they do. Praise s͟h͟o͟u͟l͟d͟ ͟n͟o͟t be reserved for the most recognized, those in high positions, or individuals in front of the camera.

In the past I‘ve struggled with Zora‘s writing style. I‘ve never fully enjoy her work because of her use of character accents & regional dialects. But, listening to the book made all the difference in the world! With Ruby reading I was able to totally appreciate Zora‘s brilliance.

This book is seventy-one short, straight-to-the-point, pages filled with natural skincare recipes. For example, Niambi Dennis explains how to use honey as a cleanser, diluted apple cider vinegar, or even a little diluted vodka as a toner, and coconut oil as a moisturizer. I read this book in less than an hour. It was an hour well spent. I got a good beginner crash course in natural skincare remedies for Black skin.

I‘m kind of in between “Pick” and “So-So” with this one. The main reason I say it‘s a “pick” is because I took over a month to complete the audiobook so I don‘t feel I connected with it as much as I would have if I would have listened to it daily..But it is an interesting read about sales! Good plot. I liked the 1st half much more than the 2nd half!

𝐌𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐝 : 𝐀 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐈𝐧 𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞 reads like a story ripped straight from the headlines of the R. Kelly tragedy. Much of what I read in this book took me back to the documentary 𝘚𝘶𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘙. 𝘒𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘺. (Continued in comments)

BookReviewsbyTara 𝑺𝒚𝒏𝒐𝒑𝒔𝒊𝒔:
Muted is the story of best friends Denver, Dali and Shak. Together they form a singing group with dreams of becoming superstars. When Denver and Dali‘s favorite R & B singer Sean “Mercury” Ellis comes to town for a concert, the trio stops at nothing to get Mercury to hear them sing. After accomplishing their mission, the girls begin a journey none of them could have ever imagined.
3y
BookReviewsbyTara 𝑴𝒚 𝑻𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒔:
Simply put, this book is brilliantly written and very well executed👏🏽! Tami Charles did her thing as she successfully composed this entire narrative in prose. The story flows with ease. I was invested starting with the “Dear Reader” letter the authors delivers on the very first page. The letter is a powerful call to action encouraging the reader to Mute all “monsters” that prey on young, innocent women and girls.
3y
BookReviewsbyTara The interwoven themes of - rape, feelings of isolation within one‘s family, friendship, chasing dreams, trusting your instincts, courage, mental abuse, sexual abuse, strength and power - are prominent throughout the entire book. Therefore, there is never a dull moment.

🥳 BOOK COVER REVEAL🥳
Hey you guys👋🏽. I am so happy to be a part of this cover reveal for the book MUTED by Tami Charles scheduled to be released February 2, 2021.

This is a book I cannot wait to read. Check out the synopsis of the book below⬇️.

BookReviewsbyTara For seventeen-year-old Denver, music is everything. Writing, performing, and her ultimate goal: escaping her very small, very white hometown. 4y
BookReviewsbyTara So Denver is more than ready on the day she and her best friends Dali and Shak sing their way into the orbit of the biggest R&B star in the world, Sean “Mercury” Ellis. Merc gives them everything: parties, perks, wild nights—plus hours and hours in the recording studio. Even the painful sacrifices and the lies the girls have to tell are all worth it. 4y
BookReviewsbyTara Until they‘re not.

Denver begins to realize that she‘s trapped in Merc‘s world, struggling to hold onto her own voice. As the dream turns into a nightmare, she must make a choice: lose her big break, or get broken.
4y
BookReviewsbyTara Inspired by true events, Muted is a fearless exploration of the dark side of the music industry, the business of exploitation, how a girl‘s dreams can be used against her — and what it takes to fight back. 4y
MsMelissa This is a nice cover! The book sounds great, too. 4y

Never As Good is the story of Jake and his girlfriend Kyra whose relationship ends as quickly as it begins when Kyra catches Jake with another woman. Heartbroken from her boyfriend‘s betrayal, Kyra turns to her best friend Pam for emotional support. But little does Kyra know, in that one night, a series of events will be ignited that will change both her and Jake‘s lives forever.

BookReviewsbyTara What I enjoyed most about this book is that it is filled with twists and turns that I never saw coming. Suspenseful. I looked forward to digging into each chapter to find out what was going to happen next. 4y
BookReviewsbyTara The first half of the book moved a little slow for me. But by the middle of the story, the tempo picked up and reached a good pace.
4y
BookReviewsbyTara I am a sucker for a novel heavy in dialogue. And this book contains lots of dialogue. However, the conversations didn‘t always flow as smoothly as I would have liked. Jonathan‘s placement of dialogue tags are a little different from what I am used to reading in a novel. Because of this difference, I was sometimes unsure of which character was actually speaking. 4y
BookReviewsbyTara But overall, Never As Good As The First Time was a good companion for me. It kept my mind occupied. I was totally invested in the drama. I was rooting for Kyra to win! 4y

Cracked is the gripping novel by Brianna S. Clark. Set in 1997 at a rehabilitation center, Lilly “LuLu” St. Blanc, a divorced attorney and single mother, finds herself swept off of her feet and lured into the destructive world of addiction after meeting Stephen Flaherty. What I loved about this book is that the story moved along at a steady pace. It was an entertaining book that kept my interest.
