The Carousel | Belva Plain

The only book I bought in Italy (my self control was amazing). We went to the MAXXI museum where they had a carousel art installation, and I fell in love. The gift shop had this pop-up book with a music box that played the same music as the carousel, so I had to get it! Of course, the whole thing is in Italian so I haven‘t read it yet, but soon!!

When your mom is a crazy book lady, you have different teenager problems than everyone else.

Kid: Mom, can I invite friends over for Halloween?
Me: Sure.
Kid: Is there any way you could move the books off the couch in the basement so we can watch movies down there?
😂😂😂

As if just hosting isn‘t enough, now I have to relocate books and I have no idea where!

Bklover 1. Find a corner of the room where they can be stacked. 2. Pretend to forget to move them. 3. When friends arrive have them stack them in previously selected corner of room. Will take them three minutes. 😊😏 (edited) 3mo
BookNAround @Bklover I can totally get behind that kind of evil genius! 3mo
Tanisha_A @Bklover Brilliant idea! 😁 3mo

Whilst doing paperwork at the library I saw this book hidden behind a mountain climbing book and snatched it up so quick!
My library never has anything about periods it's crazy and it drives me so mad!

Pickpick

I grew up near the Mexican border in Texas, and this is a traditional ghost story told around campfires and at sleepovers. It is pretty disturbing, but it is meant to be so. I hadn‘t ever read a written version of it, and while there are always variations to legends that are usually told orally, this one is pretty much the one I remember. The art is appropriate to the story, morphing from quite normal to creepy and evocative.

Texreader So cool! Where‘d you grow up if you don‘t mind my asking? 7mo
Krisjericho @Texreader Del Rio! I lived there from 7th through 9th grades. 7mo

A fabulous debut novel with an overwhelming story inspired by the author's grandmother's 16-year experience in a work camp in Siberia

Mehso-so

Short novel about a philosophy student and her mal acquaintances. The writing was good, the story had me lost.
