I took this yesterday after a rain during supper time. Not very often to see a full circle rainbow. From my window. #BeautyBreak

Iowa farm life growing up during the depression. Far from feeling deprived, Mildred looks back with affection on her rich & vibrant experiences as a child. This isn‘t one of those woe-is-me memoirs. As to be expected, she felt some things in society had changed for the better, others not.

CSeydel I should get this. My husband‘s grandmother, also named Mildred, grew up on a farm in Iowa during the depression and always spoke fondly of her childhood. 3w
Tamra @CSeydel Mildred must have been a popular name because it was my grandmother‘s name as well. 😄 3w
Leftcoastzen My mom really loved this book . She was a farm kid growing up in the Midwest in the depression as well. 3w
Tamra @Leftcoastzen it‘s a vanishing way of life - the family farm. 😒 3w
Leftcoastzen Sad but true. Still have one cousin whose son farms in Iowa ! But worried about his year with all this turmoil. 3w

A few hours ago the sky opened and it rained buckets. A little later the sun came out and I took an unscheduled nap. Just now I took an abbreviated walk around the neighborhood because the rain left behind some humidity.

Seen on my walk: an
Upside down flag and mushrooms
Sprouting from the rain

My bookspin for March, a Canadian #Canlit children's classic from the 1980s. Hope to start later today!

ShelleyBooksie I adored this series as a child. Was my #1 scholastic bookfair choice. ♡ 8mo
TheLudicReader Never heard of it! 😂 8mo
merelybookish @ShelleyBooksie You're the second person whose told me that! 8mo
merelybookish @TheLudicReader Maybe "classic" is a bit strong! But some people do remember it with fondness! 8mo

This book could make an excellent lesson on the importance of resilience and the ability to thrive where you are. This book would be an amazing classroom addition to a library.

The illustrations in this book were really good and I enjoyed the writing style of the author. It was also very interesting and would make a good addition to a classroom library.

November #BookSpin is a middle grade historical fiction I've been wanting to read. #Doublespin is my #AuthorAMonth selection!

Thanks for hosting yet again @TheAromaofBooks

TheAromaofBooks Yay!! Enjoy!! I've had Garden Spells on my TBR for quite sometime. And I'm a sucker for a horse story, so I'm curious to see if you enjoy Bea and the New Deal Horse!! 12mo
Aims42 I loved “Garden Spells”! I feel like it‘s a good one for this time of year 😁 Enjoy!!! 12mo
