#StoryBookSunday : so this was one of my favorites as a child. I used to write all sorts of “clues” about strangers and do the thing where you make up stories about what people might be up to. I think it‘s helped me become more inquisitive and observant as an adult

VioletBramble I did that too - “playing town“. This was the first book that I read that I LOVED. Still in my top 10 favorites list nearly 50 years later.

Unpopular opinion on one of the must reads for children. My school didn‘t have many books we HAD to read. Shakespeare has always been a big must in schools though. And I just don‘t get it! Firstly plays are terrible things to read, and second Romeo and Juliet is just such a bad love story! Don‘t get me wrong, Shakespeare is iconic. I would just rather watch them than read them.

Megabooks I took some summer enrichment in Shakespeare in high school, but we had a passionate teacher who understood the text, was good at explaining it, and we acted them out. Without that level of teaching, I agree that it‘s pretty damn pointless in the average high school situation. 4y

Sace Even with a local Shakespeare theater I think it's pointless to teach him because our district makes it so hard to take a field trip none of the teachers take advantage of it 4y

LoverOfLearning I have my school copy sitting on my shelf. It's full of my notes and underlinings. This book is my next to read because I want to rediscover why it was so important for youth to study. I hope I still enjoy it. 😂😬 4y

Sundays is going to be a little hard for me. I never really read when I was younger. I had a problem when it came to reading.... so I didn't like it. I'm trying to think back and all I can think of is this book, reading it in class with the teacher.

jlabombard10315 I never read this as a kid, but I remembered my baby brother loving it! Fast forward to about 28 years later. I now have a toddler who reminds me so much of my brother as a kid that we picked this up and enjoyed the whole story at 36 and 2. 😊💙 4y

thegirlwiththelibrarybag Yessss! I had some on cassette and I would always get scared in one story when they climb over a fence that has a ‘trespassers will be shot‘ sign on it to pick blackberries 😂 I‘ve always been a bit taken with fried onion and bread for supper too - sounds delicious! 4y

The Monster at the End of this Book | Jon Stone
