Thoroughly enjoyed Embers of War. The story begins with a terrible choice and ends with a a satisfactory conclusion that leaves you wanting to immediately know the rest of the story. Recommend!
A Boy Scout (who may or may not have been gay) in a Mormon community has died tragically but is remembered through the narratives of six teenagers who knew him. Or did they? It‘s an intriguing premise but the characters didn‘t ring true to me and I felt the story never quite came together. This is a YA novel and I acknowledge that I‘m not the target audience.
Does a line in a book ever stop you because it doesn‘t ring true? That just happened to me because I have never in my life heard a teenager refer to pants as ‘slacks‘. 👖🤔
I enjoyed this book about a Southern family that started Pan Cola (think Coke). This is a multi-generational tale that is interesting; however, it jumped around. A LOT. I would forget how characters were related, so I suggest reading it quickly before you forget the family tree.
