Pickpick

#MarvellousMay @Andrew65 Just squeezed in 3 books to the challenge with this historical crime novel. Certainly the history was interesting as set in 1781 it centres around the slave trade, abolition, and the profits that mean lives of the poor victims are little more than cargo borrowing from a real sea borne atrocity. A former soldier investigates his friends death in the Deptford docks. A few stutters prose + plotwise but a page turner.

I met my #MarvellousMay goals by finishing Beyond the Tower, and starting the tagged book

I have just reached part 3 so I am nearly halfway through.
It‘s a tough read and I have a feeling it‘s going to get worse, but at the same time I am enjoying the story ☺️

I was almost ready to call it quits after book 2, but the ending encouraged me - now I'm calling it quits pg.103 - I think I need a break from teen angst and the MC not knowing exactly what is going on etc.
My #BookSpinBingo is crazy this month! I spent too much time on books I wasn't really interested in. The 3 current reads (in red) are good.

I did reach my #MarvellousMay goals (yay) thx for hosting @Andrew65

Make a great day everyone - 🙂

Readergrrl I love Chris Moore! What a great author. I met a friend of his who said CM is just as funny and goofy and witty in real life and has been since they were kids together! 13h

Progress is being made. I‘m making progress on the Clanlands Almanac, but I‘m not completely caught up yet. Poetry hasn‘t even been touched. I‘ve been totally absorbed in the world of the Black Dagger Brotherhood lately.

Much of this book was over my head because I didn't grow up with biblical stories and I was not able to follow the references and I had trouble grasping the author's writing style. I did appreciate some of his humor and I respect anybody with the courage to transition and to write a unique book about it

3rd book read for the #MarvellousMay #Readathon @Andrew65
