I‘m all done with the #LitsyReadingChallenge bingo! Read lots of really great and diverse books, with ‘Born a Crime‘ for #LRC9 and ‘The Strays‘ for #LRC22 being my two favorites.... Finished on a high note with ‘Stay with me‘ for #LRC5.... a fab debut from Nigeria....

KarenUK @Jas16 @erzascarletbookgasm @Daisey @Ms_T @barbarabb @Redwritinghood Thanks all! It was my favorite challenge this year... pushed me to read diversely, but never felt like a chore.... 💕📚 6y
BarbaraBB I don‘t know that challenge, but it seems great. Do you know if someone is organizing this? 6y
KarenUK @barbarabb it was @Jessica who organized it.... I really liked the categories... there is a good reads group for it too 👍 6y
BarbaraBB Thanks! I found @jessica and the challenge. I hope there‘ll be one in 2018 again! 6y
jessberk13 @BarbaraBB @karenuk I'm working on the prompts for next year! Send your ideas my way! 6y
BarbaraBB @jessica Great! I don‘t know what prompts you‘ve already used but perhaps something like this: about islam / dystopian / World War 1 / written in the year you were born / about survival / about adultery / by an author you‘ve never read a book before / winner of a literary price / originally written in French / set in Japan .... just some ideas 😀, as I said I haven‘t played before so maybe I am all wrong! 6y
KarenUK @jessica @barbarabb a few more ideas.... a travelogue, a book of poetry written in the last year, a gothic classic, Set in the 80‘s, a romance novel, set in a boarding school, a book on mindfulness, a fiction or non fiction about sports.... 6y
BarbaraBB @KarenUK Great choices! I immediately start thinking what books should go with these! 6y
jessberk13 @Barbarabb @KarenUK noted!!! Took a screen shot so I have these ideas!! 6y
BarbaraBB @jessica Looking forward to the new challenge. Good luck with making it! 6y

Ishmael is a brave and remarkable man for sharing his story. There's so much more I'm struggling to figure out how to put into words, so instead I'll just say everyone should read this. One of the most challenging parts is when you realize the ones you thought were supposed to be the "good" guys have almost the same feelings (or lack of),thoughts and actions as the bad guys. #lrc9 #litsyreadingchallenge #readharder2017

Thanks to the #LitsyReadingChallenge for giving me a reason to step out of my comfort zone. I rarely read non-fiction, but I needed a book for the Person of Color Memoir, so I chose this and I am really glad I did. Trevor Noah recounts anecdotes from his childhood growing up during the transition from apartheid to democracy in South Africa. It was hilarious, but heartfelt and left me an even bigger fan of Trevor Noah. #LRC9

This was my first audiobook, and although I enjoyed the book it took longer than if I had read it in print.

Trevor is an engaging narrator, and really brought his childhood to life. His mum sounds amazing!

This book was shorter, and in a smaller format, so I finished it in two days. The length did not reduce the impact it had on me. In readable, but well supported, honest terms it underlined the impact of growing up black in the US. It doesn't sugar-coat, and it hammers a point home: racism is real, prejudice exists, and privilege is a fact. It's a eulogy and a manifesto, all in one. #blackauthor #memoir #LRC9 #notmyphoto

It's only February & already I'm slacking on my vow to write all reviews within 24 hours of finishing.😬 I loved Another Brooklyn & I may just love this book even more. Gorgeously lyrical memoir told through poems that touch the soul. Unique & moving & approachable even if poetry isn't your *thing*. I checked this book out from the library but I may have to get the the audio to listen to Woodson read her story. 📚👍#LitsyReadingChallenge #LRC9

Christine Yes, the audio is also excellent! ❤ 7y
DebinHawaii @Christine It must be! 👍💜 7y
