Little Lord Fauntleroy | Frances Hodgson Burnett
Pickpick

I‘m so glad I read this children‘s classic. Such a delightful read about a little lord and how he was ‘jiggered‘ by his newfound earldom. Children‘s books are the best #inbetween reads.
Knickerbockers!! 😄

It‘s not everyday that a thirteen-year-old recommends Hemingway to someone. She said that it was her favourite book, and I would love it. 😊💕

Gratuitous photo of Exeter Cathedral as there's no scaffolding on the West Front for once AND the sun was shining.

It's been a 👿 of a week, with stress levels 🚀. So time to do stuff today, and a day out tomorrow.

Thanks to Rachel for her giveaway. I think this would be perfect for you- a walk along the south west coast 😁 If you haven‘t already read it!!
I would be interested in no 2 Defy the Worlds - as I think I have the first in the tbr pile!

rockpools Ha! I *might* have bought this for a gazillion people (or at least 3). And my copy *might* still be on my shelf unread. Perfect! Thanks for entering 😊 6y

Congratulations @RachelO on your anniversaries!
And thanks for the #giveaway.
For #inbetween reads I would recommend the tagged book, Grief is the thing with feathers if you haven't read it, This is going to hurt which isn't short but it's diary entries so you can dip in and out, and anything on Serial Reader!
I would like to win A Herring Famine which I was recommended a couple of months ago.
Congrats again! 💕💕

rockpools Hi Jess, thanks for entering! For some readon I've never read Lionel Shriver - this could be a good place to start! And nope, still haven't read the Matt Haig either - my tbr's exploding 😉 6y
jhod Oh it's by Adam Kay - a junior doctor - not MH. Have only read how to stop time by him and didn't like it, but will be trying the humans soon! 6y
rockpools @jhod I'm being dozy! It was Grief is a thing with feathers that I was muddling with How to Stop Time - I do have the doctors one stacked, but part of me would rather not know 🙈. Obviously need to read them all & untangle myself! 6y
Libby1 My husband just saw your post card from Italy, and turning it over, said: “Who‘s Jihad?” 🤣🤣🤣 6y
jhod @libby1 😂 I should chosen my handle more carefully! 6y

#InBetween @RachelO congratulations 🎉. And thankyou for your generosity. I usually don‘t read short stories or books. But I would highly recommend the tagged book of stories, especially the first story: Mrs. Fox 👍🏻🦊.
I would be interested in Every Note Played, this sounds very good ❤️👍🏻

rockpools Hi @Cathythoughts , thanks for entering! I remember you liking this one - I've still got one of her novels unread on audio. Will definitely look out for Mr Fox 🦊 6y

Mildew | Paulette Jonguitud, Paulette Jonguitud Acosta
post image

Congratulations on your Litsyversary & freelanciversary, @RachelO ! Thank you for this #inbetween giveaway. Mildew is translated from Spanish by the author. It's some 90+ pages of gripping, fever dream-type hallucinatory prose about sexuality, motherhood, life, & death. So good. I'm looking forward to Marie NDiaye's short Self Portrait in Green for more of the same.

I'd love to win either (1) Imaginary Cities or (5) The Unofficial Countryside 😍

rockpools Hello @batsy! You do find interesting books! I hadn't clocked this one, and was aware of N'Diaye from ?last year's MBI? but Obviously haven't read her! Will give her a go. Thanks for entering 😊 6y
batsy @RachelO I loved her Three Strong Women and All My Friends so I'm really looking forward to this one! Thanks for the opportunity 💚 6y

The Word for World is Forest | Ursula K. Le Guin
post image

I think you like Science Fiction or Fantasy, @RachelO , but I certainly do, and I love novellas and novelettes. They are great palate cleansers, great for #inbetween. Every one of Ursula K. LeGuin‘s novellas are little zingers. I love them.

Of the books you listed, I really want to read Every Not Played. Thanks for the #giveaway!!

rockpools Confession time! I read the Earthsea Trilogy (yep, trilogy!) when I was at school, but haven't read UKLG since. These would be a great way back in! Thanks for entering 😊 6y
DivaDiane The remainder of the Earthsea series (or actually all of them, since they are all brief novels) would make excellent in between books. The last book in the series “Tales from Earthsea and the Other Wind” is a collection of short stories and a novella. Enjoy 6y
DivaDiane Oh and don‘t forget Rocannon‘s World. It‘s part of the group of 3 novellas including Planet of Exile and City of Illusion. 6y
