Damon is being bullied as one of the few Indigenous teens at school, while his mother struggles to overcome addiction. Gritty realism with a touch of the unexplained or fantastical. The digital art by nonbinary cartoonist nicole marie burton isn‘t to my taste, but this is nevertheless a strong first volume in a graphic novel series about intergenerational trauma by Cree author Wanda John-Kehewin. #Indigenous #YA #comics #CanLit

Set in Thailand, a young American journalist, Stephen Lelliott, is assigned to expose a coverup. He is about to break the two cardinal rules of journalism: Don‘t fall in love. And don‘t get killed....

Book 4 in The Crow series.

Thanks to @willaful for posting about this one. It‘s out of print (and used copies will run you about a hundred bucks,) but a digitized copy is available to borrow on Open Library.
It‘s a delightful book, and should not be lost to the whims of waning popularity and the ravages of time on physical objects.

Ruthiella I‘ve not read this, but I wish I were immensely wealthy so I could fund a revival of bringing these older children‘s books back in print. Maybe with Levar Burton helping with publicity. 😍 6mo
Aimeesue @Ruthiella oh, wouldn‘t that be fabulous? Even if in ebook form initially, like Furrowed Middlebrow. 6mo
Ruthiella Well, because this is my fantasy, I publish them all in hardcover, with the original illustrations and covers. 🤩 (edited) 6mo

Ruthiella @Aimeesue I want to start with the Melendy family books by Elizabeth Enright..though they are actually still in print, I think 6mo
Aimeesue @Ruthiella I‘ve never read them! I looked them up and they are still in print and sound WONDERFUL! 6mo

A crazed militia planted a bomb in a day-care center, killing a dedicated teacher and ten children she cared for. Now she‘s back on a search-and-destroy mission to avenge them.

Book 3 in The Crow series. My favorite so far.

Book Two in The Crow series.

Jared Poe was framed and sentenced to death for the murder of his lover Benny, leaving a serial killer free to continue targeting the trans community of New Orleans. Now he‘s back to clear his name and find the real killer.

Another good read by Poppy Z. Brite.

Book One in The Crow series

William Blessing is a Dark fantasy author with a Poe obsession. One night, an innocent plot concocted by a “friend” goes horribly wrong, resulting in William‘s murder, the rape of his wife, and the theft of his rare Poe collection. Now he‘s back, seeking revenge on the ones responsible and the friend who betrayed him.

This was really good. Heavy with Poe references.
