Good morning! A slightly different view from my backyard than last night, but it‘s my favorite place to be on these beautiful fall days. I spent some time making these breakfast biscuits to pull from the freezer on busy mornings, and now I‘m catching up on some A Tree a Day reading. These short anecdotes about trees from all over the world continue to be so interesting.

Sparklemn Smart idea with the biscuits! 1mo
Daisey @Sparklemn I‘m always looking for things to change up my easy breakfast rotation. These won‘t replace anything, but they‘re a good addition. 1mo

I started this morning by baking these sourdough rolls and reading this book, a sequel to Misty of Chincoteague, that I happened across as we were sorting through things at my grandparents‘ house. It‘s another story of the pony penning on the island and the kids taking care of an orphaned foal.

Tamra Just thinking about grandparents‘ house & things brings back happy memories. 😊 Lots of nooks & crannies of fun things. 2mo
Daisey @Tamra So true! 2mo

I‘m not generally a poetry reader, but this collection is by an author from my hometown so I decided to support his work and give it a read. I‘m reading a few poems each morning this week with breakfast.

School‘s out for the summer, so I‘ve got a few quiet mornings to enjoy a slow start with a book. I‘m looking forward to getting into this next Shardlake novel. I read it once before, but in a rush so that I remember even less than the others I read longer ago.

I have the day off today. Starting off with a leisurely #BookAndBreakfast - pulled a scone from the freezer and made some tea to go along with this book which started slow but has turned into quite the page turner.

Lesliereadsalot Why didn‘t I pull a scone out of my freezer to go with my tea this am? So jealous. 7mo
Bookwormjillk @Lesliereadsalot It was one of the better decisions I made last night. 7mo

Sunday morning book and breakfast

This is the essay I‘m the most intrigued to read, but I also expect to be frustrated by wanting more. After reading several of Tolkien‘s incomplete works, I know kind of what to expect. This includes commentary about Tolkien‘s nearly indecipherable notes and just enough detail to make you want to know more when it‘s impossible.

JazzFeathers 😂 I can't wait to read it too. I kept having Silmarillion vibes while reading the text 😜 9mo

#BookandBreakfast of banana pancakes & bacon on this fine snow day! I read the first chapter of Assassin's Apprentice before bed last night and it very well be my favorite first chapter I've ever read. I got immediately sucked in and I cannot wait to read more about Fitz.

Happy Sunday! My goal this week is to read a canto daily, but I‘m not sure I‘ll manage it consistently. Whether or not I get to post during the week, I‘m happy to be back to some Sunday mornings with Tolkien. I don‘t consider myself much of a poetry fan, but I love this alliterative style of narrative poem. The language is beautiful.

Daisey It‘s also been a while since I‘ve read any version of the Arthur legend, so I may need to look for something in audio form for some comparison. 9mo
JazzFeathers You know? I was a fan of Arthurian legends before l was a Tolkien fan. When l was a teenager, l read both sours materials and many retellings. Yet, it's been a long time. It'll be fun to read something that gets these two passions of mine together 😊 9mo

Daisey @BooksandCoffee4Me I‘ve added you to the tag list for this book! Do you want to be on my master list for Tolkien reads as well to know when we‘re going to start a new book? 9mo
BooksandCoffee4Me @Daisey Yes, thank you! I‘m excited about reading more of his work now that I‘ve read about him! 9mo
