August brought pretty meager reading - this was probably the busiest month of 2017! I worked into nights, we traveled to see the eclipse, my daughter moved out to the dorms, my other started school...

What I read was good (except for AFAR, which at least was pretty). Overall I enjoyed them but I am hoping for more in September!

PurpleyPumpkin Nicely done! 👍🏽 5y
kspenmoll Where did you see the eclipse? I was in Nebraska at my sister's. 5y

Gezemice @kspenmoll I live in central Illnois, we drove to St Louis and we found a small state park nearby tgat was in the zone. It was in Robertsville, Missouri. We had no clouds and we found shade, too! 5y
Gezemice @RealBooks4ever It is good but no rush! My reading challenge required a steampunk novel so I bumped it up on the TBR. (edited) 5y
kspenmoll So happy for you! We initially had clouds but parted in time- near Grand Island of rt 80. 5y
Gezemice @kspenmoll Glad to hear you could see the main act! It was amazing. 5y

A bit late with my #bestofaugust/end-of-month roundup... but here it is! I couldn't decide on my favorite--I had so much fun re-reading with #LOTRchapteraday AND introducing myself to Agatha Christie for the first time. I didn't read as many from the TBR this month, though--gotta get cracking for #LitsyAtoZ if I'm gonna finish by the end of the year!

DebinHawaii Great job! 📚👍 5y
monkeygirlsmama I still haven't done my August tally yet. 🤦🏻‍♂️ 5y
BarbaraJean @DebinHawaii Thanks! @Lindy Me too! I checked it out because the title was hilarious... but found the artwork beautiful, and was impressed by the message of the story. 5y
Lindy @BarbaraJean Yes, surprisingly haunting for something so whimsical on the surface. 5y

August wasn't a great reading month for me, and it's only going to get worse because classes start next week. I read 10 books in August, which isn't bad, but I would have liked to read more. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo was my #BestOfAugust. #AugustWrapUp #AndItsAugust #BooksAcrossOceans

CouronneDhiver Nothing wrong with that... looks like you picked some great reads! 👍 5y
Rachellynnwright Agreed @CouronneDhiver, it's more about quality anyway! 5y
L_auren Evelyn was mine too!! 5y
candority That's true, thanks @CouronneDhiver & @Rachellynnwright! It was so good @L_auren! 5y
Andrew65 Well done. 🙌👏 I need to get to 4y

Starting my #litsypartyofone, well I guess two because of my six year old who painted the awesome bookend. The #bestofaugust goes to Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng or Kwame Alexander's Solo. It'll change depending on my mood 😅 Seriously they were both amazing... Works of fiction with gorgeous writing exploring family dynamics in families of color? Yes please!
Forgot to mention my September #TBR

#anditsaugust #awesomeautumnbooks

EchoLogical Funny story about Celeste Ng: I actually sat next to her at the 2015 Decatur Book Festival but had no idea who she was because I hadn't read her book yet. I'm definitely kicking myself in the butt now that I've read and loved her work. 😥 5y
mom2bugnbee The bookend is gorgeous! So special! 5y
EchoLogical @mom2bugnbee Thanks 🙂 5y

Day 31 #AndItsAugust #BestofAugust Catching up from yesterday with August stats & Best of August. Overall a good reading month. In addition to the finished books I started several others & have 2 in process for #hpchapteraday & #LOTRchapteraday I read plenty of great books this month, but these 4 are the ones I enjoyed the most or found most interesting. Still behind on reviews-Litsy & Goodreads-so I may try to work on that this holiday weekend.📚

My first two winners for August were easy to pick but third place was tough... in the end Idaho is the one that keeps lingering in my mind and that I don't think I will forget for a long time 🍁

🥇The Heart's Invisible Furies
🥈All Involved

sisilia I enjoyed Idaho, DNF The Hopefuls, and I'm really looking forward to Boyne's new book 5y
emilyhaldi @sisilia The Hopefuls was almost a bail for me... I skimmed through some of the last 100 pages. Never got interested in any of the characters 5y

These are the notebook pages I used to keep track of my August reading. August was a good month minus the fact I bought more books than I read from my own shelves.
Best of the month:
1. Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine
2. Ghost of the Innocent Man
3, Burn For Me/ White Hot
#bestofaugust #anditsaugust

AmandaL I ❤️❤️❤️ Burn for Me and White Hot. 5y
