Told in a series of interviews, this tells the horrific story of what could happen if a bunch of young adults are stranded in an amusement park during a hurricane. It definitely draws inspiration from Lord of the Flies. There are some plot holes and everything goes wrong far too quickly, but overall a solid quick read. 3.5⭐️

Gissy I enjoyed this one too and the audio was great 3d
Nessavamusic @gissy it absolutely was! I don‘t know if I would have enjoyed it as much physically 3d

It's always the surprises we remember most, and Joyland was, for me, the epitome of an unanticipated gem hiding in King's canon. While I certainly enjoyed King's first foray into the world of Hard Case Crime, Joyland is miles beyond that first effort. Engaging and likable characters, a unique setting, a compelling mystery, and a touch of the supernatural combine to make this an unforgettable ride. 5/5

Disappointed. DNF. Some parts were good but 3/4 of the way and I just couldn't keep going. A bit unrealistic. But maybe it's me, I'm the problem, maybe. 🤷‍♀️

My October favourite was Fantasticland. I listened to this as an audiobook, which worked really well with the interview style! The narrators were both amazing 🤩

I tried to read this in the past but just couldn't get into it. I tried the audiobook version this time and found it easier to understand. I liked the different voices and interview style of the book. Fantasticland is about what could happen to a group of mostly young people get stranded and lose hope as well as their humanity along the way. A hurricane is scary enough but when rescue seems nowhere in sight paranoia and chaos ensues
