Next up on audio…Had free credit from Audible and was finally able to get my hands on Arriaga‘s short story collection.

Already listened to the first one and this man never ceases to surprise me.

I enjoyed this short story; it was an interesting blend of steampunk, fantasy (sans the elves & dwarfs), and Arabic culture. I especially liked the cosmic horror and ancient Egyptian elements. I'm wanting more so much that my very next read will be something else from the Dead Djinn Universe!

RosePressedPages One of my favs 🖤🫀 5d
GingerAntics @RosePressedPages this one was definitely dark, but through the whole process was so intriguing. Human nature in a nut shell. 5d

A vain man who refuses to wear his glasses. His name says it all. Because of his vanity, he ends up marrying his great-great-grandmother. Couldn‘t stop laughing at him.

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I'm scrolling through my feed, and seeing this graphic after the defined buttcheeks on your The Tell-Tale Heart post, I'm laughing out loud. 🤣 5d
GingerAntics @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I did not notice those butt cheeks!!! 🤣😂🤣 That is ridiculously funny to have this right after. 5d

An ancient Egyptian mummy electrocuted back to life. They spoke to the mummy in Egyptian about all sorts of topics. Explores the idea that not everything was invented by Europeans.

Pickpick

4.1⭐️ and to complete out my October reads, I am with this creepy little short story. I have read Joe Hill before and I didn‘t get the creep vibes from his full length features as I did from this 54 page book. I am still shaking off the heebie-jeebies. Was I terrified… No. Did it make me question sounds… 100%! Fun way to end the month!

Metaphysics with Poe? Poe‘s visit to the Dead Philosophers Society? The Dead Philosophers Society reads Poe? I don‘t know, this is definitely tied with The Masque of the Red Death. This definitely turns on all the brain cells and gets you thinking.

AlaSkaat I have never read any of his stuff before 6d
DrSabrinaMoldenReads I still can‘t follow you. I would love to learn about the books you read 6d
GingerAntics @AlaSkaat I‘ve never read any before last night. Some I love. Some I hate. Some I like. He definitely has a lot of variation. I‘d say definitely get a collection like this so you can explore different writings of his. 6d
dabbe @TheBookHippie Yes indeedy! 🖤🐦‍⬛🖤 My juniors always loved him the best, too. Wonder why? 😂 6d
GingerAntics @dabbe he can be gory. He can be dark. He can be mysterious. He can even give a happy ending now and then. He‘s seemingly got something for everyone. 6d
dabbe @GingerAntics And he knew how to gut-punch us to our very souls. He dared to question everyone's sanity and whether we all feel madness once in a while. He even loved graveyards ... like me. 6d
Doll8455 My grandfather was a Baptist preacher and he loved for me to read anything by Poe. 4d
GingerAntics @Doll8455 wow, that‘s shocking. Most of the Baptist kids I knew were never allowed to read Poe. 4d
Doll8455 My grandfather was open minded and would never put up with “banned books”. 4d
GingerAntics @Doll8455 so glad the world had a person like him! 🧡🧡🧡 We need more of him. 4d

Poe‘s version of The Decameron, where the rich revellers are hunted down by the plague and killed. This is justice! Love it. This is my absolute favourite, by far, so far.

GingerAntics @dabbe I love when the plague comes in and is like “nice try rich people!” 🤣😂🤣 6d
dabbe @GingerAntics Is bad of me to wish something like that now? Hey all you privileged people--wake up call! 😂😂😂 6d
GingerAntics @dabbe I was kind of hoping for that during COVID, but I‘m down for that now, too. Rich people generally do need a wake up call and a reality check! 6d
