I never know what I might find on my mom‘s bookshelves... this one about #powerandthepassion has piqued my interest ❣️

TommieMarie74 I used to love perusing my mom‘s bookshelves. I found several gems there over the years. 2y
Reviewsbylola Sounds good. I read a memoir written by one of JFK‘s mistresses and thought it was great. Although it‘s hard to reconcile liking JFK with the fact that he was also a shitty, philandering husband. 2y
Christine11 Sounds fascinating ! 2y

Mdargusch Let me know if you like it since I‘ve never read it. 🙄 2y
ValerieAndBooks Isn‘t she the one who was Ben Bradlee‘s SIL? Looks interesting! 2y
Cinfhen So interesting👍🏻 2y

Just purchased at brown bag books at Smorgasborg LA...the blurb makes it sounds like it fits for #powerandthepassion with “murder, magic, and madness at the fair that changed America.” Looking forward to this read. #marchintooz

I Love Dick | Chris Kraus
post image

I Love Dick flips the male gaze around. The male ideal becomes the object of obsession and possession, switching up #powerandthepassion
The tv adaptation of the book is fantastic too. Kevin Bacon is a perfect Dick.

batsy Love the book and loved the pilot episode of the series; need to watch the rest! He is the perfect Dick. 2y
UrsulaMonarch @batsy ooo you're in for a treat with the rest of the series! 😊 2y

#PowerAndThePassion #MarchIntoOz - Loads of power plays and passion in Game of Thrones. I‘ve read the first three but not the rest - probably because I watched the tv show - I‘ll get to them eventually hopefully! 👑

Mitch I‘m just one ahead of you @Christine11 They‘re such addictive reading! 2y
jillannjohn I read them all before the show started. It‘s one of my favorite series and favorite show. Enjoy! 2y
Christine11 @Mitch They are definitely addictive - I just got a bit distracted by the show ! 😊 2y

Christine11 @jillannjohn Thanks ! I kind of wish I‘d read them before the show began too, to be honest! 😊 2y
Mitch Me too! I was trying to read a book then watch a series - but when the timelines and plots all changed I gave that up! Mr K couldn‘t wait for me to read the next book before we watched more either. I‘ll definitely go back to them. I‘d actually like to read back from the beginning again. 2y
SandyW I have given up on reading Martin. The last GoT was awful, he only dealt with half the character set, and it's been so long since he published... I'm going to finish out the TV series, HBO has done an excellent job. Don't get me wrong, I loved the books, but I'd have to re read books to get caught up, and there are too many good books out there that I haven't read yet, and more keep coming! 2y
Christine11 @Mitch I definitely think you‘re right - it gets way too confusing trying to watch the series and read the books at the same time - I think I‘ll go back to them too at some point after the series finishes ! 😊 2y
Christine11 @SandyW It definitely is frustrating that it‘s taking so long for him to publish the next one! I‘m going to watch the series like you but I agree that I would have to reread them and start all over again which like you say is just too time consuming! 😊 2y

Kushiel's Avatar | Jacqueline Carey

Congrats @melyndarae , and thanks for the #mels3kgiveaway!

It‘s really hard for me to choose a favorite trilogy. I love fantasy trilogies! But I‘ll choose Jacqueline Carey‘s first Kushiel set. Phedre and Joselin and their adventures and the intrigue are delicious and shocking.

(These also work for #powerandthepassion for #marchintooz)

TsundokuAleax Omg, I love these books so much!!! No one ever knows them. I have the original paperbacks as well and kick myself that I never got the hardback versions. I am not a fan of some of the new covers and am always on the hunt when I got to secondhand shops now. 2y
Soubhiville @TsundokuAleax i had all the hardcovers except Dart, and my husband got me the first edition signed copy for Xmas. I‘ve read this series more times than any other. I love JC! 2y
TsundokuAleax @Soubhiville wow, you husband deserves a gold medal. I keep wanting to reread them but then I look at my TBR pile. I am hoping this year to make a dent in those so next year I can reread some books on my shelves.. 2y

Blood and Beauty | Sarah Dunant

I can‘t think of a family more suitable for #PowerandthePassion than the Borgia‘s. #MarchintoOz

Blood & Beauty gets mixed reviews, but I thought it was excellent. In the Name of the Family is on my TBR.

LeahBergen Those Borgias! 2y

A prince who leaves his family to fight in the war against Napoleon; an illegitimate son of a count who is fighting for his inheritance; a beautiful daughter of a nobleman who intrigues both men. Amidst the background of Napoleon‘s invasion of Russia in 1812. All the #powerandthepassion we can expect from this magnificent novel.
#marchintooz @Cinfhen @Lizpixie

oOArankaOo I might try this with Serial - the sheer size of the book feels so daunting! 2y
Maria514626 @oOArankaOo That‘s a great idea. When I see the size of it I just back away. 🤦‍♀️ 2y
Centique I was just looking at this on my shelf five minutes ago. It‘s nagging at me to hurry up and read it! 2y

The Last Tudor | Philippa Gregory
post image

Anything Tudor means #PowerandthePassion . I loved this recent one by Gregory, which chronicles the Grey sisters - Jane was queen for 9 days before Mary Tudor took the throne! Each sister has their own ambition, but it‘s really the family that propels them to the sisters‘ positions in court. The more I read about the Grey sisters, the more saddened I am, especially for Jane. Family do not always have the best intentions in mind. #MarchIntoOz

Cinfhen Haven‘t read this one but I agree the royals certainly fit the bill for power & passion 🙌🏻 2y
Librarybelle @Cinfhen I‘ve only read a few by Gregory, but this one is my favorite 2y
Itchyfeetreader Jane Grey is a fascinating character - I haven‘t read a Gregory for a while but might give this a go 2y

Raebelle I read a biography on Lady Jane Grey in grade school and just cried and cried...I'll have to keep an eye out for this book 2y
Librarybelle @Raebelle It is such a tragic story! If you want to read even more, I read this one a few years ago and really liked it (it‘s nonfiction): 2y
