Another excellent addition in the Pandava Quartet series! Which is apparently not going to be a quartet, I heard there will be a 5th book. 😫 I was kind of hoping next month‘s release would be the conclusion. The cliffhanger endings are getting to me!

Using this for the #pop21 forgetting prompt, since their is a lot of backstory about one character who made the choice to give up many of their memories.

I wanted to read this #audiobook back in December for #aam, but there was a line until now...for a book published in 1939. That‘s how you know sh!t‘s good!

I‘m a big fan of #LockedRoomMysteries, so I‘m glad to finally have read one of the most imitated. (Looking at you Lucy Foley!)

#popsugar21

rachelm Love this one!! 3y
KathyWheeler I consider this book to be Christie‘s best — at least of the ones I‘ve read. 3y
BarbaraBB I have read and loved tons of Christie books in my teens ❤️ 3y

Megabooks @rachelm yes! 👍🏻 3y
Megabooks @KathyWheeler this is only the second I‘ve read, but i certainly enjoyed it! 3y
Megabooks @BarbaraBB so did my mom, but she was reading them back in the 50s when they were relatively new. She could never get me to love them at that age. I read a lot of high fantasy and sci fi in middle school, then in high school I decided to be “popular” and didn‘t read much outside of school assignments. 🤷🏻‍♀️ then we got a bookstore with a coffee shop and that was cool, so I started reading again. Many interesting stories from that store! 3y
Megabooks @BarbaraBB that‘s probably an overshare, but we‘re friends! 😜😂😂 3y
Cinfhen I read this one too for same prompt!! Dame Agatha is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥!!!! Try this one, also REALLY GOOD 3y
Cinfhen I did audio for all 3 and Hugh Fraser was the reader 🙌🏻♥️ 3y
Cinfhen We need to start adding Meg to our #pop21 group for more ideas @BarbaraBB @KarenUK @Kalalalatja @4thhouseontheleft 3y
Megabooks @Cinfhen thanks for the suggestions!! I‘ve already done 24/40 on pop as best I can tell. If anyone is on the storygraph, you can see my answers there. I‘m also at 18/24 on booked. 🔥🔥🔥 3y
BarbaraBB I love The Storygraph for keeping track of the challenges too! I can‘t however see which books you read for #pop21. Or am I mistaken? 3y
BarbaraBB No overshare regarding your reading history! I had a similar one. Sort of. I could read from when I was 3 and read literally everything. In high school that wasn‘t cool anymore so I read just the assignments too. In college, after a year, I felt lonely and I realized I had spent all my money on beer. I decided I allowed myself to buy one book a month. Deciding each month which book to buy with the little money I had brought back the love! 3y
Megabooks @BarbaraBB when did you get English fluency? The bookstore was fantastic b/c I could borrow books as long as they came back in sellable condition. And I get the money thing. Same for me in vet school, but there was a great used media store where I could change CDs for DVDs for books and round & round. I used the e-library a lot when I graduated, but eventually I got to my current balance of owned books and borrowed. I probably spend a bit much tho 3y
BarbaraBB I spend too much too. But I have hardly had other expenses the past year with everything closed! That bookstore sounds like a dream. So cool they lend you the books! We learn English at school from about when we are 10 years old. These days kids can go to high schools where all lessons are in English. 3y
Megabooks @BarbaraBB wow! When I was in school we didn‘t start languages until 13 and it was inconsistent and poorly taught. I did win the Latin award in high school. Totally useful! 😂😂 I did enjoy reading Cicero and such FWIW. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I‘ve probably been spending too much on books too, but it‘s the most consistent form of entertainment I‘ve had during the pandemic, so I‘ll give myself a pass! 👍🏻 3y
alisiakae @Megabooks wow! You are flying through the reading challenges! 🙌🏽🔥 3y
BarbaraBB Well we need to speak other languages since we are such a small country. We also learn French, German and Spanish. If you do grammar school (is that what it‘s called?) like my kids do, you learn Latin and (old) Greek too. I haven‘t done that so I am in awe for your knowledge of Latin!! 3y
Megabooks @4thhouseontheleft thanks!! I think it‘s just because I‘m flying through books this year! 😂😃 3y
Megabooks @BarbaraBB it‘s not so good anymore, but it‘s better than my French, which is the other language I took in high school. I studied Arabic in college and was best at that, but I only did three semesters. (There were up to six semesters offered.) It was also a case if you don‘t use it, you lose it, but I still understand the most common triliteral roots, so that gives me some reading comprehension. 3y
BarbaraBB Arabic! That is fantastic! I love that you choose that language and I envy your knowledge of it! I‘d have loved to speak Arabic! 3y

I didn't much care for this. It seemed to dry for me. Maybe it was the audiobook I listened to. 🤔 I'm not sure.

TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!! 3y
Jennaree3 *spoiler alert**I‘m in the middle of this and thought the same thing. I understand what the author is trying to do...trying to make an emotional connection with the people on board and I‘m assuming there is going to be a crash but I haven‘t gotten there yet. I wonder if it would have been more powerful to have the crash first. Then, all of the little idiosyncrasies of the characters in the beginning would have been more relevant, and meaningful 3y

I think this is one of the most gorgeous covers. This is my first Jemison and I loved it. My favorite short stories were the ones that had a dystopian feel like The Valedictorian when AI creatures were the victor and knew how to keep the people down.

Milton Hatoum's novel converted into a graphic novel by the same brothers who worked on The Umbrella Academy. Passion, revenge, intense hatred set in Manuas. It was a treat to read.

Love learning tidbits of a different culture.

+ The government IS trying to protect the Amazon from future grazing sites.
+ Art of all kinds, including Indian handicrafts are celebrated.
- The Amazon River is being polluted by mercury used for gold mining.
- Distinct class setup. White are rich. Black and indigenous are poor.

I love a good historical fiction that teaches as well as entertains. As the Christ the Redeemer is being built, a romance brews between the sculptor's assistant and the local rich girl. The romance was okay, but I was fascinated by the history of the gigantic Savior who looks over the impoverished favelas and the Copacabana crowd. #FoodandLit (1/5) @Texreader #PopSugar21 -like to visit in 2021 $4.57 @dariazeoli #SeriesRead - Book 1 @TheSpineView
