I own both the book in print & the ebook on my Kindle. I‘ve decided there are too many words I‘m not familiar with, so I‘m going with the helpful built in dictionary. Such a great feature that I almost never use.

Prairiegirl_reading I‘ve never heard that word before, that‘s for sure! What does it mean? 6mo
Larkken Oh, man, the dictionary and translate functions on kindle are one of my favorite parts; when my kindle isn‘t on airplane mode, that is! 6mo
EvieBee @Larkken LOL same! Got to extend those library checkouts, right? 6mo

I‘ve been a bit rubbish at posting my #BFC21 goals the last few months, so here‘s an achievement instead.

I discovered there‘s a Couch to 5K version of the Zombies Run! app. I‘m kind of obsessed. I‘m managing 2 rather than 3 runs a week (but that‘s 2 more than 0, right?) & I‘m loving it. Yes, I‘m still shambling along, but at least I‘m doing.

I‘ve also shelved the FitBit for August- am trying to focus more on getting outside than counting steps.

BookwormM Go you 14mo
wanderinglynn That‘s awesome! Way to go! 🙌🏻 14mo
squirrelbrain I was intrigued by this when you mentioned it in your letter….do you have to run away from Zombies? 🤔 14mo

rockpools @BookwormM 🤣🤣 It‘s SO obviously my thing, isn‘t it?! 🧟‍♀️ 🤔 14mo
rockpools @wanderinglynn 🤣 Thank you! 14mo
rockpools @squirrelbrain Like I said, a tad obsessed - sorry 😁 In a nutshell, though… yes. There‘s a lot of story to it, though - you‘re in training as a ‘Runner‘ in an area surrounded by Zoms, so you‘re doing your training run/walk things but there‘s always some sort of incident or close shave ss you go. I blame Litsy. Zombies are so not my thing, even if I grew up in Shaun of the Dead territory, but I‘m finding this massively entertaining! 14mo
squirrelbrain I don‘t do running…do you think I could walk quickly away from zombies?! 🤣 14mo
Chrissyreadit I love it!!! 14mo
rockpools @squirrelbrain Oh definitely! Many of them only shamble along, apparently, so a brisk walk gets you nicely out of the way. #LiveAndLearn (Who even am I?!) 14mo

Soubhiville I loved this book so much! 1y
Deblovestoread 5 🌟 read for me. 💜 1y
Cinfhen Having trouble focusing 🧘‍♀️ so I‘m putting this on temporary hold @Soubhiville @Kdgordon88 because I‘ve heard it‘s phenomenal and I want to make sure im fully immersed 🐙🤩 1y
Megabooks This was a really emotional read for me. I can‘t eat octopus now. 1y
Centique @Megabooks I gave up eating octopus a few years ago after reading something about how intelligent they are. But I want to get to this book too! Did you guys see the Netflix doco “My Octopus Teacher” god I loved that 💕 1y

I‘ve always been fascinated by Nixon and Watergate, so when my library got the chronological downfall of Nixon structured as a Shakespearean tragedy, I had to say yes! The #audiobook includes bonus excerpts from Nixon‘s actual recordings. This book really deals well with the alliance-shifting in Nixon‘s inner circle.

One of my fav 90s movies is Dick with Dunst and Williams. Will Farrell plays Woodward and says, “There is no Herligman!” ⬇️

Megabooks ⬆️ when he‘s frustrated that the teenage Deepthoats can‘t keep the White House staffers straight! 😂😂 #JoysOfJune Book 4/6 completing #BookspinBingo board; Library audiobook 2/3 @Andrew65 1y
Bookwormjillk That sounds amazing 1y
Andrew65 Well done 👏👏👏 1y

Hooked_on_books I‘m not sure I would be interested in this without your review. But now, 🤔 1y
Megabooks @Bookwormjillk I was surprised how much I enjoyed this! 1y
Megabooks @Hooked_on_books definitely go audio if you read it. Totally worth it for those excerpts!! 1y
Cinfhen I‘ll look for a #BorrowNotBuy but your review has me intrigued #LiveAndLearn 1y
Megabooks @Cinfhen it was a really fascinating book. Definitely worth a listen if it‘s ever an easy get for you! 😁 1y
Hooked_on_books That‘s definitely the way I‘ll go! Now I just have to watch for it from my library. 1y

#CurrentListen 🎧 This is more of a short story collection, comprised of all female voices offering their perspective on the 10 year Trojan War. It‘s clever and fascinating and full of myth, lore and legend. @Megabooks @BarbaraBB this is my favorite brand of CBD body lotion and their lip therapy is amazing too!! Perfect for goddesses and mortals xx

alisiakae I‘ve never tried CBD lotion, what do you like about it? I use CBD drops to help with sleeping. 1y
Cinfhen It relieves minor aches and pains and offers some longer relief without having to digest anything @4thhouseontheleft I think the body rub roll on in the stick form actually works best on my lower back and upper shoulders. Plus they smell a hell of a lot better than Vick‘s vapor rub xx Hope you‘re having a great time at the cabin 1y
alisiakae @Cinfhen I'll have to try this! We're not at the cabin yet! We leave on Monday. It's Maya's last week of school! 1y

Cinfhen Wow, school year is almost over!! Crazzy 1y
Megabooks Nice!! We‘ve definitely had an interesting conversation about CBD, etc. with @BarbaraBB ! 1y
Cinfhen We really do have good convos @Megabooks @BarbaraBB #LiveAndLearn ♥️ 1y
BarbaraBB @Cinfhen @Megabooks Definitely! Cindy, you use this just for fun, I mean without a medical reason? We DO have marijuana oil in the Netherlands but people are very reserved (?) in using it. I would never think of buying it but you are now tempting me!! 1y
Cinfhen Yes @BarbaraBB it‘s not medical but it‘s meant to have medicinal plant based benefits you can even buy CBD products via Sephora 💕I‘m not sure how much is JUST marketing and how much is actually beneficial but it‘s the newest craze... (edited) 1y
BarbaraBB I really must find out all about this! So tempting! 1y

#BookReport Words in Deep Blue 5🌟 Librarian of Auschwitz 5🌟💔 and Death in Cyprus 4 🌟 both for #Booked2021 Juliet Takes A Breath 4🌟 for #BBRC Librarian was also my #Doublespin.

#WeeklyForecast Trying to keep up with chapter a day on Emma and have just started the other 3.

Cinfhen Im glad you “enjoyed” Librarian of Auschwitz as others were not as moved. It‘s on my Kindle. I‘m looking forward to reading it. #LiveAndLearn 1y
TheAromaofBooks Yay!! Great progress!! 1y
Deblovestoread @Cinfhen I will be interested in your thoughts. I read a blurb that said the author got some things wrong in regards to Jewish religion/traditions. Unfortunately I do not know enough to pick up those discrepancies. 1y
Cinfhen I‘ll keep you posted 💕 1y

Far From the Tree | Solomon, Andrew
post image

The subtitle of this book says it all. This is a book about the search for identity. Peppered with interviews of families as well as stats & citations, Solomon looks at what it‘s like for parents to raise a child that is fundamentally different from them, like one with Downs Syndrome. He does talk to a few where the parents have the same condition in chapters on dwarfism and deafness and non-hereditary conditions like being the child of rape. ⬇️

Megabooks ⬆️ Even when I didn‘t agree with Solomon, this #audiobook was endlessly fascinating and has given me a lot to think about. For further insights, look at my four longer previous posts. #ChunksterChallenge @Amiable The book is 962 pages and 40 hours 37 minutes on audio. I‘m really glad I decided to go for it! (edited) 1y
Cathythoughts I love this title 👌🏻❤️ 1y

youneverarrived I‘ve loved reading your updates on this Meg 🤍 it sounds like such an informative and interesting read. 1y
BarbaraBB I‘ve loved your updates. This seems a hard but important book. 1y
Redwritinghood I just watched the documentary made based on this book. Definitely worth a watch. It‘s on Hulu. 1y
Megabooks @youneverarrived thank you! It really was. 1y
Megabooks @BarbaraBB that definitely describes it. Thank you! 1y
Megabooks @Redwritinghood I do have Hulu! Once I get some distance from the book, I‘ll watch it. 👍🏻 1y
Cinfhen Well done, Meg!! #LiveAndLearn 🤓I need to figure out how to get Hulu to work overseas @Redwritinghood I think I‘d do better with the documentary than 40 hours of audio 🤪 1y
Megabooks @Cinfhen I don‘t think it‘s something I could usually do, especially how dense the material was, but I‘m glad I took on the challenge this time! 1y
Cinfhen Your brain is definitely more analytical!! I‘m glad you broke it up into summaries / I feel like I read the cliff notes xxxx 1y
FelinesAndFelonies Wow! I think it's amazing you stuck with such a long book on such challenging material! Well done! 1y
Megabooks @FelinesAndFelonies just saw this! Thank you! I was surprised how easily it flew by. Despite the length, the stories and the human connections move it along really well. 1y
Amiable This book was definitely way more interesting and engaging than you might expect — I loved it , too! 1y
Megabooks @Amiable Agreed!! 1y
Megabooks I forgot to tag this for #EastTimor #ReadingAsia2021. He spends time with a community with high hereditary deafness that have built their own sign language. @BarbaraBB @Librarybelle 1y
Librarybelle Nice catch for #ReadingAsia2021 ! 1y

Beautifully written sad story. Bad things wrapped up as tradition. Thought it was going to be a soppy love story at one point, but it definitely wasn‘t.
The ending was sad, but realistic.

TrishB I had no idea the US occupied Japan until 1952 after the war!! Got lost down one of those Googley holes ( @rockpools 👍🏻) reading about that too. 2y
rockpools @TrishB I didn‘t know that either! Feel like I should have. 2y
TrishB @rockpools yes I definitely felt historically deficient! 2y
