Next up!! My tenth book of 2020 will be this one, it‘s my #booked2020 #liveandlearn book since I don‘t know much about the time period.

"Some memories never heal. Rather than fading with the passage of time, those memories become the only things that are left behind when all else is abraded."

Human Acts is the story of the Gwanju Uprising in South Korea in 1980. The author examines the idea that time heals all wounds, and offers another possibility - that time, instead, turns memories into ghosts, which stay with us for a lifetime.

I picked up this book after hearing of many keto success stories. This book is very informative and satisfied my curiosity about keto - what to eat, how much to eat, what to expect when you switch to keto, etc. And now that I‘ve read it, I don‘t think keto is for me!

Cinfhen Great photo!! 💕as much as I want to attempt Keto I don‘t think I could stick with it🙅🏼‍♀️ 3d
britt_brooke My husband and I started Keto January 1. 😬 The first few days were pretty tough. But now I‘m used to it. And I‘m down 8 lbs already! 3d
OriginalCyn620 Thanks @Cinfhen! 😊 (edited) 3d

OriginalCyn620 @britt_brooke That‘s awesome! 😊 3d
Cinfhen That‘s awesome @britt_brooke !! What‘s a typical day‘s meals for u?? Im trying to decide if I could really do it. I‘ve done W30 & No Sugar for a few months but then inevitably I start to fall back into my bad eating habits 🙄 3d
britt_brooke @Cinfhen Today, for example: breakfast was a hard boiled egg, 2 pieces of bacon, and a quarter of an avocado all chopped up together; lunch was tuna with a sliced bell pepper; dinner was chicken egg drop soup and a veggie egg roll bowl. All pretty tasty. 😋 3d
Cinfhen Yum indeed!! Way to go @britt_brooke !!!! 3d
britt_brooke @Cinfhen Thanks! 🤗🤗 2d

I chose this for #booked2020 #liveandlearn . Since I know little about the “troubles” in Northern Ireland as the author refers to them as. Unfortunately, I don‘t feel like I was given enough background on the history behind the troubles to really understand who all the players were in this story. There is a lot here. A lot of people, a lot of events, and a lot of time goes by. I had trouble following it on audio. Maybe print would be better?

MelissaSue81 Also.. a Northern Irish narrator was an interesting choice for a book written by an American? I didn‘t hate it, but it felt sort of gimmicky. 4d
Cinfhen I had the same experience with the audio and stopped at about the halfway point. I‘d like to pick this up and start again with a print copy. 4d
Suet624 I definitely wouldn‘t have been able to follow on audio. Loved the book and it has stuck with me for months. Seeing what happened to some of the key players was very powerful for me. Having been in some questionable actions myself, I‘m always curious about what happens to those people who believe so strongly in their actions. @Cinfhen @MelissaSue81 4d

Cinfhen I remember you saying how much this book resonated with you @Suet624 I MUST get a physical copy 4d
Jas16 I had to stop the audio and switch to print and this ended up being one of my favorite books of last year. 4d
BarbaraTheBibliophage I‘m glad you made it through. I get frustrated when that happens with an audiobook. 📚♥️👊🏻 4d
Singout Interesting. I just reserved it to listen to when it's available--not really #liveandlearn because I did peace work in Northern Ireland 25 years ago! Hope I don't find the audio too hard to follow. 4d
MelissaSue81 @Singout - I think if you have some background knowledge on the major players it will be easier to follow. The extent of my background knowledge is the Cranberries Song Zombie. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 4d

Blood feud is a matter of honor, a duty and the only right thing to do. The story is set on an Albanian plateau in the late '70s, and Gjorg - a young boy who took the blood is now waiting for his life to be taken away. Through Gjorg's story, the author explains the thousand-year tradition governed by Kanun - a code regulating all the aspects of life. An extremely sad story, but with its simple approach it is also extremely beautiful in ... 👇

Simona ... in weaving together stories about Kanun interpreters, its beneficiaries and its victims. Almost 5⭐️ 4d

I was referred to this book by the Sourdough School book that I read last year and since I wanted to learn more about the gut microbiome decided to give it a go. It is very science and research based heavy and occasionally a bit dry.
However, I did find it a balanced view on the subject matter. I definitely learnt about the different microbiomes in my gut and how they differ from person to person and also the possible reasons why.

So I am trying to learn some new skills. Here is my first bobbin lace bookmark!!! I definitely need some more practice 😆 The tagged book is super helpful with lots of colored pictures. There are some things I wish were explained a little more clearly, but overall a good introduction. Plus it fills the #LiveandLearn slot for #Booked2020 !!

TheAromaofBooks @Barbarathebibliophage @SaturnDoo @robinb @Cinfhen - thanks!! I saw this once in a museum years ago and was fascinated by the method at the time - only recently thought about how I could probably learn how to do it myself 😆 Still need a LOT of practice!! 6d

I am literally speechless. This book should be given to anyone thinking of an Italian holiday with the label Proceed At Own Risk. I cannot believe that a country that gave us the Renaissance has such a farcical legal system. Anyone who still thinks Amanda Knox is guilty, needs to read this. In the end, the story isn‘t about the murders, it‘s about what happened after them. Madness. #Jumpstart2020 #NonFiction2020 #SomethingAboutAScandal #Booked2020

Cinfhen Fantastic review!!! Sheer lunacy and madness. I couldn‘t get over the Italian police😱 1w
Lizpixie @Cinfhen I just feel so sorry for not just the families of the poor victims, who have been forgotten about here, but also all the people who have had their reputation and lives shattered by a narrow minded, obsessed lunatic with a badge.🤦🏻‍♀️ 1w

peaknit Truly could not agree more! 1w
bookandbedandtea Pretty much my exact thoughts on reading this book! The whole thing is crazy and fascinating and, not that I have much chance of doing so, it made me wary of traveling to Italy. 1w
DGRachel Loved this book and I completely agree. It actually makes me leery of traveling anywhere because all countries have such different legal systems. 7d
Hooked_on_books So true! Poor Amanda Knox. Totally not guilty. And this book is so good. 7d
BarbaraTheBibliophage Great review and awesome prompt combination! ♥️📚👊🏻 7d

Came home from work to #bookmail so got to enjoy the last few minutes of a gorgeous day. Winter weather expected this weekend, but we haven‘t had much so that‘s okay.

Also thinking of this one for my #Booked2020 #liveandlearn prompt. Since I don‘t usually read graphic novels & this is a unique subject, I think it fits!

Soubhiville What a beautiful reading spot. 1w
