My collection of Agatha Christie's! These are probably the most beat up books I own, and were mostly found over time at Baltimore's The Book Thing.

These Nancy Drew books were so intriguing to me when I was a kid. They were the start of a life-long love of mysteries. #itsallamystery #day17 #sizzlinsummerbooks

Laura317 What a pretty photo! I was the same way with Nancy Drew. I still have my old set. I might need to revisit them. 7y
Sace Oh I love Nancy. I read several a child. I've got the complete set as an adult. I'm slowly making my way through them. 7y
PurpleyPumpkin @Laura317 @Sace I was thinking that a reread is in order. But I only have these three! I'm jealous of you both having the full set. I'm going to try to collect some more. 😉 7y

mabell Same here - they are fun to revisit. I just wish I have in my 30s half the polish that Nancy had at 18! She was truly a lady. 7y
batsy So many of us must have become mystery readers because of these books ❤️ (in my case Nancy plus Poirot/Marple :) 7y
PurpleyPumpkin @mabell So true! I wanted to be just like her. 💜 7y
PurpleyPumpkin @batsy Yes, I think Agatha Christie books were the mysteries I got into next. 👍🏽 7y
AnnieReads Same here! I owe Nancy Drew and my maternal grandmother for my love of mysteries. 7y
PurpleyPumpkin @AnnieReads That is lovely!💜 7y
PurpleyPumpkin @Sace Stacked! Thanks for the rec. 📚 7y

The Thin Man | Dashiell Hammett

A friend and I have decided that Wednesdays are for #NoirNight. As he researched his thesis by reading Hammett and Chandler, he discovered they really beg to be read aloud. I suggested he should read one to me. For our first foray, he chose the basis for one of my all-time favorite film series. So every Wednesday I get my own private audiobook of The Thin Man. #itsallamystery #sizzlinsummerbooks

Mommamanzi I loved the Maltese Falcon but have never read The Thin Man. Add it to my tbr list lol 7y

I'm listening to this for #oregonbattleofthebooks and it was perfect for when the kids started fighting in the car. Now everyone wants audiobook time.

I love how this book takes the cliches of the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew and embraces them in a hilarious way.

Laura317 Might have to check this out. My son and I are listening to 7y

#ItsAllAMystery when things start to go missing in a small town, one stormy summer night. First small bits and baubles, then people. Everyone in town loses something but when a group of teens find a book with spells to recall what was lost, things aren't exactly what they seem...

Cinfhen You keep posting lots of new and interesting books! I loved Night Circus, it's one of my favorite covers ever! (edited) 7y
EchoLogical @Cinfhen I try my best 😆 I thought the Night Circus was okay but it would make a better movie. Like the visual elements (all of the descriptive details and show-stopping feats of the circus) of the book almost seemed more powerful than the storyline itself. This story is begging to watched rather than read, I think. 7y
Cinfhen Yes, visually NIGHT CIRCUS would be incredible ~ it really should be made into a movie! 7y

Mystery is one of my favorite genres, especially if it's a #historicalmystery. The majority of the books I own fall into #mystery so I picked a book I don't think I have posted about before. I have only read book 1 but I'm really looking forward to reading the rest of the series. The main character reminds me a lot of Matthew MacFadyen in Ripper Street (at least in my imagination he does). #itsallamystery #sizzlinsummerbooks

I had to put The Rise and Fall of D.O.D.O. to the side for a bit, because I'm just not feeling it, so I started one of my library books. So far, so good. Thanks for the giveaway, @Liberty ! #BIRTHDAYSPACE

It's a new-to-me series and #itsallamystery. 😉#sizzlinsummerbooks @Tiffy_Reads

My most recent mystery read is the first of the Rose Gardner Mystery series. I thought it was a 3-3.5 ⭐️. The writing is not the greatest and there are some annoying phrases used a lot, but overall I enjoyed the quick easy read. I liked it enough to order the next few from the series and see how the characters develop. It's a nice light read to break up the heavier ones.
