I came for Nicola Yoon & Angie Thomas but, wow, I loved all of the stories in this book! These 6 authors did a fantastic job weaving these characters and their stories through each short story.

A Small Place | Jamaica Kincaid

My #IslandVibe #TitlesAndTunes selection is so good and eye opening. Kincaid writes a critique of #Antigua and those who colonized the small island and how that colonization has shaped it. This is a memoir, so it‘s a very personal examination. One can feel her emotions. It‘s a must read. #ReadTheAmericas2023 #192025 #1988

Librarybelle Hope you enjoy, @BarbaraBB @Daisey ! It is less than 100 pages, so very quick read, but also very contemplative. 11mo

White Egrets: Poems | Derek Walcott

I don‘t read a lot of poetry, but I found this one pretty enjoyable. Some travel involved (Walcott was from Saint Lucia, and these poems feature the Caribbean, Italy, Spain, and the U.S, among others), nothing wild or crazy. They‘re deceptively short and simple, but it was nice to linger on some of them. #52Books23 #byaCaribbeanauthor

I‘m not a huge fan of poetry but enjoyed this book, I think because they weren‘t too ‘odd‘.
The author is from #saintlucia #readingtheamericas2023.

Many of the poems are set in the Caribbean, but we also visit France, Amsterdam, the US and Italy, as in the poem above that compares summer on Saint Lucia and in Italy.

I‘ve managed to do another #quadrupledip with this one ⬇️ although I‘m sure I won‘t be that lucky going forward!😁

Cinfhen Well played 🙌🏻🎊 1y
