The Last Kids on Earth and the Zombie Parade
The Last Kids on Earth and the Zombie Parade | Max Brallier
18 posts | 12 read | 12 to read
"Terrifyingly fun! Delivers big thrills and even bigger laughs."--Jeff Kinney, author of the #1 New York Times bestseller Diary of a Wimpy Kid Diary of a Wimpy Kid meets The Walking Dead in this very funny post-apocalyptic graphic novel for middle-grade readers. The zombies are disappearing. This might seem like a good thing, since zombies eat your brains, but normal human kid Jack Sullivan is suspicious. He keeps hearing an eerie shrieking noise that seems to be almost summoning the zombiesbut to where, and for what (probably) foul purpose? Jack, his three best friends (maybe the only people left on Earth), and their pet monster Rover need to get to the bottom of this. Along the way they encounter a lot more than they bargained for, including a giant Wormungulous, a pizza parlor monster hangout, an ancient evil who destroys worlds, and a stereo system that is totally the bomb. Can Jack figure out why the zombies are vanishing . . . before he and his friends are next? From the Hardcover edition.

One of my students asked...Mrs. B, What would you do if you were the last kid on earth? Me: Eat as much Chinese food as I could. You? Him: I would live in the mall. My scholars keep me laughing which is necessary especially during these times. #zombieparade #lastkidsonearth

Just as good as the first, with fun artwork and some great humor. The challenges are changing and the characters are growing. I like that it's not static, with the same types of things happening over and over.

#BookishBingo: Includes a (zombie) parade 😵

The book was good like the first book there was quite a bit of events going on at once but at somewhere near the middle of the book it got really boring and almost nothing was happening. But something that was cool was a new villain is introduced. Over all I would give it a 6/10

The kid also got this yesterday and finished it this morning! I posted a couple of weeks ago that he was reading the first book in the series. He finished that book in one sitting. He recommends both and says that if you like monsters and stuff then you'll like this series. #raisingreaders

kristen_reads My 10 year old devoured this entire series! 7y
MisterWhitaker This sounds amazing! @TheNextBook @kristen_in_wonderland what is the youngest age you would recommend these books for? 7y
TheNextBook @kristen_in_wonderland the kid loved it! Super quick reads 7y

TheNextBook @MisterWhitaker my kid is 9 and he was really comfortable with it. He thought a lot of the parts were really funny and was really into the story. I would probably say 8-12. It has some pretty cool illustration throughout. 7y
kristen_reads @MisterWhitaker I agree with @TheNextBook ages 8-12. My son also loves the How to Train Your Dragon series, there are 10+ books & he likes those just as much. Lots of adventuring & humor, plus great illustrations! 7y
MisterWhitaker Awesome! Thank you both! 7y
TheNextBook @MisterWhitaker I hope your kid(s) enjoy it! Mine was really excited about finding this series! 7y

Scholastic book fair at the school today and my son picked out these two books. He is into zombies lately. 📚☠️☠️ the first Last Kids on Earth book was fun so I'm looking forward to reading this one with him.

Another great romp through a monster and zombie infested post apocalyptic world with Rover...and Jack, June, Quint, and Dirk! ☺ This time around, it's a lot harder to tell the good guys from the bad guys... with MUCH more final results if your judgment is wrong. Choose wisely... but definitely choose this book!
