A follow up to yesterday‘s post... this is the book I chose from my library‘s #blinddatewithabook display. I think I chose pretty wisely (this book has been on my radar for a while) 😍

erinreads Hey, just checking if you were able to get your #cupidgoespostal package yet or at least got notice it was trying to be delivered since the 11th? The tracking just says it keeps getting rescheduled, so I‘m just hoping it isn‘t lost. 🤞🏻 @BookishMarginalia 5y
Eyelit @erinreads I‘m trying to get it. USPS and my local post office are giving me a hard time 🙄 here‘s hoping it gets resolved soon! 🤞🤞 5y

Eyelit @erinreads not yet, sadly. I‘m getting the runaround from USPS and they‘ve opened a case to investigate. I‘ll definitely let you know when it‘s resolved 😄 5y
Eyelit @erinreads I picked it up on my lunch break today - will post tonight. So excited! 😁 5y
erinreads @Eyelit Yay! I‘m glad it finally made its way to you! I hope you like everything. 5y

We had a lovely dinner tonight with my uncle and his partner. She lent me this book of short stories by a #localyyc author. I‘m really excited to read it! #canadianauthor #yyc #shortstory

BookishTrish Sounds good - enjoy! 6y

Started this a long while back and am finally returning to it. Reread the opening story and loved it as much as the first time. So much danger and love and reality in the simplicity of young adolescent childhood portrayed. 🐎

Mehso-so

Disappointing. It's not a bad book by any means, but I think that the title being "The Dark and Other Love Stories" makes you think that you're getting, well, dark love stories. And I wouldn't classify these stories as dark so much as sad/depressing. I will say that I really loved the story "Girlfriend on Mars," which for me was by far the strongest story of the bunch.

Beachesnbooks I think part of the issue was that I'm used to magical realism story collections, which have a certain style, and these were mainly realistic fiction. 6y

Day 6 of #riotgrams is short stories. I'm a big fan of short story collections and this is the one I'm im the middle of right now. So far, my favorite story from this collection is "Girlfriend on Mars," which is about a drug dealer dealing with being relegated to the sidelines when his girlfriend enters a reality TV competition to be one of the first humans to live on Mars.

CherryPie Sounds good. 6y

Short stories and coffee on my day off ?☕️
I picked this one up on a whim at BookCon last year since it was a short story collection with the word "dark" in the title ? Good so far!

Pickpick

This punchy little collection of off-beat stories provided an enjoyable escape. It's always fun to read collection set in places I recognize, in this case, the Lower Mainland (Vancouver BC and the surrounding region).

I have a working phone again 🎉🎉 I didn't like my involuntary hiatus from Litsy.

Enjoying a book and coconut iced espresso outside in the gorgeous weather today! Highly recommend this collection of short stories so far. They're really well written and paced. Great characters, lots of depth, beautiful writing. So glad I picked this up on a whim. #booksnbucks

I've been procrastinating big time on all my galleys due to my trip, but after The Passage was getting way too dark for a setting so fun (I'd rather not be thinking about the apocalypse and everyone dying and being stranded while I'm actually in Italy, thank you very much), so this is the perfect read for me right now. I'm savoring these stories so far. A must read!
