From the author of Boyfriend Material and Rosaline Palmer Takes the Cake comes a cozy mystery that revisits the Golden Age of detective fiction, starring a heroine who's more podcaster than private eye and topped with a lethal dose of parody--perfect for fans of Clue, Knives Out, and Only Murders in the Building! When up-and-coming true crime podcaster Liza and her corporate financier wife Hanna head to a luxurious hotel in the Scottish Highlands, they're hoping for a chance to rekindle their marriage--not to find themselves trapped in the middle of an Agatha Christie-esque murder mystery with no way home. But who better to take on the case than someone whose entire profession relies on an obsession with all things mysterious and macabre? Though some of her fellow guests may consider her an interfering new media hack, Liza knows a thing or two about crime and--despite Hanna's preference for waiting out the chaos behind a locked door--might be the only one capable of discovering the killer. As the bodies rack up and the stakes rise, can they save their marriage--and their lives?

This book was fairly light and entertaining. I think I‘d have found it even funnier if I was a real conissieur (I do not know how to spell this!) of the genre - I‘ve read a few Agatha Christie‘s and like them a lot but certainly haven‘t read them all. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is a fun mystery. Tongue-in-cheek type humor with nods to Agatha Christie and Clue (maybe others that I didn't catch).

The main character is a true crime podcaster. Her wife surprises her with a weekend at a Scottish castle turned resort because their marriage is on the rocks. There's a blizzard and they're snowed in and the bodies start piling up.

4/5

A true crime podcaster finds herself in the middle of an actual murder mystery after her wife books them a trip to a remote Scottish hotel to work on their strained marriage. I loved how the book played with a lot of the classic murder mystery tropes and how the chapter titles referenced Clue. I thought the classic elements of a mystery paired well with the modern true crime podcast type investigation. It was a fun read.

I really, really wanted to love this and while there were parts that I enjoyed, the relationship between Liza and Hanna also cut into my enjoyment of this. The characters, the setting, the murder; very Clue like and lots of fun. The ending and the explanations for the murders, also very fun. The relationship between the two ladies? Very tedious. Liza‘d attitude towards her wife really made me want to tear my hair out.

True crime podcaster, Liza and her wife, Hanna head for a weekend in the Scottish Highlands in hopes of rekindling their troubled marriage. When dead bodies start piling up; they find themselves on the hunt for the killer or maybe killers before they are next. I devoured this locked room mystery in one sitting. This is one for the Agatha Christie crowd. Thanks to NetGalley and Kobo for the free copy in exchange for an honest review.

This adorable cozy mysteries follows a true crime podcaster and her wife on a weekend getaway to Scotland where the two become wrapped up in discovering who's behind a series of murders, hoping they won't be next. Very Clue-esque and cute. Highly recommended.

Tagging the audiobook I've been listening to nonstop since last night because it's so good, but mostly just posting as an excuse to show off my new girl Wednesday: a black and white banded Kingsnake hatchling! I adore her so much already I could burst.
