Book 1: This a fun summer beach read with all the necessities: light and easy read, page-turning, sexy and fun novel. This is part of a series which has similar characters but can be read as a stand-alone. The novel‘s setting is the beach town of Avalon Bay in North Carolina where affluent people stay to escape for the summer from the chaos of their busy city lives.

Within the first few chapters, I hated everything about this book but mostly the characters & their motivations. But I read it anyway, and it started to grow on me…. And *insert eyeroll* I finished kinda meh about it. It was fine. Not going to chase down book 2 though.

I've seen mixed reviews for this, but I personally loved it. That, or it was just the perfect first vacation read.

On that note, currently on a cruise with my mom so coming at you from the Dominican Republic! A previously planned vacation that turned out to be greatly needed given all of the recent work related stress 🏖

Went to lunch with my sister for an early birthday treat and while walking off the steak, we went to B&N. These goodies came home with me.

CocoReads Yes! And on Friday I‘m having lunch with my oldest and probably going to the bookstore again. 😁 maybe this time, we‘ll go to half price. 1y

Since my exams have finished I‘m clearly averaging at a book a day, and I don‘t think that will stop anytime soon!

Its another wildly unrealistic romance novel, which is full of every trope in the book but sometimes that‘s just what you need 😂the relationship feels more in-depth than others I‘ve read. I loved Mac changing her people pleasing ways and following what she truly wants!

This ended up medium for me. All the characters annoyed me and the side characters all felt SO one dimensional, but I liked the writing style and the pacing overall. I think I‘d definitely read another book by the same author and I felt quite swept up in the ending. I just wish there‘d been a bit more depth to the characters and that the main pair had been, well, desirable or interesting.

I‘m around halfway through this one and struggling a bit. I keep feeling like I‘m nearly enjoying it but the characters are just annoying me. It seems to be so popular though, I‘m wondering if anyone else had that problem?

Nute This has happened to me before. I was enjoying a book very much so, but could never form a fondness for the characters. It‘s okay if the characters are not suppose to be like-able, but what about when the characters are supposedly good people?🤷🏽‍♀️ 2y
KristiAhlers Yeah I bought this one too. Started it and put it back on the bookshelf because it just wasn‘t working for me. Which surprises me as I‘ve loved her other series. I was hoping it was just I wasn‘t in the mood for that book at the time. 2y
Sharpeipup I couldn‘t finish it. I hated all of the characters. 2y

~Quick Friday audiobook~

Attempting to watch Lord of the Rings for the first time this weekend. I know I‘m probably the last person alive who hasn‘t seen or read them.

Are the books or movies better?

MaureenMc I loved the movies, could barely make it through the first book (Fellowship). 😬 I have many friends who love both the movies and books. 😁 2y
TracyReadsBooks My mom read The Hobbit and The Fellowship of the Ring to my sisters and I when we were little so all the books have been lifelong favorites of mine. That being said, I really really love the movies and rewatch them frequently. 2y
Ruthiella Second to last person. I‘ve not seen the films yet either . 😆 I read the books dogs years ago. But I‘ve heard from hardcore fans of the books that the films are awesome! 2y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I haven‘t seen it either!! 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🙈🙊 2y

Mostly enjoying this far, but reading time has been minimal. I‘m exhausted and tired and work is making too irritated to focus on other more fun things.

Johanna414 I saw this post and thought, "I wonder if she's a teacher?" Sure enough... 2y
kimmypete1 @Johanna414 😂😂😂 I sure am! I love being a teacher, but it‘s not easy. This week I felt like alllll my buttons were pushed. It‘s all good now, I have a nice weekend planned and will be relaxed and refreshed for Monday. 2y
Johanna414 Some days are definitely a challenge! Our district does a week off in February, so I'm hoping everyone is feeling ready to start fresh on Monday. It was a rough couple weeks before break! 2y
kimmypete1 @Johanna414 I‘m jealous! I would love a week off in February. Teachers/Students/Admin, we‘re all exhausted, and we still have 5 weeks before break. 2y

I‘m going to pan this even though I almost bailed. I actually scanned from about 10% on. I took this as a light-hearted romcom from its cover. But no. This is a revenge romance/rich girl, poor boy trope filled with mean-spirited, immature young adults (early 20s). Cooper, a local “townie” bartender fights Preston, a “clone” rich college boy who becomes too handsy with his waitress friend. Cooper is fired. He and his “high school” friends plot 🔻

robinb revenge by having Cooper “take” Preston‘s gf Mackenzie away from him. What are we, six-years-old on the playground??! Reading about a bunch of immature friends sitting around and laughingly plan for Mac‘s fall and Preston‘s humiliation is not my idea of an entertaining book. This whole story felt like it might have been written two decades ago, with “hot”, testosterone-driven guys racking up conquests left and right, whether by foul or fair 🔻 (edited) 2y
robinb means. Ugh!! Yes, there was a HEA, but after wading through the mire, cheating and lots of “hotness”, it wasn‘t worth much to me. 1/5⭐️ (edited) 2y
