This book just rubbed me the wrong way. From the moment the heroine starts her first class and discusses how useless and stupid Anthropology is and the hero gets all his friends to lie to her face over and over again, I just couldn‘t root for either one of them. They deserved each other.
Book 1: This a fun summer beach read with all the necessities: light and easy read, page-turning, sexy and fun novel. This is part of a series which has similar characters but can be read as a stand-alone. The novel‘s setting is the beach town of Avalon Bay in North Carolina where affluent people stay to escape for the summer from the chaos of their busy city lives.
Within the first few chapters, I hated everything about this book but mostly the characters & their motivations. But I read it anyway, and it started to grow on me…. And *insert eyeroll* I finished kinda meh about it. It was fine. Not going to chase down book 2 though.
I've seen mixed reviews for this, but I personally loved it. That, or it was just the perfect first vacation read.
On that note, currently on a cruise with my mom so coming at you from the Dominican Republic! A previously planned vacation that turned out to be greatly needed given all of the recent work related stress 🏖
Went to lunch with my sister for an early birthday treat and while walking off the steak, we went to B&N. These goodies came home with me.
The next afternoon, I decide to explore the town on my own since my schedule is free.

Since my exams have finished I‘m clearly averaging at a book a day, and I don‘t think that will stop anytime soon!
Its another wildly unrealistic romance novel, which is full of every trope in the book but sometimes that‘s just what you need 😂the relationship feels more in-depth than others I‘ve read. I loved Mac changing her people pleasing ways and following what she truly wants!

This ended up medium for me. All the characters annoyed me and the side characters all felt SO one dimensional, but I liked the writing style and the pacing overall. I think I‘d definitely read another book by the same author and I felt quite swept up in the ending. I just wish there‘d been a bit more depth to the characters and that the main pair had been, well, desirable or interesting.
I‘m around halfway through this one and struggling a bit. I keep feeling like I‘m nearly enjoying it but the characters are just annoying me. It seems to be so popular though, I‘m wondering if anyone else had that problem?
~Quick Friday audiobook~
Attempting to watch Lord of the Rings for the first time this weekend. I know I‘m probably the last person alive who hasn‘t seen or read them.
Are the books or movies better?
I ended up enjoy this one more than I originally though. I‘m so happy that Mackenzie found the strength to stand up to the d-bag.
Mostly enjoying this far, but reading time has been minimal. I‘m exhausted and tired and work is making too irritated to focus on other more fun things.
This is so true. The silence is deafening.
Loving this one so far!! Elle Kennedy is a master!!
I‘m going to pan this even though I almost bailed. I actually scanned from about 10% on. I took this as a light-hearted romcom from its cover. But no. This is a revenge romance/rich girl, poor boy trope filled with mean-spirited, immature young adults (early 20s). Cooper, a local “townie” bartender fights Preston, a “clone” rich college boy who becomes too handsy with his waitress friend. Cooper is fired. He and his “high school” friends plot 🔻
I really enjoyed this book! EK did not disappoint 😍
