pickIt started off as a dare - Every week Bryson Keller must date someone new, the first person to ask him out on Monday. Most doubt he can do it. Then a boy asks him out and everything changes. Kai did not expect Bryson to say yes, but as he gets to know Bryson he realizes there is more to him than anyone knows.
Loved this book from start to finish! I laughed, I sighed, I cheered for them and felt for them! Highly recommend!

Bryson accepts a dare to date the first person who asks him each week. This week Kai is the first, and the dare said “person“ rather than “girl“ so Bryson agrees to accept Kai as his secret boyfriend.
The basic premise is absurd but the author handles it well, making for an engaging fantasy that kept me turning the pages and wishing there had been such books around when I was that age. 👎
panThere is a lot of controversy over this book which I won‘t get into because this book is bad for many other reasons. The writing is terrible, the pacing is odd, and the tone is preachy.
If you wanted a fluffy romance book then walk away.

pickI finished this just now and it was so refreshing. I rarely read YA since our 6th graders moved to the middle school. I sent their books to their library.
I got sucked into the romance, but the tension and worry about knowing the other shoe was about to drop was prevalent. When it did, the author handled it with lived experience, authentic non-examples and much needed relief.

pickSo cute! A nice heartwarming read following Kai and Bryson‘s relationship over their first two weeks. Bryson was dared to date the first person who asked him out on Monday morning and continue the relationship to Friday. No one expects Kai to ask him out. I loved every minute of this book! 5🌟

pickKevin van Whye's Date Me, Bryson Keller was absolutely the right book at the right time. (I feel like that I've been saying that a lot lately, which feels fortunate!) I read this one with the #totallyteenbuddyread, and it was a one-sitting read for me. I found it to be compelling and so, so sweet.⠀

so-soWow. This book is way more thoughtful and beautiful than it could‘ve been. Stupid premise that would never happen in real life, but kind characters who emulate good listening, acceptance, and love. A good YA LGBTQ+ book to have at hand.
pickI enjoyed this but it was nearly the same plot as Simon Vs The Homosapiens Agenda which I thought was better. Still it was an enjoyable break from the painfully slow clunker I'm also reading so 👍👍. Also, Bryson was nearly perfect. I adored him but my (looong ago) experience with teen boys makes him impossible to believe in. 🦄 🦄 🦄

pickHaving a toddler means I don't read as much, especially physical books. But when I find one with potential, I devour it.
I read this in 24 hours. Kai sucks you in with his personable narrative. And as much as I wanted to dislike Bryson at first (hello, stereotypical jock), he defied all my expectations and became my favorite character.
While there is some language, homophobic slurs, and bullying this book ended up being more cute than angst.
so-soCute, but not great. Kai was a good narrator — his struggles felt really relatable. The story was also well plotted & structured. Bryson, the LI, gave me a bit of a toothache though. He was sweet, fair-minded, handsome-AF, never awkward, never self-conscious, & always said the exact perfect thing. Always. This too-perfect characterization spoiled the romance for me, which was kind of the point. A nice story, but not enough to really move me. ★★★☆☆

BUT... I read this because I wanted sappy gay teenage angst, just like the fan fictions I read when I was a teen, and it delivered this on point.
It's been hard to keep interest in a book long enough to finish it with the shitstorm that is the world right now. I am however enjoying this.

I am in and out of reading slumps this lockdown season & honestly this book seems to be the best medicine for it. Am already 40% into this & I enjoyed every moment of reading it... Can't wait to complete this book. Review to come soon...
