The new priest in town and a local recluse experience mysterious encounters with a phantasmagoric black barn that appears only for fleeting moments, but both understand it to be utterly evil. This is really good horror. The art and writing combine to form a thick atmosphere of dread, lingering like a heavy blanket over the story. Creepy, with hardly any violence or gore, this is a masterful use of tone. Highly recommended!

Found this on my tbr list and decided to start it before looking into reading Sweet Tooth. A mind-bending mystery that left me wondering more about the Black Barn and feeling a sense of wtf when I read the last page. A serious page turner! #horror #mystery #graphicnovels

Gotta admit, I was slightly skeptical about the premise of this one (mysterious sinister barn appears/disappears...) - but I picked this up cause I lurve Jeff Lemire. Believe the hype on this one, y‘all. It‘s creepy. It‘s mysterious. It‘s engrossing. I‘m about to fall down the rabbit hole of further volumes. See you on the other side. 😄

I love almost every comic/graphic novel I've read by Jeff Lemire. I recently started this series and this #smile pops up a lot in the story and every time it creeps me out.

Oooo, this was good! Supernatural horror, good vs evil, fallen priest, mind bending mystery. Lemire is brilliant. The art is stunning. I'm looking forward to more.

This graphic novel was excellently creepy, about a mystical barn that haunts people in a small town. Are they visions or is it real, and why does it only affect some people? I will definitely keep reading the series.

I picked this up on a whim from the library, and was very pleasantly surprised! Volume 1 sets up an interesting story that leaves more questions than answers so far, but I‘m looking forward to the next volume. 4⭐️

I wasn‘t blown away with this one. But I am interested in the story, it just took more then half of the volume to actually pull me in, but the hold isn‘t strong. I enjoyed the art when it got “creepy” or “ scary” but outside of those aspects, I didn‘t care for it. I‘ll continue and see what happens

Really dug how creepy this one was! Had me hooked and ready for more from cover to cover.

Cool eerie graphic novel

Yeah, so this is really good. Really, really good & definitely the creepiest thing—in all the best ways—I‘ve read since Locke & Key. Simple enough premise—throughout time there is a mysterious barn that just appears & then reappears & when it does, bad things happen. Two very different men get caught up in the barn‘s latest reappearance & what happens next...Horrific, compelling, mysterious & more...it‘s another good comic from Lemire.

Oh! That ending! Creepy, but good. I dig stories like this! Definitely will pick up the next one when I can.

Lots of great comics in #2018. After a bit of thought I think these were the 6 titles I looked forward to the most each month. The tagged book is my # 1. Although that changes all depending on my mood. 😁

Last week issue 6 came out which was the end of the first story arc. All six issue will be collected into trade and on sale October 23rd.

Seriously. Jeff Lemire & Andrea Sorrento have created a dark, rural, noir feeling, supernatural thriller that has been unsurpassed this year in its storytelling than any other comic (IMO). Top notch stuff and I highly recommend. ♥️😍♥️
