The Foxhole Court (All for the Game) (Volume 1)
The Foxhole Court (All for the Game) (Volume 1) | Nora Sakavic
Neil Josten is the newest addition to the Palmetto State University Exy team. Hes short, hes fast, hes got a ton of potential and hes the runaway son of the murderous crime lord known as The Butcher. Signing a contract with the PSU Foxes is the last thing a guy like Neil should do. The team is high profile and he doesnt need sports crews broadcasting pictures of his face around the nation. His lies will hold up only so long under this kind of scrutiny and the truth will get him killed. But Neils not the only one with secrets on the team. One of Neils new teammates is a friend from his old life, and Neil cant walk away from him a second time. Neil has survived the last eight years by running. Maybe hes finally found someone and something worth fighting for.

Obsessed with the American pronunciation of Aaron…
Lowkey forgot and was wondering who “Erin” was 🤣

peanutnine Wait then... How do you pronounce Aaron? 😅 1w
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @peanutnine, “a-ruhn” - thinking about it, I remember being confused when watching Criminal Minds on the rare occasions that people used Hotch‘s first name. We also pronounce Megan differently - which I never knew until the media became obsessed with Megan Markle. (We just place the emphasis differently so it‘s Mee-gan rather than Meg-an) (edited) 1w
peanutnine Accents are so funny, even within the US we have two ways to pronounce Megan actually (some people say May-gan) 1w
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @peanutnine, it‘s fascinating really, how language and accents evolve. 1w

I somehow thought Rainbow Crate were doing a The Sunshine Court box but that in no way stopped me from ordering a new set of All For The Game books.

PathfinderNicole My sister is “supremely jealous” that you are able to order these copies of AFTG 😂 2w
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @PathfinderNicole, they are kind of pricey (postage to Australia on all book boxes is 🥹) but the preorder is open until March 24. 2w

My ability to buy things online and then be genuinely surprised when things land in my mail box is unmatched.

Anyway, these dust jackets are pretty sexy (the OG covers are also terrible but even so)

Kenyazero Wow! These are beautiful! 1y
PathfinderNicole That‘s amazing! Did you order them on Etsy? My sister is a HUGE Foxhole Court fan and these would be a perfect Christmas gift 1y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @PathfinderNicole, I follow the aftg tag on IG (I‘m addicted to text posts) and the artist, Ouijacine popped up one day… https://www.ouijacine.com/?Collection=Dust+Jackets 1y

The Foxhole Court by Nora Sakavic
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is the first in the All for the Game series, and this series is wild. We‘ve got the normal sports, bad choices, and college, but then Sakavic throws in the mob. All of it shouldn‘t work together, but it does and so well. It‘s one I was surprised to like! CW: The series is like an intro to dark romance, so if violence squicks you, it may not be for you. Please review trigger warnings.

I have been hearing about this series online for ages now, and have always been interested in it. A few days ago a new coworker was gushing about it and I decided I needed to jump on the bandwagon and start this series! 😂 I ordered all three, but I'm thinking of waiting until August/September to officially start it. It seems like the perfect series to add to my autumn tbr list! 🍁🍂

peanutnine I've heard some things about this series that got my interest. Let me know what you think when you read it! ☺️ 2y
Branwen @peanutnine I absolutely will! I also decided to start it now because I was too excited to wait! 🤣😂 2y

When I tell you I didn‘t realise that this was about AFTG until I got to the tags… when not a single day has gone by since I finished reading it that I haven‘t thought about it 😳

Should I watch Euphoria? Does it live up to the hype?

BooksNBowls I haven‘t watched Euphoria, but is this the book series that inspired it? I would like to read them first before I watch the show. 2y
LibrarianRyan I have watched the first season, and based on the description of the book, the show has nothing to do with the book. Not much about sports in the show at all. It's all drug use. It's Hard. And a bit disturbing, but it is disturbing for it's realness. It's the Zenadya show right. It's excellent, but hard. 2y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @BooksNBowls, no - not based on the all for the game series - just more about comparing unhinged plot lines. 2y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @LibrarianRyan, didn‘t realise Euphoria was based on a book. Yup, it‘s the Zendaya show. Good to know, I might get to it one day. 2y

Ahh, that‘s better!

(I bought new dust jackets for these books and I have no regrets)

LibrarianRyan I wouldn't either. The original cover was so bad. I was suprised the original covers didn't put people off. 2y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @LibrarianRyan, I think the authors sister designed the original covers - but I agree, it‘s amazing how much of an audience they‘ve found (and they have - there is a lot of fan produced art, fan fiction and textposts) given how unappealing the OG covers are. 2y

This is an unrealistic sports/mafia mashup that is exceedingly fun to read. I really want to keep reading to see what happens which is why I bought the second book immediately after finishing the first.

I had a hard time getting used to the writing, and I didn‘t expect the theme of the book to be so dark, but I enjoyed reading it. The characters are complicated and some of them are a complete mystery to me still, but I‘m very interested to know more about them and see how all this will play out. Definitely picking up the next book in the series.

Did I just buy the books after I read them on kindle?! These covers are hilariously bad... and yet I‘M KIND OF OBSESSED... by a book about a made up sport, set in college with a team of very damaged young people that somehow also involves the mafia...

Christy2318 I love this series! I bought them on Kindle after binge listening to the audio. 3y

Read in February: I feel like I read mostly ebooks this month 🤣 which do impact on the end of month photo! 12 books read in total, I‘m staying just ahead of my goodreads goal... 3 books from the library, 3 off my shelf and 6 off the kindle... I‘m always saying I‘m bad at reading series and yet - February saw me read the 27th Stephanie Plum and the 31st Agatha Raisin... I read my #DoubleSpin but not my #BookSpin...

This is the year where I seem to be mostly reading tumblr recommendations and so far it‘s been great - probably not books I would have found on my own but it‘s good to step out of ones comfort zone once in a while. The cover art on this series is terrible and if the fan base had been less enthusiastic I would have kept scrolling without a second look. Who knew I‘d get so invested in a book with such damaged characters who play a made up sport?!

Is this book filled with horrible characters and events? Yes. Does everyone in it desperately need some therapy? Also yes. Did I still absolutely love it? Hell yes. I‘m not usually one to enjoy well written characters who are horrible people just because they usually annoy me so much but this book was different. I don‘t know what it is about this book but I just couldn‘t stop listening to it.

I thought this was going to be #romantsy and it wasn‘t. It‘s about a fake sport that is a hybrid of lacrosse, soccer and ice hockey, being on the run from the mafia & a whole lotta dysfunctional college students. It has a sort of cliffhanger ending. I‘m curious to see where book two goes. 🥍🥍🥍🥍

I love this book series! The characters that Salavic creates are so vivid and I love them all so much (even Riko). I'm so happy that these are becoming audiobooks. I feel like that fit the format well because they tend to be fast paced. I highly recommend for anyone that likes mafia stories. #favorite #mafia #audiobook

Oh well I loved this book though 4/5 ⭐️

My first venture into ebooks, finally accepted I don‘t have the space to physically own all the books I read it‘s especially useful for genres such as thrillers which I‘m unlikely to re-read. I also feel encouraged to try a few biographies and nonfiction that I wouldn‘t typically buy, excited to get into a few of these and and am really enjoying the foxhole court and the first book is free on kindle so can‘t complain so far.

2017 was not a good reading year. It was the biggest reading rut of my entire life. 4 books all year & 2 were rereads. My writing suffered. However! I'm already almost finished with my first book of 2018 & I intend to set aside a dollar for every book I read this year, at the end of 2018 I will take the money I've saved to buy even more books & I've resolved to make this the year I finish the first draft of my novel! I have big plans for this year

Man, I blew through this series this weekend! Books 1 & 2 rounded out my #pantslessreadathon on Monday, then I spent my evening yesterday and today on Book 3. There are a LOT of triggers in these books centered around all kinds of violence, but they're also solid sports novels centered on teamwork and redemption.

The All for the Game series by Nora Sakavic: I didn't really know what I was getting into, only that I'd seen a lot of people loved these on tumblr. What I got was a mob-thriller-runaway-story-romance-sports story, and I devoured all three over two days. I even remember reading them on my phone from my desk at work. This plot was mostly completely absurd and unrealistic while remaining in a realistic world (not my favorite) and sort of feels like a weird ripped off version of The Secret History. AND YET I am beyond easy to please. It's not great, but I'm addicted to this odd short series. ⭐️: 3/5

FictionFox It makes me happy to see another so-so review on this. The series has such a huge following but the first book just left me so....meh? Unsatisfied? Confused? Going to attempt the second one and see if it fills any of the gaps for me. I'm also terribly easy to please though so who knows, maybe I'll end up obsessed. 6y
