The Godfather | Mario Puzo

Much better than I remembered. Sonny, Michael, Tom Hagen and the rest leap off the page, and towering over them all the Godfather himself, one of the great figures of popular fiction. Puzo deserves to be recognised as one of the most influential figures in popular culture.

AmyG Agreed. I need to read this again. 3w

I enjoy mafia history and this book was very interesting as gave history of Jimmy Hoffa too. I wanted to read the book before seeing the movie and really glad I did.

I know it's a little early, but I'm starting to plan for my personal reading challenge for 2020.

The theme: Italian
Book count goal: 30-40

I'm looking for books that are either 1) by an Italian author, 2) set in Italy, or 3) about Italy.

This is where I need some help.

Outside of the obvious authors like Primo Levi, Italo Calvino, Andrea Camilleri, and Elena Ferrante who are some authors or titles I should add to my list?

Megabooks She originally wrote this in Italian about how learning it helped her find her voice as an author. 1mo
Megabooks Also Umberto Eco. I enjoyed 1mo
cassiopia @Megabooks she published a collection of Italian short stories earlier this year. I'm thinking of buying it as a Christmas gift for myself. 1mo

cassiopia @Megabooks I was told to read this one by him as well. Have you read it? I'll definitely check out the one you recommend. 1mo

Megabooks @cassiopia I have not read it! Thanks for the recommendation! 1mo
Emilymdxn Call me by your name is set in Italy and is a fantastic book! I‘m a huge fan of absolutely everything by Italo Calvino but particularly if on a winters night a traveller and invisible cities. Also my fave Shakespeare measure for measure is set in Italy! 1mo

Rating: 3.5/5 stars.

I waited to get this book only for this book to wait on my shelf before I picked it up and read it. I must say, I will never do that again.

I enjoyed this and I'm looking forward to watching the movie now and perhaps even getting into other gangster movies and books.

UnidragonFrag Killers of the Flower Moon was great but also enraging. Are you even liking the book your MIL keeps asking about? 3mo
Beatlefan129 @UnidragonFrag Nope! We get along well, but when it comes to books our tastes are completely different 3mo
