The American Girls are super popular for young girls let be honest. I grew up with the original 6: Felicity, Josefina, Kirsten, Addy, Molly, and Samantha.
Felicity was always my favorite because ever since first learning about the American Revolution I‘ve loved that time period.

Someone on goodreads alerted me to this amazing podcast called American Girl Pod. The creators are historians who were also obsessed with the AG books as kids and do an in-depth episode for each book, in chronological order, discussing both the historicity and the quality of the writing. I've listed to two episodes so far and LOVE IT! Highly recommend!
I'm rereading the American Girl series I read as a child. I loved this book, BUT as an adult I'm furious that Felicity cares so much about this abused horse that she steals it to set it free, while her family owns at least one slave. I can't in good faith recommend this book, but I really wish I could. I would not read this to my child without talking to them about slavery.
Children of the Revolution by Bono, Gavin Friday, and Maurice Seezer
Another oldie but goody. This is the first American Girls book with Felicity. Felicity is an 11 year old girl growing up during the American Revolution in the 1700s.
I‘m actually not sure if Felicity‘s books are still being published but if you can find them you should definitely pick them up.

While looking for something to listen to while I walk the dogs, I found out that my library recently added some American Girl audiobooks. Time to find out if this is any good while I indulge in nostalgia.
It‘s finally here... the long-awaited American Girl episode of my podcast! For our first foray into the beloved AG brand, Rachel King joins me to discuss our colonial gal Felicity Merriman and her first book, aptly titled Meet Felicity. We discuss why certain harsh realities and historical elements were addressed and others hidden, along with feminism and gender politics. PLUS we dive into the dolls and catalogs! Link to listen in bio!

My favorite American Girl: American Revolution time period and she rides a horse! I own this doll and horse, Penny, and all six original books (shown).
By only gripe, reading them as an adult, is ten years old is (too much) too young to be adventuring without supervision and making childish rash decisions without thinking about consequences.
I felt lucky to be doing well in school, let alone saving the country.
Hello, American Girls podcast! I am here for many, many episodes of deconstructing formative books from my 90s childhood. #podcasting #bookadjacent #americangirls
I'm starting research for a new book set during the American revolution, which is not my strong suit. So I'm going back to basics.
I used to reread the entire American Girl series any time i was home sick in bed. (Kirsten is still my fav, tho) #research #authorsoflitsy
This librarian was off today but I stopped by my neighborhood library to check out some books for the #throwbackreadathon. I can't wait to reread some old favorites! I checked out a few American Girl and Dear America books 💕
Felicity was my absolute favorite American Girl! These books and the musical 1776 made me get my degrees in history with a focus on the American Revolution. #childlike #maybookflowers
Found a stash of these guys in the back room of the bookstore. TEAM FELICITY FOR LIFE.
#octphotochallenge #90'stoysinbookform The original American Girls dolls were all in book form. Teaching kids early that Fiction is a great way to learn about history!
Unique fact about me: Growing up, my favorite American Girl was Felicity who lived in Colonial Williamsburg. Turns out it may have been a premonition on my part as I fell for a guy who lived in Williamsburg and moved here when we married this past spring. Love living in a place that has so much history in it's backyard. #augustphotochallenge #day14 @TheSpinecrackersBookClub
