Huckleberry Finn
Huckleberry Finn | Mark Twain
8 posts | 19 read | 4 to read
Huckleberry Finn is a wonderful story filled with adventure and unforgettable characters that no one who has read it will ever forget. The book is noted for its colorful description of people and places along the Mississippi River. Set in a Southern antebellum society that had ceased to exist about twenty years before the work was published, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is an often scathing satire on entrenched attitudes, particularly racism.

I went to see The Jim Irsay Exhibit in LA last night. He‘s the Colt‘s owner but his passion is collecting pop culture & American artifacts (especially classic rock items). Here‘s his small collection of books! There‘s a concert at the end with some famous classic rock musicians. The exhibit travels, is free, & I would definitely recommend looking into as the American history section in particular was amazing.

Lord knows I struggle with Percival Everett's work, but I am into this idea: https://lithub.com/percival-everett-is-rewriting-huckleberry-finn-from-jims-pers...

BarbaraBB That is a great idea. But I am biased because I love his books 😉 13mo

I actually liked this a lot more than Tom Sawyer. One of the best children's classics IMO!

Vansa Oh same here. Definitely liked this better than Tom Sawyer. 3y

#songsofsummer #sittinonthedockofthebay @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @OriginalCyn620 Although I prefer Tom Sawyer, for some reason Huck Finn came to my mind for this prompt. I‘m sure he fished off a few docks before getting on that raft. The picture in the corner is of my cat - named Huckleberry Finn - less than impressed that the dog is getting pet! #catsoflitsy

OriginalCyn620 The cat‘s face! 🤣 so cute! 5y

#Gimmeshelter made me think of Huck and Jim, travelling down the river. Then it made me think the point of their journey is to get away from shelter. Then I wondered if what they knew could be called shelter. Then I thought I should re-read Huck Finn since now I'm not sure if I've ever read it. So many thoughts! 🤔
Sorry to make you read them @Cinfhen @rohit-sawant 😆
