I did a thing. I ventured out this weekend to see my daughter in Providence. We went to the Athenæum and then to Aleppo Sweets for some Arabic coffee with cardamom and of course some baklava. The Athenæum had a sale so I got 6 books for less than $10!!! No anxiety. It was lovely.

batsy That sounds lovely. Baklava + books 👌🏾 2mo

Cuilin @IndoorDame I recommend. It‘s a beautiful space. Have you been to the library on Nantucket? It reminded me of that. (edited) 2mo

IndoorDame @Cuilin no. I actually haven‘t been out to Nantucket at all since I was a girl, before I lived in the area. I used to go as a tourist to visit family friends. 2mo

Honestly, I skimmed through this book while my family was shopping in Target. I did enjoy the art style throughout the book and the definitions of the different styles of homes. I think this would be a nice coffee table book… I might be a little biased because my mom watches the Gaines‘ on HGTV frequently. 😂

Thanks for the tag @pip2 !

1. Yes, I love to fill up random spots in my house with stacked books. One is the tagged book. It looks nice but is funny because my “home“ is crumbling down around it. Need to get moving on some home projects!

2. TV...particularly episodes of shows like Sex and the City, Gilmore Girls and The Office. All of these I've watched today while I'm home sick. Now back to my book.

Do you scope out the magazines at your hair salon? I love Magnolia Journal! The spring issue is always my favorite because it‘s packed full or spring ideas & this one isn‘t lacking any of that. Gardening plans are already in the works for our backyard garden. Tomatoes were ginormous. It might be fun to do an arbor full of them, so we have little red baubles.

Do you read at your hair appointment? What‘s your favorite magazine you grab when there?

Really great book of full of design elements, practical ideas and eye candy. Not sure I‘d need to own this one but it is a great library find. Lovely Sunday afternoon with a cup of tea book.

Sparklemn I caved and purchased it. My house is in dire need of a re-do. ✔ 😮 3y

Couldn‘t leave Magnolia land without a little souvenir. The Fall issue has a feature on journalling, so magazine with notebook & pen seemed like a nice treat. #newstationary

I like their show a lot, so I was surprised this wasn‘t a hit for me, but this is page after page of white and gray. Without color, it just felt bland and impersonal. Also, I was expecting more design tips like she throws out on the show, like balancing displays but that wasn‘t here. There is a Things to Consider and Troubleshooting section for each room, but I was disappointed. It was nice that she included a design template in the back.

sblbooks Have you read The Magnolia story I liked it. 4y
CoffeeCatsBooks @sblbooks I haven‘t and it looks like the it‘s gotten good reviews. 4y

My sister is building a house and I get to help design the inside. The difficulty lies in that Em doesn't always know what she wants and hates making decisions so when she told me she'd been watching Fixer Upper and loved Joanna Gaines style I figured I'd pick this up. Great content in here (less country chic than you'd think) and some pointers on how to blend this style with whatever kind of home you're looking at.

Tonight's #bedtimebook was a gift from my fiancé. 💜 We watched #fixerupper together when we were dating, and now we both work from home and spend most of our time in our house. 🏡 #homebody #millennials #bookblogger

Listen, I like Joanna Gaines‘ style a lot, but every house in this book is in the same style, and it‘s impossible to tell them apart. Also, none of these rooms looked as if a person had ever so much as sat in them. By the end of the book, I was dying for a color besides black, white, and gray. The tips she includes are good general advice but vague. Pretty as a Pinterest board but not very useful.

Notafraidofwords You just summed them up. 5y

I just found out that this book exists- I‘m fangirling a little here- and will be released tomorrow 😳. I love everything Gaines/Magnolia! The only question now is do I put in my Amazon order for it today (a little “treat yo self” moment) or wait to see if Santa gives it to me next month...

tracey38 It comes out tomorrow. I really want it, too. 5y
